Woaw, this is a really tough question. Especially as we do not watch television at all. Books are such a big part of our lives.
At the moment my favourite book for my little boy is "I love you Stinky Face" by Liza McCourt. It is great, and just tell him I will love him no matter what.
If I have to choose... then "The Master Key System" by Charles Haanel. I feel that installing those principles in his life, and him getting a reminder of it every day, will be the best way for me to help him live a happy and fulfilled life. |

Machiavelli, The Little Prince. It deals topics on how to control and rule people. It discusses being loved verse being feared, strategies for war, how deal and control your enemies. I figure if we live in a society that will allow only one book to be read, these dissertations will be useful. |

Oh Zxcv I love to read just do not have the time anymore, why only one book? Some of you propably had to "learn" this book at school but really one of the many books I have read and reread is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It teaches us racial empathy, about the love a parent has for his kids, sibling love....I just love that book. I know I am only allowed to choose one book, but they also have to read The World according to Garp by John Irving, it will teach them that being different is okay, somewhere in us all is something that makes us special....oh and also Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck, about the "flops" of society who live in "flophouses"/boarding houses.......it will teach them that those people society regard as flops are not necessarily flops and teach them to judge people for themselves and not by the "rules" society makes. |

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - JRR Tolkien
It's a magnificently written book, with fairytale elements to keep children interested and can also teach kids about values such as loyalty and friendship.
By far my favourite book! |

It would have to be a compendium of all Roald Dahl´s books for children. He had the ability to turn the everyday world into an adventure. But, his adult books are equally excellent.
LisK, I must agree on John Steinbeck´s books. |
