the best place in the middle east is Israel.
its the only true democratic country in the region, its the most advanced in technology Israel has a vibrant cultural life and a technologically and industrially advanced economy. In 2006, Israel was ranked 23rd out of 177 countries in the United Nations Human Development Index, the highest ranking in the Middle East and third highest in all of Asia.
israel has great tourism, which benefits from the plethora of important historical sites for Judaism and Christianity and from Israel's warm climate and access to water resources. Tourism in Israel includes a rich variety of historical and religious sites in the Holy Land, as well as modern beach resorts, archaeological tourism, heritage tourism and ecotourism.
israel has great tourist attractions which other countries in the middle east cant beat, like many great museaums Tel Aviv, Haifa, Herzliya, and Jerusalem have excellent art museums, and many towns and kibbutzim have smaller high-quality museums. The Israel Museum in Jerusalem houses the Dead Sea Scrolls along with an extensive collection of Jewish religious and folk art. The Museum of the Diaspora is located on the campus of Tel Aviv University. Israel has artist colonies in Safed, Jaffa, and Ein Hod, as well as three major repertory companies, the most famous being Habima Theater
Israel has the highest school life expectancy in the Greater Middle East , It is ranked 22 out of 111 nations.[46] Israel also has the highest literacy rate in the Middle East according to the UN.Israel has eight universities and several dozen colleges. According to Webometrics, of the top ten universities in the Middle East, seven out of ten are in Israel, including the top four.[48] The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is the only university in the Middle East ranked in the Webometrics premier top 200 of the world. Israel is the only country in the Middle East ( Also, Israel, out of all countries in the Middle East has the highest number of Yale University alumni.[49]
i can go on and on why Israel is the best, you cant match it. |

Iran!
You may say it is always in the news and against US, but this is the best place in Middle East.
Just think, why US (and US dependent countries) is so mad about Iran, but other countries are not.
And Iran is very rich in natural resources and recreational facilities, they really don't need to import raw materials, no wonder some countries wants to occupy Iran.
Consider Middle East is a piece of cake, after you eat the all icing all that will be left is Iran. |

I loved Oman. I went there for ten days and loved every minute of it. There's two great hotels in Muscat -- Al Bustan and the Chedi. The Chedi was beautifully zen with a great spa and restaurant. I visited several old forts around the country, and went on a camel safari in the desert. I also went to a turtle hatching conservation project in Ras something on the coast and it was beautiful scenery. I saw areas of the country where old Omani families had left for Zanzibar (and could hear traces of Swahili spoken in some areas). I went to a friday livestock market with bedouins and saw several old men in traditional dress with the Omani dagger. I saw Bedouin women in colourful gowns and black masks. I went to some wadis and hot springs. I saw traditional dhows in the harbors.
Everywhere I went, people were friendly and said hello or waved. I hardly saw any other western tourists. It's clean and modern while at the same time, very proud of its history and traditions. It's a great mix of old and new and I recommend it to anyone.
I also enjoyed all my travel in Syria -- despite all the media and political images, it is a fabulous place with great people, food, historical sites, etc.
To be honest, the only place I didn't really like in the Mideast was Kuwait because it seemed too Texan to me but everywhere else -- Egypt, Jordan, Dubai (more like Las Vegas), Turkey, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Israel and Palestine were fun and nice holidays for different reasons. I still would like to visit Iran and Yemen. Not sure if Libya is considered Mideast but would also like to go there. I have been to Iraq and seen some of its old cities but would not visit now until things are calmer.
PS: I am American. |
