Here4Travel Q & A |
What does it smell like in Gaza? |
Since obviously all the experts here have been there and/or still live there, please tell us.
I would hope none of you wouldn't be misrepresenting Palestinians by simply injecting your own words. I met a really cool Pali chick on here today and she agreed, it is frustrating trying to tell people her eye-witness account is more accurate than "The Ottawa Tribune" Additional Details I THINK: It smells like the sadness and disparity of a proud people with a rich history that have been abandoned by their fellow Arab nations until any moment where an opportunity is seized to utilize them as a fulcrum in which to try to pry at the hearts of Americans and Europeans and in any futile effort to further their efforts to dismantle the purely fictional Zionist construct.
But that was just a whiff from Ashkelon so :( |

I AGREE
Its a bunch of people struggling to just live their life! it is a bunch of children half the population suffering from anemia, it is a place where malnutrition is like that of some regions of the Sub Saharan africa
It is a place filled with people who are ignored by their fellow Arabs and are being used by other people to fulfill their own needs....
Pray for the people in Gaza... |

I agree with you it smell like sadness ,bitter despair and complete feeling of helplessness. This is how most of gazans smell it but i smell it most of times differently: how refreshing to the soul it is at the beach with salty breeze hitting your face,oh and how it smells after the blue gazan sky rain in winter times the best smell to accompany a hot cup of green tea and a fine cigarette so earthy&deep and my most favorite smell is the gaze of spring where blossoming lemon trees flowers combine with jasmin scent a perfect aroma for late evening walks,if only i could bottle those scents and label it I LOVE GAZA.
Samsoma the original:i lived in gaza for 13 years now and weather you believe it or not its up to you,but yes gaza can smell all what i mentioned ,go for a walk at the beach,or at the country-side of Khanyounis city where AlQarara villege smells nothing but citrus tree flowers during spring season,or have a picnic under a gawava tree in the fields of at AlMawasi,AlNosyrat or in Shikh Eglyn then come argue me if i live there or not.Anyone is welcomed to visit once its possible.

I smell UN Frigates, Cruisers and a couple of Destroyers approaching the national sea-borders of Palestine.
I don't have to sit on the beach to do that like Dahlia.
I only have to listen what the people around me think about the Palestinians.
We are all sick and tired of watching the jews killing and destroying everything that belongs to them.
Enough is enough. Peace now or expect "anti-semitism" to turn "politically correct" everywhere.
bye bye |

Gaza is in Palestine, right?
Israel is Palestine right?
So I am fully qualified to tell you how Israel smelled to me back in 2006.
You see, instead of a 5 star hotel the jew operators stacked me in a filthy hostel, next to the busiest bus station in town and a public lavatory as my main view, just across the tiny balcony.
So "urine stench" is the answer. Right in the centre of Haifa (hey that's close to Gazza, right?)
I had to split the very next morning for Cyprus (thank God for that) and spend the happiest 15 holiday days of my life!
The Jews still owe me 600 bucks. Can you do anything so I can get my cash back?
I worked really hard for that money doode. I ain't no rich person.
I had to work overtime for 3 months to get these $600 here in Finland. |

I've been off the web for a few months now, to much hate for my taste, like this fancy trilili Sαмsooмα { єx†яємiς† нø† giяℒ } above me, a know nothing American, I'm 47, lived in Gaza until 2006, we left Gaza when Ha-mas took over, we had hope before them, Gaza started "smelling" bad then, our hopes caught on fire, no more voicing of opinions, no more choice, no free liberal education, that's when the new smell came to be, frustration with Ha-mas.
There could never be peace, not until we get rid of them. |

What gets me is why they choose to live like that.
The rockets are still flying though. |

Smells of rocket fire from the Hamas killers firing rockets daily at the children in Israel. Every day and now they have broken their non existent ceasefire so the smell of rockets from these killers will increase. Poor Gazean people. When will they wake up to the killers in their midst? |

I was there a year ago.
First comes the smell of cooking oil. Nothing unusual, in principle: Many Arab towns smell of cooked food if you drive through residential neighborhoods at lunch or dinnertime. But Gaza smelled of French fries at ten in the morning. And the smell, was not exactly coming from the city’s kitchens or houses. It was coming from the cars.
Smell number two: sweaty horses and donkeys. Horse - or donkey-drawn carts, the streets are virtually crawling with them, with each cart that passes comes a whiff of musty animal sweat.
The third smell I recognize instantly, very typical of Arab villages and small towns, I automatically started breathing through my mouth and figured that the smell will pass quickly. No such luck. The sewage is here to stay, I remember many years ago sewage was running down the center of street in the old city of Jerusalem, the Israelis fixed that very fast. |
