Knysna or Plettenberg Bay - not cities but beautiful towns within driving reach of bigger cities like Cape Town or Port Elizabeth. I've from that region myself and only return on hoidays now as my family have moved to New Zealand where children can ride around alone in peace. I couldn't feel relaxed and let them do that in the bigger cities in South Africa. The country's problems with crime have nothing to do with Apartheid, that ended in 1991 - the reason for the crime is the current government's inability/disinterest in putting a stop to it. |

That would probably Kestell in the Free State but be warned it is not a city - if you are speeding and you look right for 2 seconds you miss it and you better like dirt roads - lol there is only one tar road |

johannesburg for sure. most people say that its dangerous but that is merely a stereotype.
i grew up here and in the 24 years of my life i have been a victim of any crime here! i work as a paremedic and a rescue worker in my free time and i work in some of the worst parts of johannesburg and guess what? there is no danger at all! so johannesburg is the place to be |

That's for sure HeavyD! Where these trolls all come streaming from will always be a mystery to me and it's getting damn sickening! South Africa is a beautiful country and I still say that the crime is no worse than any other country. It's other things that we have issues with. |

my dad used to live there, and had to have bars on his bedroom windows. but that was back before '85... might have changed.
South Africa. beautiful country, but when it comes to being safe, they still have lots of problems left over from Apartheid. I hear Cape Town is lovely though. |

My friend has a house in Durban and says when she goes over she feels totally safe, has never seen a crime and they leave the house for 10 months of the year unattended and it has never been broken in to. |
