The novelist and playwright Ng农g末 wa Thiong'o who was harassed by the Government for writing his plays in G末k农y农, because he regarded English as the language of neo-colonialism.
Ng农g末 wa Thiong'o wrote in his native G末k农y农 and Swahili. The uncensored political message of his 1977 play Ngaahika Ndeenda (I Will Marry When I Want) provoked then Vice President Daniel arap Moi to order his arrest. While detained in the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison, he wrote the first modern novel in G末k农y农, Caitaani m农tharaba-In末 (Devil on the Cross), on prison-issued toilet paper.
After his release, he was not reinstated to his job as professor at Nairobi University, and his family was harassed. He left Kenya on June 5, 1982. |

Stupid people that think that is the only country in Africa worth going to. It is a nice country but it should not stop ppl from seeing the other countries the safari is great for a hot mintue. Oh yeah my ex brotha in law who was half Kenyan and his mother like forgot her homeland is so American you would not know she is african. You would never hear anything positive about Kenya from her that is so sad. |

I remember the smiling faces amidst problems. I remember their warm welcomes and heart felt thanks. I remember the fun, the beauty the richness in culture. I remember the kindness the hard work.
I remember the beauty of the country, the highlands the lowland the beach. I remember the Mountains the crystal clear waters of rivers in the highlands. I remember snow capped Mt. Kenya in all its glory. The beautiful wildlife.
