Went on a nile cruise in September. It was very interesting, especially if you love history (Like me) but even my wife who is not really into history enjoyed the history.
It is very hot and as a result they get you up early it is not a holiday for those that like a lie in. I went on the MS Grand Presioa, a good ship and the food was good for an all inclusive. The only bad thing was the noise from the engine( this is common for all the ships). A lot of the ships have a fully trained Egyptologist on board ask your tour opperator as these are really good.
Be prepared for stomach problems, of the 24 british people on the ship 20 got ill with problems. These we were told was not food poisioning. which I would tend to agree with as most people were ill for 24 hours only.
We went to Luxor and Aswan, you only really cruise for 2 days or so. We also did the optional excursion to Abu Simbu, expensive and you are not there for long but it is astonishing.
It is safe if you are with a local speaking guide, as one of our group had a problem with a shop keeper trying to rip them off (and rob them really) in one of the biazzares you have to go through to get out of the places of interest. Our guide sorted this out no problems. There are armed tourist security police where ever you go.
The Egyptian camel is the best method to deal with pushy sellers, who will harass you. Sunglasses on and keep walking, do not enter any of the shops themselves don't say no thank you just walk (feels strange but it works).
Yes do go it is as safe as anywhere is these days. If you are careful it can be a great place, you'll get use to seeing cars with their lights off at night, why? because they ware out of cause.
Can't really say about Cairo and the pyramids or the red sea resorts. |

really interesting country.
Cairo and Luxor are excellent for history/culture
Sharm el-sheikh good for watersports etc.
dont be put off by worries of harrassment or terrorism. people are very friendly and threats are no more/less than any where else.
been twice myself and had a great time. oh, and i wasnt ill either time!! |

I almost had a free trip to Egypt once. All I had to to was sign up two friends who would pay, and they would they up four friends, and so on. The trip to Egypt fell apart because it turned out to be a pyramid scheme. |

the advice you have been given above re Nile cruises is very accurate and gives you a good idea of the Nile cruise. Cairo is very busy and polluted though the pyramids are there and the museum. sharm or other Sinai resorts are great for beach holidays and diving. or you can stay in luxor itself a fabulous place to stay and still see many of the sites you would see on a Nile cruise. in luxor you can see the tombs and temples there are many things to see there and you can stay a week and still not see it all. Egypt is a very safe destination, the people are very friendly and great fun. think of it like any other tourist destination, just a little more exotic. i go there 2 or 3 times a year and know it very well if you have any other questions please e mail me |

it depends.. i mean..
if you like a relaxing holiday you absolutely have to enjoy Red sea, especially Marsa Alam for its Reef (more beautiful than Sharm El Sheik), but you can mix fun, sea and excursion (sinai's mount) in Sharm. In marsa Alam there's only the desert outside the village.
However the best way to discover the True egyptian culture is the Nile's cruise, more tiring than a sea-and-relax holyday but cultural more rich |

We went last year, the Nile is beautiful, watch out for food poisening, pick a good boat. Not the best holiday I“ve had, but worth a vistit, lots of historic cultre. Cairo has crazy traffic. They also don“t leave you alone on the streets untill you buy something. One man said to me what do you want ? Because he said he could get anthing thing I wanted. As I was not interested in buying anything I just said , get world peace, he didn“t have an answer to that and left us alone. |

It's great. Especially if your staying in Sharm El Sheikh! It's lovely and hot and you can just have a dip in the pool to calm down and the hotel we were in had a pool bar in every pool. You can go on snorkelling trips out too. If you want to see the more historic side you can take a plane out if you are staying in Sharm El Sheikh To Cairo on a tour to see the pyramids, the sphinx, Egyptian museum and the market. Also you can go to Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings too. You can take a trip to St Katherines Monastary. You will have a lovely time if you go. |

Ive been to Egypt twice and both times i thought it was absolutely beautiful, i stayed at Sharm El Sheikh but next time i am going to Marsa Alam, personally i would stay away from Cairo and Luxor unless doing the sight seeing thing as i hear Cairo is heaving with people and very busy, but if its a relaxing sunshine holiday then go for it, we went as a big family group and i have to say it catered for all ages from my daughter who was 3 right up to my mother-in-law who was 70 and everyone said what a fantastic holiday it was. |

Visiting Egypt is a very good choice. It is safe. Discuss the places you will visit with your travel agency, they will recommend the best places for you. |

Stuffy and boiling. In Cairo they kill all animals in the streets i am telled. The squealing and running torrents of blood keep most people in their hotel rooms. Luxor is okay |
