I never bribed anybody!!
Bas ba-asharab shay!!! Lol

Me
well Hatem: in all m life ,I never bribed anyone, and to be honest , I may gave 20 pounds for the tea boy who helped me to have my Egyptian ID done,, I heard from my partner in business , (not Egyptian) he was bribing a Fresh doctor in Guinea , (i do not want to mention the organization but it was western)to have orders from us, The woman wanted to be back to her country as soon as possible and wanted to make money,,
I came actually to answer you and MR, Forest who claims that in the west they do not bribe !!! Actually bribing was invented there, starting by a bottle of wine till millions,Millions of Dollars, Let me give you some examples,, The Charmian of Tyco (one of the biggest paramedical company in the world) was in jail in a huge bribe case (anyone can google that case),,,Lots of companies were involved in bribe cases in the USA actually and in the west ,,
-- Electronic equipment maker Siemens AG has agreed to pay $1.4 billion Monday to U.S. and German authorities after the company allegedly engaged in bribery, the SEC said in a release.
-- Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham tearfully resigned from Congress on Monday after pleading guilty to charges that he took at least $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors and others.
--Blagojevich the Governor of the U.S. State of Illinois was arrested on Federal corruption charges in early December 2008. The Illinois House of Representatives voted in January 2009 to impeach Blagojevich by a 114-1 vote, the first time such an action has been taken against a governor of Illinois. The corruption charges involved conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery

Do you know Hatem what it does mean that 1.9 million person ,did/ do not pay their mortgage in the USA for their homes,,,(one of the reason of the financial crisis),, That means there are 1.9 million persons in USA who stole (hahaha borrowed) money from banks to buy houses and never return this money back
So please MR.Forest .give me a break, and please do not issue those Hollywood statement,, you know as I know they are not correct good day.

are you kidding !! nothing in this country could accomplish without bribes,, I do that most of the time ,, I have to bribe the employees in the court in order to get my work done- even if they should do that without bribes-, walahi ya hatem I do bribe the elevator worker in the court center at "Abasya" or i won't able to use it , I have to bribe traffic policemen every week for a reason or without reason ' y3ni lazem akrmsh shleen keber wa7to fe gebo', I did bribe 20 employee ' toob el 2ard ' in the traffic station to renew my car licenses - walahi 7ata beta3 el kanteen - even if it's my right, now back again to ur question when last the last time i have bribed someone -ayhoma fahom kesro- lol
--------------------------------------
@ Rodi, you gave thumbs down nehark ko7li lol al tip al
--------------------------------
@lily ,, we do pay bribes due to they finish our work , we don't pay bribes to do illegal issues, i.e its my right to renew my car licenses as long as I keep the rules,, but sometimes employees do delay on purpose, so you have two options, spend a week to have ur issues done or pay bribes ??

This is a funny question. Well actually its not the question that is funny but the answers.

it sounds funny that people are sooo shocked that there is even the thought of bribing someone in Egypt, like it never ever happens lol

As far as I can see it is not a choice here but a neccesity. When the police stop you in your car for whatever reason they can find or try to choose, it seems if you do not offer them a small gift of money they will not leave you alone and will end up giving yuo a ticket for 60LE or more. Now I know the argument is that you shouldnt do anything wrong then to be in this position and i suppose thats right but its easier said than done for some people in some situations.

My husband went to do papers for his business, so that everything is legal for his new business and when we was standing in one of the offices, he was told he had to pay the staff money just to get someone to look at his papers today, if not they will keep them for a week or more before they look at them, and then possibly deny them. The security man, the one who told him to give the office clerk 'the gift' also told him to give more when he gave him 10LE. I was in shock, as this happened throughout the day and we honestly had no choice, we were backed into a corner we either pay the money or not get anything in return and we would have wasted the 5000LE we paid for the papers to be legal. Its not even a joke. Even thinking about it I am fuming.

When I collected my things from Cargo in Egyptair, if I didnt pay the 'gift' money they told me, they would keep my things for another 2 months. :( And they said it straight out not even hiding it I was gobsmacked, but after spending the whole day in the heat there waiting for help and someone to assist us I was so near to tears I just paid him and then we got my things and left. I didnt feel there was a choice :(

Now those that say this doesnt happen in the West have it mixed up, the difference tho is in the west it is normally to get something done possibly illegal. here it is to get anything done at all. What I mean is here it is openly done, you know if you slip someone some money they will be helpful or whatever but in the UK it isnt so open or so widely accepted.

:(

never.
but it was not because bribery does not exist in west, believe me, all of you who said that, are deeply deeply mistaken.
i never bribed someone because it contradicts my moral standards, it contradicts the ideals i have.
you may say that i live in a dream world and do not realize the hardship of life, but it is not so. i do see and i do realize. i just do not want to be like that. my conscience does not allow me to do that. that was the way i was raised.
my parents raised me to be honest, to say the truth, to always keep the word i gave, to be faithful to my promises...
too bad for those who think that this does not pay off in life. or that the beliefs i have are old fashioned and do not correspond the state of things today.
--------------
@Jimmy- but if majority does it, it does not make it right.
i will never agree with the saying that the end justifies the means...
