this is what i do in hot weather .
-close the shutters only .
-keep the glass open.

if the window is all glass ,
keep the glass open , but draw the curtains .

- turn on the airconditioner till the room is cool , then turn it off .
-turn on the fan , make it face the wall or just avert it from you .

other strategies :
-shower 2 times a day.
-keep your hair away from face .
- wear cotton light clothes .

distract your attention from the heat by , TV , Phone , Reading , etc

just found this interesting last week-at my local produce stand, they have an industrial size fan that sprays a water mist to cool the air-and the people!

i keep my hair short , go without a shirt , use an icepack , eat popsicles and watermelon , drink lemonade , wipe off with a towel , use a fan , stay in the shade , don't exert myself too much ...

Take 2 or three showers every day. This opens the pores and makes you refreshed.
Wash your face and hands often.
Wet your hair.
Drink plenty of water.
Wipe the back of your neck with a wet cloth. The back of your neck has the center that regulates your body temprature. If it is refreshed you will have a feeling that it is less hot. This is also done in case of sun or heat sroke. With the back of your neck taken care of, your whole body willbe happier.
Tea whether cold or warm will give you a better feeling. It shrinks the pores of the tongue. When you are thirsty the pores open. When they shrink the body is fooled to think that there is no thirst.
Close the windows starting 8 am. Colse the shutters and the glass. If you open the glass, all you will get is the heat from outside.
Wear a hat or carry an umbrella when you go out.

I have the same problem with AC.

but I have this for you. I am telling you this from my personal experience & its a drink.

Plain Yogurt with little salt & cornflower. Mix them together and add some water- room temperature.

Drink it BEFORE you go to work and AFTER you come back home.
Plus, you have to drink lots & lots of water and if you can {gatorade}
Trust meâ€¦ it worked for me, my husband, and with Europeans who lived in the Gulf Area, AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED OF THE RESULTS.

I sit in front of this COOOOOOOOL website and drink alot of juice I wear light cotton clothes and I rarely feel this heat
I also sit with my best friends.when I do I feel every thing is ok :o)

put aluminum foil in your windows(you can tape it to a flat piece of cardborad all flat and pretty to prevent it from looking trashy and crack-head like, it also makes it easier to remove and then replace)
open your windows at night close them before it heats up
fans all over(can also turn them on at night)
during the day you can put large bowls of ice water infront of or behind the fan and make it kinda like a swamp cooler

also-- this person that gets sick from a/c, have they tried all forms, like a swamp cooler?

if you have a tar roof... i dunno, mayby try buying a bunch of white sheets and covering it up (i just came up with this, but i think it will work, alot of heat comes from the sun hitting your black roof, and your window sils. there's gotta be some reason not to paint the roof white, i mean, no one does it...)

Have you heard of a solar pond ??

Solarpond is an equipment made to trap the heat using water. the heat thus trapped at the bottom layer of the pond.. is used to runa turbine..thus to produce electricity!!

What about a Fan in each room?The good ones work wonders and dont run up your Bill! Wear light clothing.Drink pleny of cold beverages.Limit your cooking.Take a shower more often...

I have never heard of air conditioning making any one sick. This is only possible if you keep making rapid changes in tempurature. But you can also try a wet towel and the evaporation cools you. Go swimming!

i stay inside...never heard of a/c making someone sick..i live in the southern area of the US and i have the a/c cranking 24/7..i would think NOT having a/c and 100 degree temps would make a person sick
