they didn't seem to mind what we wore there when I went 17 years ago - thousands of tourists go there every year, so they have seen it all! Trousers are a good idea, as you may like a camel ride |

Coley, the pyramids are one of the places were you can were shorts and tees etc without infringing on the rules of respect for Islam.
You will see very few Egyptians there, but thousands of tourists just like your self. It is a very hot open area in the summer months so make sure you take a hat, water bottle and your sunnies. When I say shorts don't bring short shorts to Egypt but normal shorts or knee length cargo's etc are absolutely fine.
When you go out on the streets of Cairo and especially to markets etc refine your dress code out of respect for the Muslim culture.
But scrambling around the historic sites its comfort first and respectful decorum second.
I don't think you intend wearing "Daisy Mae's" and a bra top do you? |

clothes would be the best answer but lol
you can wear any thing made of cotton since it's in the desert. a hat will be usefull too.
you may bring with you sun glasses or reguler one because there will be alot of dust.
but for sure u're not gonna wear the sun glasses inside the pyramids because it's dark.
if you are going there on may, tell me cause i may be there ;) |

It is a very hot place so make sure you have light clothing and cover the parts that might get burned. Watch out for the camels and especially the men who ride them. There are Policemen there who do their best to discourage the vendors. |

Depending on the season of the year I reckon shorts or jeans and t/shirts and sandals |

You should wear lightweight pants and a t-shirt. Don't wear anything offensive or too revealing. Just search online for people's travel photos and you can get a sense of what others are wearing. |

I doubt it, they are probably used to American tourists. Wear whatever you would normally wear, because I don't think theya re like sacred anymore to them, but dress lightly, its hot in Egypt (no duh) |

doesn't really matter what you wear cus you WILL get hassled to buy stuff regardless!!! i wore linen trousers and a light kaftan and was absolutely fine. Take some bottled water, loads of change in case you are tempted to buy anything and go on an organised excusion if possible; it's just soooo much easier (and the guides will chase the beggars away for you so you won't look like a meany.) |

There is no dress code. You are free to wear what you like in Tourist areas except inside religious places (Islamic or Christian)
As a professional in the tourism field, I feel better when I see tourists respect the great monuments like the Pyramids. You can wear your jeans, shorts or whatever but not very sexy clothes of course. The Pyramids area is not deep in the dessert it's close to hotels and streets. (Cairo & Giza) are considered one city (Cairo) . The ground around the Pyramid is sand and you may like to go inside and use the long stairs, so you better wear good shoes for that.
Although camel owners may speak about 6 langauges, but they are there with other sellers only for business. People are get used to all nationalities and it's very safe.
Welcome to Egypt and wish you a nice trip |

You can wear pants from lighter fabric so you don't get too hot and blouses too. You will want to take a scarf or two to cover head just in case (regarding local customs/religion). Have fun and stay safe! God bless. |

should see what some wear, makes the egyptian men very happy but the women frown. dress sensibly. You are not on the beach in sharm.the pyramids are no longer in the desert as cairo or Giza as it is known is almost full of hotels etc built up around the area, do not wear one of these. Where to buy professional belly dance costumes in egypt and how much are they there usually? |

I am sure you must be aware that this is a muslim country and in this case you should be fine wearing long sleeved light cotton blouse and light cotton trousers. Don't show too much flesh. Travelling to any country I try and observe the dress code and the customs as much as I can out of total respect for my host country and it's people. It will be hot anyway and so you may also want to wear a hat to keep the sun off.
Have a great time, I am going to Egypt in September it's Ramadan then so the rules are even more important then.
Even though you are a tourist and most countries love them for the money they bring, they don't like tourists who disrespect their country. |
