Theoretically, Iâ€™d go for choice 2 because old cars, even with good condition, eventually need a "mÃ©canicien", and regardless of the inconvenience, in every country the mechanics "nossabin".

In reality, Iâ€™m going for choice 3 (actually shared public transportation, not even taxis)

I would choose option number one but be very choosy & get a late model with low mileage .
The reason being cars are not an investment , they depreciate not appreciate .That said , the moment you drive your new car out on the road it becomes a used car & loses thousands of dollars in value.
If you choose wisely , buy a late model with low kilometres & proof of regular servicing you should end up with a more economically sound deal !

My first choice is to walk or ride a bike/skateboard. However, in Orange County, California, where our public transportation is an absolute joke, it's sometimes necessary to drive. In that case I choose #1.

if you think that car is just for transport:
it depends on where you live. if you don't need to use car very often, then (3), bcs to own car means to have also expenses that you will not have if you don't own one :)
and in other cases, maybe (1). if it is in a good condition and previous owner took a good care, then why not.

if you think that it is more:
then definitely 2! :)

If we had good public transport like in Europe, I wouldn't buy a car. That said, I'd pick #1. I don't care wether the car I'm about to buy, is used or not.

1- I prefer to buy a used car but in a good condition as long as i don't pay installments

2-I prefer to buy a new car from the company and pay installments as long as i can

you see a car is a car as long as it drives then it is good !!!

Number 2 I prefer to buy a new car from the company and pay installments as long as I can. I've had alot of used cars some good and some not so good. But I've had very good luck with new vehicles. You must remember that you need to do the preventitive maintance on a new vehicle and it should last you for years.
