His actual views don't really matter. Most presidents are little more than puppets anyway.

All American presidents have to look like they are Zionist otherwise they will lose the votes they need in order to get elected. Most Jewish people, Evangelists (I think that's what they are called, you know that very large group that follows Pat Robertson and The 700 Club), Baptists (most Haitians,) just to name a few, are all Zionist. He must defend Israel or he will not become president. Once he is president, he will have to continue the facade or he will lose the support and the votes for the following term.

Obama is a member of the Israeli lobby. He voted for Israel on all the issues in the us congress.

Robert Wexler a very active zionist and Wexler has arranged numerous addresses by Obama to various Jewish organizations,in all of which he expressed a passionately pro-zionist point of view. He has pledged to withdraw troops from Iraq to use against Iran which he sees as the source of Iraqi intransigence against a U.S. puppet regime. That's debated. He definitely says he's allied with Israel--all sides do--but he's taken a more active role than most in pointing out the suffering of the Palestinian suffering. There are claims that he's a Palestine sympathizer, but whether this is true (which would be good) or the lies of paranoid bigots who claim he's Muslim (a modern equivalent of the accusations that Martin Luther King was a Communist) remains to be seen.

he has condemned carter's meeting with hamas and said he would not meet with the terrorist group until they accept israel's existence.
i'm not worried about his support of israel at all.

I guess nobody really cares what he personally thinks or not, US politics is US politics, no space for personal believes or choices... by the way, as far as I am informed, Obama lost against Clinton... True???????
USA always supported and in the future will go on supporting Israel - thatÂ´s part of US politics.
So we can go on sleeping well at night... no matter who will be the next president.

I don't think he would take sides but do what everyone else has been trying to do and make a way for a peaceful co existence.

My feeling is that he will not be good for Israel. My feeling is that as liberal as he is, he (like Jimmy Carter) will tend to push Israel to have peace talks with Hamass, as well as more land negotiations.

With the mind Obama has, his way of thinking, his philosophy, and his passion for people, I truly, truly doubt he's pro-Israeli.
I get the very strong impression that Obama, being the politician that he is, made sure that throughout his political career no one could doubt his "preference" or "bias' for Israel.
But I have no doubt that when the rubber hits the road he will try to out do Mr. James Carter, aka Jimmy, and try to implement once and for all international law as it was meant to work instead of catering to a bunch of land cult neanderthals who would be more than happy to bring the world to an end instead of keeping their mouths shut and live in peace with their neighboors.
