I am the one they "worry" about........
Edit: @ Adam, i am really amazed at the way, you made a beautiful relationship and a peaceful religion sound sooo trivial and unfair. Anybody who reads yr misquoted and misinterpreted words will have nothing good to say about Muslims or Islam. Such a shame i used to like yr answers, but this is too weird and extreme. |

Here in Australia it seems I am the decision maker and it is a role I am not enjoying at all. I just wish my elder brother could find time to play his role in trying to make the transition of placing my very elderly mother into care as easy as possible for her.I wish I could take her back to Egypt with me but that is not an option she will consider.
In Egypt I am totally spoilt by a loving, considerate husband who is my world, and also by his large family.
I am not burdened with any huge responsibilities, we make any major decisions together and I am free to follow my career as an Egyptologist and my other interests.
I never really understood or experienced what the feeling of belonging to a family was like until I came to live in Egypt.
I know that my parents loved me, but from an early age I went to boarding school so I didn't really know what being a part of a family meant.
My wonderful mother in law gives me cuddles like I was still a child and I now have sisters that's something I've dreamt of all my life. I love my role in my Egyptian family although I could never hope to fill the shoes of my Mother in law, in being able to give orders to my father in law at the top of her voice, while preparing a meal, while watching her favourite TV program, talk on the telephone and watch over her two young grandchildren, and give me advice all at the one time.
How do Egyptian women of her generation do all that, while I just sit there in amazement! |

I hate it but I LOVE it :) |

At one time I had a role in my family as care giver , I was the only single daughter who could move back home to my parents house and take care of them .Now they are in a better place , I think my role is to keep care of the house and my mother's cat , but I really enjoy every minute of it , Sometimes I feel guilty because I remodeled , but I think they would still smile at me . |

No. not really important. Right now, my mom and sister are very pissed off at me, so it just doesnt matter what role i play.
But i do know as a fact, that i'm the one who always cheersh ppl up, i'm the funny one here. So when i'm traveling, they certainly do miss my sense of humor. |

I am the 'emir' of the family as Allah(swt) has ordained. I support my wife, and any and all money she earns from our clinic ( although its mostly charity) is hers to keep and do with as she wishes....she is devoutly obedient to the 'emir', as Allah (swt) has decreed for her to be. She does not speak to men unless necessity, and guards what is mine...
Remember, it is sahih hadith that one of the signs of the end of days, is when men shall obey their wives.... It is also hadith that if a man told his wife to move a pile of stones from one place to the next, it would be proper for her to do so....
A woman's husband is her jennah or her hell fire....she pleases Allah by pleasing him. And he pleases Allah by caring for her. Insha'Allah let us all remember our roles. |
