What good has Isreal done for the U.S?

We give you guys 25 million a day, and yet all we hear about is the "woe is me, the evil arabs are attacking us"

You know, we can't back you guys FOREVER.
you have to make a treaty with the arabs or move out.
and don't play the "they're bombing us"
it takes 2 to tango.
I'm just frustating that we are going to trillions in to debt, crappy education and gov., and we're sending away millions every month we could use to improve the U.S
Additional Details
yeah right.
without the U.S blind support, Isreal would have been bombed and slaughtered from the terrorists.
face the facts, you guys rely on other countries to support you, and without that support Isreal would be nothing

AS JFK pointed out back in 1963,it's all a one-way street with israel. We give all,get nothing in return. Nothing has changed.

Israel is Americas private eye in the middle east. What more does America want? Cheers!

Mr. Smartypantsâ„¢
They haven't done jack for us. I think all the people that want us to support Israel should move there.

Israel receive more than 20 billions $ each year from American taxpayers without their consent: 3.7B$ from the Congress Foreign Aid Program, 10B$ Free Loans Guarantee, and 6 to 10 B$ from USA Tax System Loophole as Charity money deducted from American JEWS Tax to be sent to Israeli illegal Settlements.
After all that Israel spy on the USA . What kind of alliance is this.

Israel is an important ally in the region and the only way to create a Palestinian homeland without threatening Israeli security is through American peace initiatives.

It is necessary to support military and financial aid for Israel in order to secure the region. However, Bush's policies in Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan are disastrous. Self-defense, intelligence and national security are justifiable concerns for any country but Bush is just a warmongerer.

What would be helpful to Israel and Palestine is:

an end to settlements,

a restoration of financial aid to Gaza,

lifting aspects of the occupation,

land swaps,

a plan for borders of a Palestinian state,

return of seized areas,

a plan for withdrawal over the next three years,

the dismantling of settlements,

housing and financial aid plans for refugees living in camps.

Even former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conceded that economic development in Palestine would help to discourage militancy.

The U.S. also needs to put an end to the bombing of civilians in Gaza by designing a cohesive and effective plan to end Qassam rockets with a minimum risk of civilian casualties. The defense policies of Ehud Barak are disastrous.

Your question is ignorant and you are only trying to instigate an argument. You want to know why the US cares so much about Israel? I have news for you, we also support your economy. Here is a little list of what our contributions are to society, there are plenty more but this should do, for now. Also note, you would not be using your computer without technology from Israel as mentioned below.

The Middle East has been growing date palms for centuries. The average tree is about 18-20 feet tall and yields about 38 pounds of dates a year. Israeli
date trees are now yielding 400 pounds/year and are short enough to be harvested from the ground or a short ladder

Israel the 100th smallest country, with less than 1/1000th of the world's population, can lay claim to the following :

The cell phone was developed in Israel by Israelis working in the Israeli branch of Motorola, which has its largest development center in Israel.

Most of the Windows NT and XP operating systems were developed by Microsoft-Israel.

The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel
Both the Pentium-4 microprocessor and the Centrino processor were entirely designed, developed and produced in Israel.

The Pentium microprocessor in your computer was most likely made in Israel
Voice mail technology was developed in Israel.

Both Microsoft and Cisco built their only R&D facilities outside the US in Israel

The technology for the AOL Instant Messenger ICQ was developed in 1996 by four young Israelis.

Israel has the fourth largest air force in the world (after the U.S, Russia and China). In addition to a large variety of other aircraft, Israel's air force has an aerial arsenal of over 250 F-16's. This is the largest fleet of F-16 aircraft outside of the U.S.

Israel's $100 billion economy is larger than all of its immediate neighbors combined.

Israel has the highest percentage in the world of home computers per capita.

According to industry officials, Israel designed the airline industry's most impenetrable flight security. US officials now look (finally) to Israel for advice on how to handle airborne security threats.

Israel has the highest ratio of university degrees to the population in the world.

Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation by a large margin - 109 per 10,000 people -- as well as one of the highest per capita rates of patents filed.

In proportion to its population, Israel has the largest number of startup companies in the world. In absolute terms, Israel has the largest number of startup companies than any other country in the world, except the U.S. (3,500 companies mostly in hi-tech).

With more than 3,000 high-tech companies and startups, Israel has the highest concentration of hi-tech companies in the world -- apart from the Silicon Valley, U.S., Israel is ranked #2 in the world for venture capital funds right behind the U.S.

Outside the United States and Canada, Israel has the largest number of NASDAQ listed companies.

Israel has the highest average living standards in the Middle East.

The per capita income in 2000 was over $17,500, exceeding that of the UK.

On a per capita basis, Israel has the largest number of biotech startups.

Twenty-four per cent of Israel's workforce holds university degrees, ranking third in the industrialized world, after the United States and Holland and 12 per cent hold advanced degrees.

Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East.

In 1984 and 1991, Israel airlifted a total of 22,000 Ethiopian Jews (Operation Solomon) at Risk in Ethiopia, to safety in Israel.

When Golda Meir was elected Prime Minister of Israel in 1969, she became the world's second elected female leader in modern times.

When the U. S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya was bombed in 1998, Israeli rescue teams were on the scene within a day -- and saved three victims from the rubble.

Israel has the third highest rate of entrepreneurship -- and the highest rate among women and among people over 55 - in the world.

Relative to its population, Israel is the largest immigrant-absorbing nation on earth. Immigrants come in search of democracy, religious freedom, and economic opportunity. (Hundreds of thousands from the former Soviet Union)

Israel was the first nation in the world to adopt the Kimberly process, an international standard that certifies diamonds as "conflict free."

Israel has the world's second highest per capita of new books.

Israel is the only country in the world that entered the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees, made more remarkable because this was achieved in an area considered mainly desert.

Israel has more museums per capita than any other country.

Medicine... Israeli scientists developed the first fully computerized, no-radiation, diagnostic instrumentation for breast cancer.

An Israeli company developed a computerized system for ensuring proper administration of medications, thus removing human error from medical treatment. Every year in U. S. hospitals 7,000 patients die from treatment mistakes.

Israel's Given Imaging developed the first ingestible video camera, so small it fits inside a pill. Used to view the small intestine from the inside, cancer and digestive disorders .

Researchers in Israel developed a new device that directly helps the heart pump blood, an innovation with the potential to save lives among those with heart failure. The new device is synchronized with the camera helps doctors diagnose heart's mechanical operations through a sophisticated system of sensors.

Israel leads the world in the number of scientists and technicians in the workforce, with 145 per 10,000, as opposed to 85 in the U. S., over 70 in Japan, and less than 60 in Germany. With over 25% of its work force employed in technical professions. Israel places first in this category as well.

A new acne treatment developed in Israel, the Clear Light device, produces a high-intensity, ultraviolet-light-free, narrow-band blue light that causes acne bacteria to self-destruct -- all without damaging surrounding skin or tissue.

An Israeli company was the first to develop and install a large-scale solar-powered and fully functional electricity generating plant, in southern California's Mojave desert.

All the above while engaged in regular wars with an implacable enemy that seeks its destruction, and an economy continuously under strain by having to spend more per capita on its own protection than any other county on earth

This is a good statement by a presidential nominee.

Q:--For many years, Israel has considered the occupant of the White House a very good friend. Will this friendship continue if you become president?

A:--Absolutely yes. I will carry with me to the White House and unshakeable commitment to the security of Israel and the friendship between the United States and Israel. The US-Israel relationship is rooted in shared interests, shared values, shared history, and in deep friendship among our people. It is supported by a strong bipartisan consensus that I am proud to be a part of, and I will work tirelessly as president to uphold and enhance the friendship between the two countries.

Nghiem Q
Thank you for asking the right questions. The result of the 25 million a day may never be seen. But the strain on debt and death and casualties are real. A debate on what is right and what is wrong can go on about forever really. Truth lies in the education and the result lies in the commitment. The world is once again about to re-repeat history...again, already.

Remember the term Terrorist and Arabs (loosely) is not to be confused or used interchangeably. The term terrorist and enemy is something currently not readily specified. Dig deeply what these terms really are.

Don't blame Israel for the bad policies of the U.S.
It's not their fault; no more than it is your fault that our president is a dumb s**t moron.

just a few pieces of information - much of american money to israel is loan guarantees on which israel has never defaulted. military money has a string attached -- over 75 percent of it must be spent back in the US so Israel's money received from the US creates american jobs.

Israeli inventions are more the result of Israelis and Russian expatriates in Israel than "Americans in Israel" so the military and civilian innovations which Israel shares with the US are a definite advantage which America would not have otherwise.

Of course, democracy, military bases and a market for export are also good for the US.

America's problems with debt, education and such are more to blame on poor fiscal policy (the home load scandal has nothing to do with foreign policy but with speculation and loan risks HERE) than on the foreign aid which America gives to many countries, not just Israel, but I'm sure that your eyes will only see what you want to see.

you got the wrong information and you should read a lot more into the foreign relations of the us. and you'll find out that we support the usa and we are one of the only countries to return the loans, btw the usa has the best colleges in the world, and it's gov is one of the strongests if not the strongest.

it must make americans feel all warm and fuzzy inside, knowing that all their hard earned dollars are going towards propping up a teetering regime, with no economy, or viable infrastructure of their own, still as long as you keep sending, they will keep taking.

Israel and the US share many strategic goals, and frequently the US gets a fair return on investment with Israel.
Most recently, the Arch terrorist Mugniyeh was killed, most likely by Israel. He was considered one of the top 3 terrorists wanted by the United States. He planned and perpetrated many attacks against the US, including the 1983 bombing in Beirut, killing 243 US Marines from the 22nd MAU (Marine Amphibious Unit). In 1996, over 3000 US Soldiers were mobilized to attempt to kill him. This mission was disapproved by former President Clinton.
Of most distant memory, but probably the start of military cooperation (early 1960's), was Israel's seizure of a Russian Mig from Iraq and supplying it to the US for dissection and analysis.
Significantly though, is the co-development of the Arrow Missile. The Arrow is the most advanced anti-missile missile in the world, offering protection against ballistic missiles.
Israel also offers experience in counter-terrorism. Israel also answered US requests to protect (by military maneuvers) the sovereignty of Jordan, as Syria was threatening to attack Jordan. It is likely that Israel serves as an incognito ally of other Arab countries that are considered moderate by the US and Israel.
Israel protects and does not hinder (unless for security reasons) access to the Holy Sites, most importantly in Jerusalem. 80% of Americans are Christian, and can appreciate that sites Holy to them are protected and are made accessible.
Israel exemplifies existence and continuity of a people determined to survive and protect its way of life in the face of aggression by its neighbors.
If Israel can survive and flourish amongst so many external (and internal) adversaries, maybe other nations can learn lessons and gain inspiration.

Listen. You seem like a modern girl. You probably have a phone right? go ahead to Israel, compare your phone to theres and you'll see wha Israel does for us. Israel has advanced us int echnology so so much. And for the Palestinians, you know ( please don't report thisi mean no harm) that we do support you. We support medical care, food ect. for palestinians. We put hundreds of poor palestinian children in our hospitals. Infact just last week we took 2 young young children in for heart surgery, if we had not they would've died. And is it really fair that Palestine fires rockets to israel hourly, and israelis hear that siren and LITERALLY have 15 seconds to get to the bomb shelter, 15 seconds to live! is that fair!
