You can't. It's not an ethnicity,it's a religion. The only reason half the world's "Jews" are really atheists but call themselves jews is so they can defame anyone who gets in their way as a so-called anti-semite. |

Call me ignorant and someone help me out here because I really don't know, but isn't Judaism or being Jewish your religion and not your nationality? So if that is the case then you can stop being Jewish at anytime and call yourself an Atheist. |

Spell, actually the Nationality is Israeli, not the race. I do know that if a Jewish woman marries a person of any religion, her children are considered Jewish, because it is passed on through the mother. People stop being a religion when they either convert to another one, or become atheist. Many Jewish people here claim it is only a religion, and not a race or ethnicity, so that would be the only thing which makes sense. |

Logically Speaking, if a person stopped following Judaism then he/she is no longer Jewish.
If they still call themselves Jewish, then they are Hypocrites. |

It is obviously idiotic; you will never meet any "secular" Catholics or Muslims. Jewishness not not exist; there is no such ethnicity. Anyone can become "Jewish" by conversion. There are Ethiopian jews,Yemenite jews, although most are European. It is a very small religion with about five million members and they have almost totally destroyed the Holy Land and they should be removed. |

Generally, the use of the Jewish term is used to talk about to three groups: those that have Jewish ethnic origins, those that practice the Judaism, and those that are identified like such by their cultural and historical identification. Halajá, the Jewish law, gives another definition of the Jewish identity. In agreement with the Jewish legislation, Jewish he is that one that: a) is son of Jewish mother (law who derives from the passage of Deuteronomio 7:1 - 5) or b) that one person that formally becomes to the Judaism under the halájica supervision of a recognized Bet DIN (cuts bean) presided over by three dayanim (judges). This process of conversion is developed in Jewish legal texts such as the Talmud, the Shulján Aruj and the interpretations of the rabbinical Orthodoxy. But besides that orthodox definition, other definitions like those of the reformist, reconstruccionistas and liberal currents exist that affirm that he is Jewish that one that has a Jewish father (in the generic sense, that is to say, a father or a mother). The Jewish humanism affirms that " is Jewish; who feels judío" without mattering if it has Jewish ancestry or if it makes a conversion religious.
By conversion
For being able to become to the Judaism is necessary to have an ample study on the Torá, enabled by Moré (Masterful) of life ordinate. The filters for the conversion to the Judaism although they vary according to the different currents, usually are very demanding since it looks for on the part of the rabbis who the conversion is sincere. In the past had examples of conversions in mass to Judaism as it is the case of the town of Samaria, that without being descending of Jacob in a physical sense embraced the Judaism although never they lost absolutely his beliefs and customs, thus the Jews of Jerusalem saw never them with total affability. Another case of conversion in mass is the one of Israel Beta, that is a Jewish community conformed by black people, whose origin goes back to Reina de Saba according to the legend. Loss of the condition of Jew [for publishing] As far as the lost one of the Judaism, in agreement with the Jewish law (Halajá), does not exist way to lose the Judaism. Who is born Jewish or it becomes does not even lose his condition of Jew after committing one of the three worse sins: sexual paganism, murder or aberrations. In spite of this the Jewish law used another weapon against sinful of greater scale, excomulgar of the community (“the Herem” or “the Nidui”). The power of excomulgar of the community goes back to the first Biblical times, but it begins to use in systematic form during the Talmudic time in the Second Temple of Jerusalem and it was continued his use during the modern era. Maimónides, the Espinosas and Rabeinu Tam are some of the most important Jews that they were excomulgados. It is possible to limit that agreed to the Jewish law ways to be re-accepted in the community and this mark exist the fact that according to this one does not exist lost of the judeidad. |

At about the same time as a person can stop being "black". Have you noticed how in the U.S. especially a person of mixed parentage is always referred to as black? The same goes for a child whose parents were of mixed parentage and so on back into as far as they can trace even one drop of black blood. Men and women who are manifestly white are referred to, and refer to themselves as black because great-great-great-grandfather Ezekiel had a thing for one of the slaves.
You can not be a bit Jewish or an ex-Jew, only a lapsed one..same with Roman Catholics and a lot of other groups..and being only "lapsed" there is always the hope that you will find your way back into the fold. |

A person who is born to a Jewish Mom is a Jew. period.
If they stop believing in Judaism and classify themselves as atheist of non-believer, they are a non-religious or non- observant Jew.
If they convert to another religion and denounce the Jewish G-d, they are not considered a Jew unless they want to come back to Judaism in which case they don't have to convert because they were born Jewish. |

A Little bit strange question, asked by supposedly Greek, but providing example of the Muslim husband. and Jewish wife.
One does not have to be shrink to realize that all Muslim symptoms are present:
1. Desire for Jews to disappear.
2. Demography victory as a way to get it.
2. Dream to have a woman, even Jewish.
3. Calling somebody Moron without argument.
These are all legitimate desires, but if you want others to disappears, why you have to hide under fake identity. Why you are not proud of yourself? |

When you change your attitudes and behaviours. A child born of a Jewish woman and Muslim man, depending on the type of "Jewish woman" she is and "Muslim man" he is, would probably not have the attitudes and behaviours identifying him/her as Jewish given that the "Jewish woman" (or mom) married out of the faith...usually not someone expecting that the child will remain Jewish and not do what she herself did! The question is then about the early upbringing and environment of the child and the children with whom he/she grows up. Jews are not born as Jews but have a very strong proclivity to become or develop as Jews. A person's character is pretty much developed by the age of puberty, and by "character" I mean attitudes and behaviours. There is a Jewish saying that if a person won't [fall into trap and] be a thief, he might wind up as a judge [given his innate talents]. Atheists are not born atheists or forced to be atheists. The real Question is what made him become or turn to atheism! Why could he not express himself in Judaism? A real Jew finds a way to get through given that he is in a Jewish place; however, that place may be stifling to his OWN Jewish personality. On the other hand, Jews will NOT tell you that you may not be an atheist, whereas Muslims will tell you what you may or may not be...tell YOU your religion! That is THEIR nature! |

When do you stop being Jewish? When a muslim chops off your head.
no seriously I hope one day people can look at ones religion(what they believe) as something that is not passed down genetically. A mothers Jewish so her children are Jewish? My daughters children have a pakistani father. Are they muslim? Muslims have told my daughter that if she does not raise them muslim then she will have the worst place in hell. buncha morons. They told her this in front of my grandchildren. Luckily the grand kids are already smarter than them and saw it as just plain hatred. The oldest grandson(10) asked his mom "did they just say that to scare you?" Even a child of 10 saw through that.
Let's be who our heart tells us to be and stop putting labels on people because of who their parents are. |

One can never "stop being Jewish" whether they want to or not. It's called the "purity of the blood" (which is carried by the mother). |
