Kalooka

What is your greatest fear!? read first below..?

It's about medicine and hospitalization and doctors..

For me i am dead afraid of being terminally ill, i see many people around me who was terminally ill and i saw how they are treated, and i m not talking about people who can't afford to be treated, i m talking even about people who can afford the best doctors and hospitals..
i can go on and on on this heart breaking issue but the conclusion is who gets ill (i mean something serious) in this country dies..

Adam, why you are always OFFTOPIC?

Well Kalooka, if it will confort you, you're not alone!! Add on, my own experienceS when it comes to Doctors and hospitals, my mother died in a -so called - "reputable" hospital because they didn't "diagnose" the illness!! which was as simple as brain stroke (spelling or even the name right?? - galta fel mokh) I hate hospitals everywhere not only in Egypt, we tried also hospitals in Saudi Arabia and England! Kollo me7assal ba3do!! I pray to God that when my time comes fe3lan akoun fel beet f west ahly without having to go to hospitals.

Hey there Kalooka,

I have been debating with myself whether or not to answer your question. It touches a very personal experience. Unfortunately, you are so correct and it breaks my heart to say so. A few years back i was really sick and though alhamdulelah, we are considered well off and have the money for doctors and medicine, still lack of experience and knowledge of some of the best names in their fields in Egypt, has left me still suffering from the side effects of the wrong medication that was prescribed to me till this date.

During that time, i was lost looking for anyone to help me, we went to all the specialties there is and each doctor i went to asked for extensive test and x-rays and MRIs and so on. Still the answer would be the same, sorry there is nothing wrong with you. I doubted myself and started to believe them but the pain was too much to bear or ignore. You wouldn't believe the only doc who knew what was wrong with me was only because his brother had suffered the same illness. Chance right? i guess so. but that is what happened.

I was put on a medication in such a high dosage that i kept suffering from its effects over and over till nowadays, i have just recently known that a simple procedure in my spinal cord could have saved me years of suffering but Qader Allah wema sh2a fa3al.

Still all i can say is Alhamdulelah allze 3efanna memebtala beh 3'ayrana, i am still better off, than some of the cases that i have seen.

So in that fear, i have to admit, it is one of my greatest fears also.

I hope i didn't add to yr fears.

Salah (In Egypt)
It's about faith in God but I agree with you though

@hasafer, the avatar is so hot :D

It's not very different in the states. The American medical Association is a business and they are in the business of making money not making people well. They have no interest in our health because they don't profit from that.
I have heard doctors talk about taking seminars to learn how to hard sell surgical procedures to patients, that is convincing patients they need an operation so they (the doctors) can increase their income. They have a cure for cancer, they won't tell us about it because cancer research is a huge business. They give teenagers going through puberty meds to sedate them for depression and anxiety and shyness. They give women hysterectomies for headaches. I kid you not the womens hormones need to be put in balance which can be easily done with proper diet and herbs but they think the way to fix the problem of hormonal imbalance is to remove their uterus! I am so disgusted with this subject that I want to... well I won't even go there. Oh and Hasafer: the avatar is really making me want you even if you really are a man. How much do you charge for an eye exam? A spanking?

Reikominder
ya , too sad , they just want money , but i think there are also good doctors.

The most thing that make me want to kill the doctor , when he say for example : " oh, u can't wait , u need an important surgery now" , and its just flu or something , I mean they are not educated well or they are just killer machines.

But as I said b4 , still we have great doctors , like Ahmed shafik ( Allah yer7amoh ) ,

I wish u all a healthy and happy life.

I know what you are talking about, and I pray that me and my loved ones die in peace when our time comes without having to suffer in hospitals. After seeing what we go through in the supposedly "good" hospitals that charge you a fortune, I have come to pity those who cannot afford but to undergo the humiliation of public hospitals. It is inhumane and indescribable what they have to go through. Rabina ma3 ilgamee3.

@ hasafer: Are you happy now?! You are being hit upon by all the guys! How does it feel like to be on the receiving end? hehehe

Terminal illness in the sense that there is no cure is something and not getting proper treatment is something else.
I think you're afraid of the latter.
I agree with you, people loose their dignity when they are sick and dying, it needs a continuous conscious effort from health care providers to keep the patient dignified and retain the least amount of control over what happens to him and his body.
Just being flat in bed and everyone else upright gives you a feeling of inferiority and helplessness, everyone is stronger than you.
This aspect of medical care has been neglected for too long all over the world, but in Egypt it is a huge problem.
Medical schools in Egypt as far as I know , do not even address this subject to young doctors.
the main victim is the patient.

I totally agree ya kalooka , I would choose to die in an accident rather than to die under care of one of my colleges

aww that's sad. Health is the most important thing ever in life. Just be strong and have faith in Allah and don't think abt it much. We all have to go through what is supposed to happen to us in our lives, no more no less. Just live ur life at this time and be grateful to Allah for having given you a great health.

i'm afraid of being buried alive...
i'm not afraid of what u said, even though i know how ppl suffer, but i have another prespective of it,makes me feel at ease from that issue

i think anyone who says they are not afraid of being terminally ill is either lying or ignorant of what happens.
i have every intention of dying from a major heart attack in my sleep which comes out of no where with no warning. ohhh and this will happen when i am very very old i think and have done everyhting i want to do after a fantasitc night out.
have i missed anything out.......... some hope!

Crazy girl
I have a huge fear of having an injection. It all started when i was little and was having a little operation which i needed general anesthetic and this huge man laid on me to give me the injection, i was already scared of injections but that just topped it off. Ever since i have been really really really scared of injections even to now and I'm 18 if i have to have an injection i won't go my mum has to force me and it can take over an hour to give me an injection and the embarrassing thing is it can take more than 2 nurses to give me one little injection.

We are all terminally ill......but in the day to day sense, if one is terminally ill, he/she can such the opportunity to make du'aa, repent, do good deeds, and make sure they die with shahada on their lips....when we think about death, lets remind ourselves of how Allah(swt) tells us that so many will be begging on the day of judgement for just one more day, where they will promise to do good deeds etc. Do them now people....tomorrow is promised to know one, death is promised to alll.....Allahu Ahkbar..from HIM do we come and to HIM shall we return.
