I don't have an exact figure, but let's put it this way: if you look at a map of the entire Middle East, you have to use a magnifying glass to see Israel! It's darned small
I'm shocked that many people here don't realize that 80% of the land of Palestine was made into a Muslim nation (Jordan, then Transjordan) in 1923 to appease the Muslims.
Unfortunately, the Arabs wanted 100% domination of the Middle East and have been terrorizing Jews for that remaining 20% ever since. |

Israel has less than 1 tenth of 1% of the landmass of the earth. The Arab nations have 11% |

Your figure is correct paperback writer.
There will be a couple of misguided and self educated Israeli bashers who won`t be able to help themselves, so here`s a little article written unbiasedly by an Arab - just for them.

Because Jasmine is talking rabbish, I have to correct her now.
Israel makes up 0.01% of the Middle east but 0.005% of this was taken by force from the Palestinians.
Based on the partition plan in 1947, the palestinians have the right of half of the country. I know you're going to say Arabs started a war and Israelis took it while defending themselves, yes true but it is still taken by force since war and fighting is force no matter who started it.

Unfortunately there are ignorant bashers out there, and I see some have answered, despite your plea. This is a good question. The % is low about 1%. The tiny sliver of Isreal's land is claimed by others. Isreal's claim is that it is thiers. Isreal under pressure did gave back some land on the West Bank. Evedentally, it wasn't enough. Isreal is dealing from strenth, trying to protect what little land they have. Trust me they won't lose any more. |

Sorry this is not an actual answer to your question,
but I found this interesting site looking for the answer...

Hi Pape
I presume you realise you are wasting your time.
You are never going to get an anti-Zionist to change their views.
I used to try.
I have all the facts and figures at hand.
One that most pro-Palestinians have trouble with is, "Did you know that in the entire history of this planet there has never been a country called Palestine?"
However, I realised long ago that throwing facts at these people is just a waste of time and effort.
Now I just say to them, "Shalom and Salem. I hope you have a long, healthy and happy life. Goodbye." |

Israel is one of the tiniest nations on the face of the earth... only about 8,000 sq. miles, 2½ times the size of Rhode Island and only slightly larger than the Canary Islands!. It is only 260 miles at its longest, has a 112-mile coastline, 60 miles at its widest, and between 3 and 9 miles at its narrowest! A very high-powered rifle could launch a projectile right across the country! This is particularly frightening when one considers that 65% of Israel's population is within this 9-mile wide section (Tel Aviv area). Yet Arab propagandists call Israel "expansionist" and the "aggressor" against all Arab peoples. For those unfamiliar with the Arab interpretation of "aggressor," it means one who dares fight back against Arab aggression!! So even though Israel may have fought only defensive wars, the mere fact that she resisted total destruction is viewed as an "act of aggression." That's a case of wacky logic but, unfortunately, Israel doesn't have the luxury of picking her enemies! |

World surface area = 510 million sq km
World land area = 150 million sq km
Middle East area = 7 million sq km (spreading from Egypt to Turkey to Iran as per Wikipedia's definition)
Israel/Palestine = 27 thousand sq km (of which 6 thousand are the West Bank and Gaza Strip).
Therefore Israel/Palestine is roughly 0.4% of the Middle East, 0.02% of the global landmass, and 0.005% of the world's total surface area.
Which means it's a small area, but not that small - roughly a quarter of the world's countries are even smaller, including Lebanon (10 thousand sq km), Singapore (less than a thousand sq km), and the Vatican City (only half a sq km).
A huge chunk of the world's landmass is taken up by just a few big countries - Russia takes up 11% all by itself, and the next five biggest (Canada, US, China, Brazil, and Australia) account for a further 30% between them.
Hope that helps put it all into perspective!

Hiya Paperback, Mimi told me I could find you here. Can't comment on this question because I have no information about it but I would opine that Israel takes up the country it needs to to prosper. Perhaps your question should be 'how much of the middle east now as compared to 3000 years ago does Israel occupy'. Okay maybe lame but there it is. Keep plugging and let me know how I can find your questions on a more regular basis. Really missed you in the last few days. |

Manu answered well.
I really have a question- do all of you people seriously believe that all of the land that is Israel was "taken" from Arabs by force? Do you not know that some of it was originally ours?? That we purchased the land we didn't already have from Arabs for exorbitant prices? |

Israelis are killers

If you are speaking rightfully 0%.
The real home land for the Jews is Europe and America where they migrated from to the middle east.
Russians go to Russia
Germans go to Germany
British go to England
Americans go To America, etc |

Jasmine

yes Israel does take 0.01%! But that 0.01% was taken by force from the Palestinians! It doesnt belong to Israel! |

I would say that Israel has less than 1%.
Reading some of the answers you have attracted the Pro Muslims team who hate Israel and all the people that are Jews or pro Jews.
They need to read the bible and it says that Israel is the land of the Jews.
It is Muslims that can not get on with the rest of the world ,because of there hatred. |

Israel cover 0.01% of the middle east.
But the English took it by force1920 and then renamed it from Palestine to Israel 1947, and proceeded to fill it with the Yidish people from around Europe. as Europe, their rightfull home didn`t want them any more. Some of those Yidish families had lived in Europe for 10s of generations, and therefore had no legitamate claim on any Palestinian land..!!
Edit.
To show who really is ignaorant.
The country was known as Pelesheth by Jews, Israelis, and Arabs, until the Romans changed it to Palestine, to make their pronunciation easier.
The country was renamed Israel by the English in1947.
The Yiddish people that you are ignorant of are the remnents of the Israel tribe that Yahweh banished from Pelesheth in 650BC.
I`m a historian and only deal in facts..!! |

As far as I know without checking up on the details is that almost all of the eastern Mediterranean land mass was occupied by the Turks for over 300 years, who had to forfeit all land that they were occupying as they backed the wrong side of the WW1 and lost.
Behind the back of Laurence of Arabia the French demanded almost all of that area and left the British with only a small potion of those countries, including Palestine as it was known at that time.
There was no UN mandate on this until after the WW2 when colonisation was being challenged by the rightful owners the Palestinians and Israel was only given a small portion of the land mass and would only been about 2 or 3% of Palistine.
It must be remembered that immergration into Palestine at the time was concidered illegal and those who were caught were sent back to mainland Eroupe.
Civil war broke out and Israel won against Siria and the likes. In fact they belted the living daylights out of the Arabs.
Since the 1966 conflict Israel has gained more and more land within the occupied zone and that is what the disagreement is about.
The main players are the Zionists and Fatra parites left over from that great little laughing man Assaar Arrifate, who these two antagonists will never really get on together otherwise the rest would just want to live in peace and harmony as they worship the same God.
Bloody Spell check never works when you want it to. |

A good bit of that 0.01 % is stolen land to.
Who cares how much land israel takes up in the middle east?
Will the Israelies say "we are gonna take 1 percent of the middle east cause the arabs have 99%"
Does that make the land stealing ok?
No it doesnt.
Land stealing is not ok. but invading Israel like a few countries did is un acceptable to!!! I Make that clear.
pr '67 borders all the way!
btw its kinda obvious your trying to make a statement not a question lol |

it is 0.01% but unfortunatly, Bush our lovely arab friends want to drive them into the sea by creating another arab rough state out of israel, even though saudi arabia, jordan, bgypt syria and iran can each contain 400 palestines(if you sum up the space that no nobody lives in. |
