Where did you spend your best childhood memories?

In the Azores till the age of 13 with no toys or gadgets it was the best chilhool ever I could run free and play all day outdoors with no worries. I would make my own toys, I enjoyed my childhood very much cuz I was free of all the dangers you hear about in our days.

When I used to sit on my dad's lap as a kid and listen to stories he made up himself ... I still remember the one about bayya3 ilbatata! Everytime 3arabiyit ilbata jumped in the air my dad would make me jump in the air too as he shook his knees! :) I also used to love playing with my dad ... he always teased me and I'd tease back ... we'd make so much noise my mom would be screaming begging for some peace and quiet! looool

I also cherish the memory of my mom smiling at me every time she washed my hair and lifted the towel off my face after drying me up ... I would always look forward to that smile. And sitting on my mom's feet as she sat and moved her legs up and down, swinging me up and down ... being pushed on the swing in the park ... my dad's BBQs ... me playing the role of ilwad bilya handing my dad il3ida as he did any repairs around the house ...

Climbing up hills, viewing the rice fields, drinking/eating fresh coconuts, enjoying the guava fresh scented air, picking flowers and fruits, rolling down the grass, climbing hillsides, feeling the sand on my feet/swimming at the beach, savouring the smell of the salty sea, fishing, enjoying the colorful wonders of nature. Wow.. I miss it so much!
