Hope is essential for all of us, because without Hope we could not go on through life...

''Four candles slowly burned. The ambiance was so soft one could almost hear them talking.

The first candle said "I am Peace. The world is so full of anger and fighting that nobody can keep me alight"
Then the candle of peace went out completely.

The the second candle said "I am Faith. I am no longer indispensable. It does not make any sense that I stay awake one moment longer."
Then a breeze softly blew out Faith's flame.

Sadly the third candle began to speak "I am Love. People don't understand my importance, so they put me aside. They even forget to love nearest to them. I don't have the strength to stay alight"
And waiting no longer the candle of Love went out.

A child entered the room where the candles were and saw that three of the candles were unlit.
"Why are you not burning?" said the child
"You are supposed to stay alight until the very end"
And the child was frightened and began to cry.

The the fourth candle said "Don't be afraid. I am Hope, and while I am burning we can light the other candles"
With shining eyes the child took the candle of Hope and lit the other candles.

The flame of Hope should never go out from your life, and with Hope each of us can have a life with Peace, Faith and Love...''

Depends, it depends on how the person himself use it, if he can do something but he is lazy or coward and always say "I hope" without doing or working on it, then its an excuse for doing nothing,

But if he can't do anything bcoz its hard for him now or it needs time and patience then its a true hope for the future.

Hope is what makes us struggle and keep going in spite of all difficulties. I disagree. Hope makes us love life, learn, work etc.

For me hope is that necessary extra motivation to keep on going even when "the going" gets rough.
Without hope life and the world around us would be a much darker place and that is a dire thought.
Where there is hope there is faith and where there is faith there is the possibility of change.
Without hope and faith in our lives we are like lost children.

I think Hope is the only feeling that gives us the power to do anything and everything!
Hope is that internal feeling telling you that the sun will shine after a gloomy day,week, month or even anything bad!

Disagree. It has nothing to do with doing something or doing nothing and it can go along with both of them. Yes, some people will do nothing and use hope as an excuse for that. Other people will give their best and hope for the best outcome. A big difference.

Hope is a feeling that people have when they want something to happen. It is also a virtue for some people. I think hope is what motivates people to want to keep trying in life. If you didn't have hope, life would really suck because what would be the point of getting out of bed everyday. Everybody has hope no matter what people say. For example, people hope they will get the job they want. Some people hope they will find a husband or wife. Some people just hope they will have a long life. I think people that say it is an excuse for doing nothing probably think hope is only for religious people or something. You can do something and have hope at the same time such as filling out job applications while hoping for the job you want the most. So I disagree because everybody has hope for something at least one point in their lives.

Depends on the pretense....some people do nothing, then Hope. Others take the initiative and Hope things gets easier with time.

My definition for Hope would be wishing for an specific outcome from an uncertain situation.
