don't worry, your mother-in-law just expressing her wishes, but this doesn't mean that she will condemn you afterwords if you give birth to a girl..

Just smile and "say inshallah ya mama"..
and even suggest names for boys and share what names she like.. and then tell her "but what if i gave birth to a girl.. ok i will name her after you sweety"... don't mean to make fun of her,, no say it as you really mean it.. and even np if you really do that for her...

the issue is to make her feel at ease with you, as you her daughter (not her daughter in law)...
imagine you do this conversation with your mum... i think your attitude and responses will differ.

Adonbonn's right..the gender of the child is determined by the fathers DNA not the mothers..well I mean of course it is for Allah(swt) but I mean he made the male DNA the scientific factor in gender.
So whatever happens Rabina ebarak fee...and just ignore your mother in law. If you let her get you into a discussion she is the only one who can "win"...so just let her keep saying silly things and others will only fault her
