I think that they are unbelievably built with incredible accuracy.
One can not imagine how they are without seeing them.
It is a historical fact that at the time pyramids were built there were no slaves in Egypt.
The work was done out of a great sense of duty. It was religious activity. The King at that time was considered the son of the sun which was the supreme god. The King would help religious people live a happy afterlife.
Pyramid building proves how ancient Egyptians were highly prepared to undertake such an incredible project with much preparation, planning, knowledge, dedication and much much more. The proof is that until today the pyramids are the number one attraction to anyone who is unprejudiced, free of jealousy and fair. |

I think they're gorgeous and Fascinating!
"Contrary to some popular depictions, the pyramid builders were not slaves or foreigners. Excavated skeletons show that they were Egyptians who lived in villages developed and overseen by the pharaoh's supervisors.
The builders' villages boasted bakers, butchers, brewers, granaries, houses, cemeteries, and probably even some sorts of health-care facilities—there is evidence of laborers surviving crushed or amputated limbs. Bakeries excavated near the Great Pyramids could have produced thousands of loaves of bread every week.
Some of the builders were permanent employees of the pharaoh. Others were conscripted for a limited time from local villages. Some may have been women: Although no depictions of women builders have been found, some female skeletons show wear that suggests they labored with heavy stone for long periods of time.
Graffiti indicates that at least some of these workers took pride in their work, calling their teams "Friends of Khufu," "Drunkards of Menkaure," and so on—names indicating allegiances to pharaohs.
An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 workers built the Pyramids at Giza over 80 years. Much of the work probably happened while the River Nile was flooded.
Huge limestone blocks could be floated from quarries right to the base of the Pyramids. The stones would likely then be polished by hand and pushed up ramps to their intended positions.
It took more than manual labor, though. Architects achieved an accurate pyramid shape by running ropes from the outer corners up to the planned summit, to make sure the stones were positioned correctly. And priests-astronomers helped choose the pyramids' sites and orientations, so that they would be on the appropriate axis in relation to sacred constellations.
From stone pusher to priest, every worker would likely have recognized his or her role in continuing the life-and-death cycle of the pharaohs, and thereby in perpetuating the glory of Egypt." |

It has been proven that they were skilled stone masons that built them, they were not slaves they were enlisted by the Pharaoh like people are enlisted in the Army today to serve like 4 years building them then a new crew would come in |

Of the 113 pyramids in Egypt those of the Giza complex are the best known and most extensively researched.
They are amazing monolithic constructions of precision cut and set limestone blocks that were intended as tombs. When completed they were covered in highly polished limestone casing stones which would have reflected brilliantly in the Egyptian sun.
Each of the pyramids had its own funerary temple and other associated buildings enclosed in its perimeter wall and a causeway leading to the Nile, which took a slightly more Western route closer to the Giza plateau than it does in the present era.
As to whether these pyramids were actually used to inter the pharaoh's mortal remains or intended as a ritual burial places for his ka or soul we do not know,as they were all robbed in antiquity.
This most likely occurred as long ago as the Middle Kingdom when a period of civil war and insurrection was rife in Egypt.
From the 24 years of continuous research and excavation on the Giza site leading Egyptologist Mark Lehner has found the pyramids were most definitely a "public works programs "with the majority of the labour force coming from all the 42 nomes or provinces that made up "The Two Lands"(often referred to as Upper and Lower Egypt) during the inundation period when farmers were unable to work the land.
From the excavation of the pyramid town Mark has also been able to successfully prove that the pyramids workers recieved good diet, ample rations of beer, adequate housing and were given the best medical care available at the time.
All of which is all a far cry from the now laughable old theories of slaves enduring a life of abject misery and being whipped as they toiled to the death for the glory of the pharoah.

It now appears the pyramid village was the first true "company town" in history.
Very few slaves would have been used as the ancient Egyptians put high value on their slaves and any forced labour would have come from those who had committed crimes.
The ancient Egyptians didn't have jails as such, but sent convicted felons and prisioners of war to work in the mines and quarries.
Pyramid building also required a large force of skilled masons, tool makers and other tradesmen. These men would have formed the core of a permanent workforce at the Giza site.
Even after the Giza pyramids were completed there would have been permanent staff of priests and others who carried out rituals and attended to the needs those who came to pay homage to the pharaohs and their gods.
Great answer Nicole!

They're wonderful and beautiful pieces of history.
The Egyptian people are the ones who built them. I think it was a combination of slaves, as well as workers.
I wonder what they would think if they knew that today, so long after they were built, we were still having debates about how they were made, and whether it would be possible for ancient civilisations to have been the ones to construct them. |

As far as I know, the plans were made by the pharaohs and their close advisers, but the plans were executed stone by stone by slaves, who often lost their lives and were often buried with the pharaoh as they knew the entries to the burial rooms and therefore could steal or inform thieves of where the treasures were.
The pyramids are Egyptian, i.e. they haven't been moved from another country, and they were built by workers employed by the Egyptian kings, but most likely slaves working under very harsh conditions and often losing their life.
I think the pyramids are beautiful, and they sort of "fit" within the landscape of sand dunes etc. |
