Trying to fail is better than failing to try.
If you try to fail, then it implies that you COULD do it correctly if you wanted. Failing to try means that you don't have ambition, so it's no good. |

In medicine they say, when you break a bone , the place of the the broken bone healed and is stronger than the original , when you are injured the tissues which grow are thicker,,although some fractures never heal and some injures can be deadly,,so lets say Try / fail with a calculated strategy...otherwise it is better not to try at all (WHEN WE TRY &FAIL,we will always get a scare, and that is different from a person to a person, how big is the scare, how obvious it is...are we willing to have a scare at all,,,get it?),,,Sabahk fol |

I think it's definitely better to try and fail rather than to fail to try. You know all the cliches ... better to try and fail than never to have tried at all, and if at first you don't succeed, try, try again?! I really do believe that.
If one makes the mistake of letting some opportunities pass by out of worry that one wouldn't be good enough or would make a mess of things, there might be regret later on and a lot of "what ifs" to haunt the person. You try your best and if things don't work out at least you have the satisfaction of having attempted your best and the value of a lesson learned.
However, I think one must be realistic in setting goals and aims that are achievable in reality, not just fantasies and dreams. You should try only what you can really achieve or else it would be sheer foolishness not heroism. Like Icarus attempting to fly ... romantic and heroic ... yet foolish and fatal. You do not defy gravity and the sun, you do your best within the limits God set for you. |

Definitely to try but fail. There is a saying "you will never ever know, if you don't have a go".
I know its sounds very Australian and is, but even if you fail, out of the experience of failing you learn. This is what making mistakes is all about learning from them,so hopefully we don't keep repeating them.
But to not even try, is to admit defeat and failure before you even begin, and from this you gain nothing and learn nothing.
To purposely try and fail, is to sell your self out,and you have to be pretty stupid or a fatalist to even contemplate doing that.
Unless you have made a huge monetary bet against your chance of succeeding and that's cheating. |

to try to fail definitely because this keeps us wondering what is the failure, which leads us to try again and again |

The outcome shouldn't be what matters the most, what matters is that you have tried...so I would say TO TRY. |

If you meant to type try to fail then I would say fail to try. At least that way the failure isn't your fault and hey at least you didn't mess anyone else over. But if you meant to type to try and fail then I would say that it better than to fail to try, because at least you tried and put in some effort and aren't just some really lazy person. |

To try and fail. In order to find out your weaknesses, you won't find out if you don't try and point them out, strengthen them to succeed. At first you don't succeed, try, try again. Winners never quit, quitters never win. |

to me(i'm a lazy person) both are bad. being lazy i don't want to try, but i am also a very determined person and once i make my mind up to do something, i will pursue it till i accomplish it or it's not anymore or i am just tired. |

I agree with Zoser...I would rather try and if I fail, so what?..I will move on. What won't kill you, will make you a stronger person. I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees... |

To me both are for losers so I won't make a choice but I just want to make a comment about how so many people answering the question don't even understand what it says. I have been reading the answers and almost every one has misinterpreted the question. I don't know if they just read it too fast or if they have a problem understanding. The question did not say "try and fail" or "try but fail", it said try to fail. |
