sharm el shek i wetn too in may really nice and snorkelling is a must and fly to cario from sharm it cheap and namba bay good place to eat and nightlife try discount holiday centre from the net enjoy where ever u find take care drink bottled water and take plenty of sun cream

Go to Sharm el Sheikh. Its a quiet resort, but within easy reach of nearby Naama Bay that has lots of night life. All the tour operators run excursions to the Pyramids, and theres plenty of other stuff to do like snorkelling, visiting St Catherines monastery and just soaking up the sun!

If you want to see the Pyramids then you have to be in Cairo. Very close to the centre of Cairo, taxis from hotels very cheap and very reliable, they will be yours for the whole day/evening. Must see is the Pyramids light show, complete with music and story of the Pyramids. Most of the major hotels have several restaurants in the hotel grounds or get the concierge to reccomend some. Le Meridian Pyramids is a lovely hotel, cosmopolitan but with a sense of Eygptian tradition, pool, good evening entertainment, lovely restaurants around the pool with views of the pyramids.

hurghada is a quiet town but also plenty of nightlife is also quite close to the nile and luxor and cairo where all the sights are so is a good base camp

Cairo is very noisy and crowded. We went to Luxor and stayed at the Movenpick crocodile island resort...excellent. You can use that as a base and take a trip up/down the Nile as far as you like. The valley of the kings and queens is awesome. Take a balloon ride over the Nile, it's breathtaking.

We went to Sharm el sheik but darharb is a really quiet area and much cheaper than sharm.

if you want to see the pyramids you have to go to Cairo as that is near to Giza, where you will find the 3 famous pyramids. if you want to see the valley of the kings you have to go to luxor and if you want diving and sea then the red sea is the obvious destination. unfortunately the 3 are some distance apart. it is possible to stay in the red sea and make a day trip to Cairo, it is also possible to do a two centre trip to either Cairo and red sea or Cairo and luxor. but i would not recommend a whole holiday in Cairo, it is very busy, noisy and not a particularly relaxing destination. most of the red sea destinations have quieter hotels, but most red sea places have some night life and are basically sun sea and sand destinations, while luxor is the cultural destination with some decent restaurants a few discos and some singers in the hotels. you should get sun in all 3 destinations but it will be warmest in luxor. there are other destinations in Egypt such as Alexandria ( the med) and Aswan further south on the Nile. but if you want sun and sand go to sharm or other red sea and do a day trip. if you want a quieter destination go to luxor and either do a day trip or a 2 centre holiday.please feel free to e mail if you have any questions
