Humas wants to completely destroy Israel and the Jewish people and create a Islamic-Palestinian country in its place.

When the State of Israel was created in 1948 the Arabs were offered to create a separate State of Palestine but they declined the offer.

And the Israelis gave the Palestinian people the Gaza Strip with the hopes that it would bring peace. But look what has happened, its just caused even more trouble than we had before.

It doesn't matter what we do. They will never be satisfied as long as Israel and the Jewish people exist.

Hamas has so many similarities to Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Hamas wants the destruction of Israel. Death or kicking out Israeli non-Muslims. Shariah law (Islamic theocracy) under a government dedicated to Muslims only.

In other words, Hamas wants to turn all of Israel into a non-negotiable hell on earth. Try freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equality of women and gays under that one.

Sheik Ahmad Bahr, acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, declared during a Friday sermon at a Sudan mosque that America and Israel will be annihilated and called upon Allah to kill Jews and Americans "to the very Last One." In order to bring peace the Palestinians need to keep Hamas out of it or vouch for a two-state solution, because there is no way in hell the civilized world will allow Israel to experience a holocaust and its people turned into a miniature Iran.

Muatasem - Choose a more moderate representative than Hamas. I want peace too - that's all that's needed - two sides that will compromise to co-exist. What Hamas is doing is so extreme, so insane that I can never sympathize with their goals.

Edit: Thanks. Your link shows a ceasefire agreement with no formal recognition of Israel along its 1967 borders. That's unacceptable because it would simply leave Israel to be attacked by a more powerful Hamas at a later time, with its original goals intact.

In one article it mentions that Hamas was still taping videos on promising the blood of Jews, even as they rewrote the charter to appear more moderate. I applaud any reform but I don't think Hamas near any point where it wants to co-exist with Israel. Abbas is our best bet for peace. Recognition of Israel and rejection of suicide bombing MUST be a part of the process.

The Palestinian people actually have no centralized gov't to negotiate for them as their gov't has been in civil war with each other since Hamas took over Gaza. The Palestinian people have never had one honest person to negotiate for them as all their leaders have ulterior motives (not peace) and lined their pockets with foreign aid money. That was the reason that Hamas was voted in because Fatah was so corrupt. Arafat's wife is living good life sometimes in Paris and sometimes not.

Yes, they are totally against the establishment of the State of Israel and believe it is Allah's land. Since the Jews do not believe in their god or the Kuran, they are considered "infidels" and should be killed. This struggle is not about politics, it's really a religious battle and is why we in the west always hear Arab leaders call for a "Holy War" or jihad.

Hamas's demands unrealistic and impossible to implement. They want to annex all of Israel and have all the Jews leave and create nation run by Sharia law. That's what they want. Fatah is the only faction we can negotiate with.

Their demand is all Jews dead. I don't see that as negotiable.
Right now they are rebuilding tunnels to Egypt saying they are for Hamas but merchants.
I think more tunnels will bring more bombs.

I find it odd, that everyone who supports Hamas keeps bringing up the "blockade." Gaza wanted its independence and they got it. Why do they need to get their stuff from Israel? Israel is not responsible for them anymore. Its like children who got emancipated from their parents so they can 'live on their own' and then get pissed because they aren't getting all the good stuff they had and took for granted, when they were still living with their parents. They want their cake and want to eat it too.

And if you look at a map, Gaza is bordered by Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. Why don't they shoot rockets into Egypt for not getting help from them? They are even fellow Arabs? - Shouldn't they even have more of an obligation to give charity to the Gazans? That blockade BS doesn't fly with me. They're not landlocked by Israel. Just call it what it is, they don't want the Jews in the region. They are intolerant of having a Jewish state, but envious of the parental support they used to have when they were still part of Israel. Maybe they should grow up and take care of themselves and stop blaming everyone else for their own stupidity and choice to live in the stone age.

Their charter claims they exist for the destruction of Israel. They are not looking for peace. Israelis would have to give up their right to exist as a nation, including the very land of Israel.

Simple. Europe felt bad about Jews (with the holocaust, the ghettos and all that), plus it wanted to get rid of them. So what better way can that happen?

Balfour thought it would be a good idea to ship off all these European Jews to a place called Palestine. At the time, the Arabs were weak, so Britain decided to bribe an Arab leader (Sharif Hussein) who at the time was merely a local leader and had political ambitions and dreams of grandeur. So Britain support Hussein, asked him to infiltrate the Ottoman Empire (because Britain wanted the Empire to fall apart so it can capture Arabia - along with France and Italy). The Empire eventually fell apart (primarily due to its already weakness, and the so called "Great Arab Revolt").

The Jews got their land, and Hussein and his kids all became kings and presidents, and everybody was happy; except for the Palestinians and the conscious Arab intellectuals.

Hamas wants Israelis out of Palestine. Let's put it this way: Palestine is a home, and Israelis decided to kick out the Palestinians and occupy their home. Hamas wants them out. It resorts to military resistance to achieve this, but unfortunately, I believe that Hamas' leaders are bought out as well, since they have done little to liberate Palestine from the reign of Israelis.

However, it's only a matter of time before Palestine will be back to its rightful owners (the Palestinians). It's written in the Torah in fact! Ask any righteous Orthodox Jew.

A Palestinian state. Meaning palestinians have their own government, control their own borders and Israel has no say in how they run their country. This is not rocket science, this is basic rights of a nation.

First of all Hamas is rebeling because of the stupid blockade that the Israelis' put up. This prevented medical aids, foods, and supplies from getting in. If Hamas doesn't do anything they will surely die. So they are using rockets that don't hurt anyone. The Israelis' say that they will make a comprimise. So for 6 months Hamas stopped waiting to make a comprimise, but guess who doesn't hold up on their side of the deal, dun dun dun the suspense is killing mee the ISRAELIS'. Big surprise. Very greedy, dishonest, and big mouthed. When will they learn their lesson. Ancient Egyptians, Hitler, what more do they need to learn a lesson?

Edit: Why would someone start bombing for no reason. If you get in a fight and someone punches you first you will punch back. In this case, The blockade and soon after Hamas taking a stand. Stop exaggerating please people already know jews/israelis like to over exaggerate.
