I was a pilot in the Air Force. One night I was flying solo in a T-38 Jet Trainer and got trapped by a thunder storm. The airplane cannot fly through one. With the help of ground control I was directed over a huge lightning cloud. I was flying at 53,000 feet of altitude and 1.2 times the speed of sound, surfing on the top of a thunder and lightning cloud. Below me I could see the flashes in the clouds. Straight ahead I could see the curvature of the Earth. Left and right of me I could see the clouds rolling off my wing tips. I was all alone enjoying the silence of the top of the Earth, when I looked up. There is a poem about flying called "High Flight" that has one line that fits this situation exactly. When I looked up, "I could touch the face of God". |

Well, after studying Islam for 11 years(yes a very big sceptic here of all things), I then went to see the world, my favourite place was Kashmir, high up in the Himalaya Mountains, where it really is Paradise on earth, peace in the middle of war 50 years of war with India and Pakistan fighting for control of it, that was my first experience in seeing and feeling how Muslims really lived. I loved it so much I stayed for 3 years, and converted there. Peace! |

The birth of my children and watching them develop into adulthood has been a lifelong spiritual experience. |

When I went to Jerusalem the first time. It was amazing, I could walk anywhere, into any store, synagogue, and be surrounded by Jews. It was the first place I felt in peace and security, rather than on the alert ( at least a little bit) for some anti-Jew person back in the USA who would try to assault me or something if they found out I was a Jew.
My mom cries everytime the plane lands in Israel, though all our family is from Israel and I've been to Israel with her about 5 times!
Also, if you want to see an experience not-totally related to religious reasons but still a little bit , go to Yosemite national park, here in California. It is the most amazing piece of scenery in the world, I think. It basically makes you feel very small, and you will automatically recite "Ma rabu ma'secha, adonai melech haolam"- what is greater than your creations, our lord, king of the universe. |

my first tactical landing at Baghdad international .
about the time the pilot cut the engines and let the plane nearly go into a flat spin before restarting and jerking it around to line up with the runway.
or maybe it was just living in Iraq so close to where so much of the old testament events occurred .the death of my father ,the birth of my twin boys.its hard to chose any one event, but that's what i like about your questions , never easy.

enlisted in the gulf war and the bosnian conflict without pay but was not called bc i lack some "papers".
when i was still catholic at 16, the entire family saw the different "apparitions of the virgin mary and the 3 children of Garabandal in different "scenes" on top of a 3" diameter candle one "all saints day".
dreamed of prophet mohammad(peace be upon him) ordering me to do something better instead of serving him food.
i say this is spiritual bc i can see people's aura from time to time (their glow of different colors), i usually see the glow of lilac or purple on the prayer carpet when i pray.
although it's quite normal, the fasting during the month of ramadhan,
in all, all our actions should be religious or spritual experiences |

It was the first time I started to worship God, when I became 19 years old. Before that I was nearly and atheist. I still rebel against a lot of things in religion but I am more religious than before and I love to learn about religions. |

The most spiritual experience I've had I will not relate here. I shared it with four other people, three of whom are very close to me and while we have talked about it to others, it isn't something that is easy to relate.
The one I will relate came in a close second. Right after giving birth to my child, watching my husband hold him and the way they looked at each other, then when he was first handed to me and when I looked into his eyes. Indescribable. Spiritual. My husband and I looked at each other and spoke volumes.
As a nurse, I've also been present when a few other people had very deep spiritual experiences..sometimes related to birth, sometimes related to death. I have felt that such times were an incredible responsibility, honor and privilege to be present. I would never venture to divulge others intimate experiences. I have witnessed deeply religious and spiritual moments for people of many different faiths. While I did not share in their faith, I shared in the awe and wonder of the experience they had. This may sound cryptic, but for some things, words aren't adequate.
Coming from such a scientifically minded person as myself, this inability is sometimes frustrating.
Shalom :)
EDIT to wonder WHY my relating of deeply spiritual experiences would rate thumbs down? What??? I never try to shove my faith or connection to God down anyone's throat. I tried to relate portions of the most important events I've experienced in life and they rate now 3 thumbs down? How bizarre especially considering that is precisely what this question asked me to do.
edit..I had to remove all contacts because most of my answers are now getting massive thumbs downs everywhere, even those resolved q's. |

Score for spreez! I do the same thing. I believe in the Old Testament b/c it prophecizes about the New Testament and the New Testament allows me to celebrate any holiday (good holidays). I'm also judeo-christian. |
