I think that it just shows what a melting pot the US can be...
There are towns called Cairo, Memphis, Alexandria, London, Paris, Edinburgh, Moscow, Lebanon, Hebron, Crete, Iberia, Rome, etc...

There is such a town in the state of Maine and I'm sure there are others in some other states. What difference does it make to you? It shouldn't have anything to do with you as you don't live in those states and don't be bothered by the people in them. Take care and don't worry so much.
