The land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people. Our claim to the land is both religious and historical. After all, Jews have had a continued presence in Israel for 3,000 years and have never relinquished their claim. Arabs rejected the United Nations resolution of November 29, 1947 calling for the establishment of two states in Palestine, with an all out war to eliminate Jews enacted by the Arab world. After the 1967 War -- another war of Arab aggression -- Israel recovered a small remnant (13% in whole) of what was promised to them by the UN -- eventually handing back the Sinai Desert for peace with Egypt in 1977.
Between 1948-1967, Jordan and Egypt, who governed the West Bank and Gaza, respectively, never offered to surrender those lands to form an independent Palestinian state. No Palestinian organization ever sought an independent state. No Arab country had even suggested its existence. An Arab Palestine has never been the name of any nation or state. 'Palestine' was a geographical term used only to identify administrative boundaries within larger empires, nothing more.
The purpose of a separate Palestinian State was defined faultlessly by the late Zoher Moessein, head of PLO bureau of military operation:
"There is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians and Lebanese; we are all members of the same nation. Solely for political reasons are we careful to stress our identity as Palestinians. Since a separate State of Palestine would be an extra weapon in Arab hands to fight Zionism with. Yes, we do call for the creation of a Palestinian state for tactical reasons. Such a state would be a new means of continuing the battle against Zionism, and for Arab unity."
An offshoot of the occupation myth is the 'refugee' fabrication. It states that a significant portion of the Arab population was driven out of Israel by force during the 1948 War. It makes for good copy, but it's false. Egyptian activist, Edward Said, the most famous of these "refugees," for example, has been exposed as a fraud, as has this revisionist history.
Mark Twain, a man, one would think, as devoid of 'imperialistic Zionist' intentions, wrote in 1867 that Palestine was "a desolate country whose soil is rich enough but is given over wholly to weeds." Yet, Arabs have claimed that over a million refugees were forced from their homes during the 1948 War of Independence -- this number includes Arabs whose relatives entered Israel from 1946 onward. The number of Arab refugees is probably closer to 400,000, most of whom took it upon themselves to flee despite Jewish assurances that they would not be harmed. The contention that Arabs were removed by gunpoint is totally incorrect. Research by the Arab-sponsored Institute for Palestinians Studies in Beirut found that "the majority of the Arab refugees in 1948 were not expelled and 68 percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier."
In her meticulously researched book, From Time Immemorial, Joan Peters proves that a roughly equivalent number of Jewish refugees were expelled from Arab nations during the same period -- 120,000 from Iraq alone. It is estimated that one million immigrants were integrated into Israel's society from 1948-1950.
None of them, on the other hand, were confined for life to refugee camps.

Facts and the Bible BOTH in reality indicate the Arabs are. The Arabs of Canaan are the Arabs of Palestine. They were there AT LEAST EQUALLY as long as the Jews/Israelis, but they had a constant presence and a defined land. The Jews were nomadic and had NO land until what was taken from the Palestinians in 1948. Both Jews and Arabs have the same father, Abraham, whom although Semitic, possibly Hebrew, was not considered Jewish. Abraham, his parents, and his ancestry is from Babylon, which is, in fact, INSIDE THE ARABIAN PENISULA, the origin of the Arab peoples. So he may very well have been Arab.

Palestine is a name which has been widely used since Roman times to refer to the region that includes contemporary Israel and the Palestinian territories, parts of Jordan, and parts of Lebanon and Syria. In its narrow meaning, it refers to the area within the boundaries of the former British Mandate of Palestine (1920-1948) west of the Jordan River.

Palestine can also refer to the Proposed Palestinian State.

The name and the borders of Palestine have varied throughout history, though Palestine has certain natural boundaries that justify its historical individuality. Other terms that have been used to refer to all or part of this area include Arabistan, Canaan, Greater Israel, Greater Syria, the Holy Land, Iudaea Province, Israel, "Israel HaShlema", Kingdom of Israel, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Land of Israel, Levant, Retenu (Ancient Egyptian), Southern Syria, and Syria Palestina.

Early archeological textual reference to the territory of Palestine is found in the Merneptah Stele, dated c. 1200 BCE, containing a recount of Egyptian king Merneptah's victories in the land of Canaan, mentioning place-names such as Gezer, Ashkelon and Yanoam, along with Israel, which is mentioned using a hieroglyphic determinative that indicates a nomad people, rather than a state.

The promise that is the basis of the term "promised land" is contained in Genesis 15:18-21 of the Hebrew Bible:

"On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abrham and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates - the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites."

The verse is said to describe what are known as "Borders of the Land" (Gevulot Ha-aretz). In Jewish tradition these borders define the maximum extent of the land promised to the descendants of Abraham through his son Isaac(2nd born-the Jewish lineage and Ishmael the 1st born and the Arab lineage) and grandson Jacob.Even according to Jewish customs, the oldest son, which is Ishmael, is entitled to the father's inheritance, but because Sarah despised Ishmael, she wanted Isaac to get the inheritance and had Abraham exhile Ishmael. Neither is Ishmael illegitimate but the legal son of his SECOND wife Hagar-Genesis 16: "And Sarah Abraham's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abraham had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abraham to be his WIFE(my emphasis).

The promise is made to Abraham and the descendants of his son Isaac, and Isaac's son Jacob, Abraham's grandson as they are all given promise that their descendants will be given a territory from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates river. No where does it say the Israelis/Jews OWNED the land, nor were they to take it from, and, kill the Palestinians. The Israelis/Jews were given a land ONLY to reside in as many Jews already had among the Palestinians.God clearly states whom the land belongs to-"the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites." Of all these people, only the Palestinians whom are considered Canaanites, are still around. Except for Iran and Israel, Arabs own all of what was Canaan.

Fact, up to the British Mandate, the Jewish population was 4% Arabs have, and, STILL do make up the MAJORITY of the population regardless if you consider the Israel as part of it or not. Most of the Jews in Israel 1948 are actually foreign Jews-most from Europe. Up until then , Arabs were the Majority(and will be again in 25- 30 years-instantly, if Israel annexes the West Bank and Gaza strips-obviously, they are working hard to reduce/eliminate the Arab population).

Thumbs down-can you say any of these facts are a lie or inaccurate?

Lando and Dandyl: the Arabs have been there equally as long and have been the majority population right up to the British Mandate, then foreign Jews(TAKE NOTE) moved into the area-before this, the Jews most oftenly quoted as making up ONLY 4% of the population.Quite obviously, you have YOUR mind made up to.

*According to Alexander Scholch, GERMAN JEW AND PROFESSIONAL HISTORIAN, the population of Palestine in 1850 had about 350,000 inhabitants, 30% of whom lived in 13 towns; roughly 85% were Muslims(Arabs), 11% were Christian(Arabs and non Arabs) and 4% Jews.Scholch, 1985, p. 503.

Palestinian Demographics Link up to 1948

NO ONE can deny Abraham is from The Arabian Peninsula(Babylon/Iraq)

Teresa (SFECU) -†- pray4revival - You have got to be kidding-you realize Judea/Judah is a part of the Palestinian Arab West Bank currently occupied by Israel-there are about 210,000 Jews and about 1.5 million Arabs in the West Bank, little over 7 times as many Arabs there as Jews-very big difference wouldn't you say?Let me guess-the Israelis will decide they need to kill the Arabs and steal the land because the ERRONEOUSLY believe GOD gave them ownership, not just a place to reside.

Let's forget the ancient history which is in any event unreliable and take it from the top. It was a british Mandate following the breakup of the ottoman Empire and should have received it's independence along normal lines in 1946; but jews would have been a minority. So the UN just violated it's charter ("the right of all people to self-determination),refused to hold a referendum in Mandate Palestine and decided to carve it up to keep the Jews happy. It's been a nightmare ever since.

Theresa
Both.

That is like asking who the United States belongs to - Native Americans or European Immigrants and their descendents. There is no correct answer.

The people who live on a land need to learn to get along with one another, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or historic backgrounds.

The planet belongs to all of us, and making borders around areas and saying only certain people can live there is a sure fire way to start wars.

There was no such ppeople as the Palestinoians before 1967. The Arabs living around Israel were just regular Arabs like thise in Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt. In addition the Arabs aroundIsrael were very nomadic. They did not stay in one place very long.

So the territory of Palestine truly belongs to the Jews.

Israel is and has always been the National Homeland of the Jewish People. Only when the Jewish People no longer exist, could that land belong to somebody else. The Saudi Arabs squatted on the land while the Jews were in exile, and when the Jews returned the Arabs refused to return it, especially after the Jewish People had been decimated by the Nazis, and the Arabs rather than welcoming them back tried keeping them out, which goes against their own religion, since the Jews were returning to their own homeland which had been theirs prior to the Arabs from Saudi Arabia settling there. The problem stems from Muslim expansionism, AND ISLAM HAS STILL NOT BEEN THWARTED. Your friends may someday have to answer this very same Question with the words "Europe" or "United States" substituted for "Land of Israel".

Joke: A Palestinian UN Representative said his speech. Then the Israel rep. stood up. "Before I begin my speech I would like to tell you a story. Moses, one day decided to take a bath in the red sea. When he came out all of clothes were gone. and who stole his clothes, why the palestinians."
The palestinian rep. stands up and shouts. "We did not, we weren't even there yet."

"Exactly." replied the Israel rep. "and that is what I'd like to start my speech with.

Our religion is SO much older than Christianity and Islam. Israel was ours since 1943 BCE when God came to Abraham. At the time mohamed and Jesus, weren't even close to being born.

Second of all when the Jews came to ISrael after WWII we came in buses seeking refuge after the freak in GENOCIDE and how do those innocent Palestinians welcome us? They start shooting at buses filled with innocent men, women, and children. Don't believe me? THEN READ A DAMN HISTORY BOOK, or WATCH THE HISTORY CHANNEL FOR ONCE!!!!!!

Say I own a house and rent it to Mr. Pal. The along comes Mr. Is who has a serious family connection to the house. He asks me to sell it to him. I do. Who does the house belong to now?

The British were the ruling government in the region called Palestine. They chose to give it to the Jewish nation as a homeland. The land belongs to the Jews.

Israel came there originally with the twelve tribes...and had self rule...
Later, they had self rule again in Solomon's kingdom...
In the early 1900's, the Jews started immigrating to that land and LEGALLY bought land from the arabs, and when the jews started building more settlements, the arabs started rioting and attacking the Jews.
During WW1, when it was the Ottomon empire, the British offered Israel their own state in that land if they helped overthrow the Turks, which they did...
When the British was given the palestine mandate from the League of Nations, Britian was told to "encourage the close settlement of the Jews", and immediately following that, the British gave 75% of Palestine to the Arabs, which eventually became Jordan, and the British broke their promise to the Jews.
The Arabs kept attacking the Jews, and to make the Arabs happy, the British made the White Papers, limiting the Jewish immigration to Palestine to next to nothing, and eventually banned all immigration, because the British wanted cheap oil.
The Jews kept immigrating however, kept building settlements peacefully, and kept growing their Jewish population.
The British finally decided to let the UN deal with Palestine, and the Un made the Partition plan 181, which would create two states.
The UN decided on who to give which land to by who had the MAJORITY POPULATION in each area.
The Jews accepted, but the arabs refused, and kept killing Jews.
After Israel was Legally declared a state, Israel told all Palestinians to STAY AND HELP CREATE EQUALITY FOR JEWS AND ARABS.
Immediately, all the Arab countries attacked Israel, forcing Israel to defend itself, and therefore expanded Israel's borders.
Who do you think it belongs to?

See the link below - the United Nations voted to partition Palestine, thus creating the state of Israel, in 1948. Nobody can dispute with any reason that the state of Israel has the legal right to exist. (Note that I say "with any reason": there are plenty of people on this site who don't know what "reason" means.) It is only the boundaries of the state of Israel that can rightfully be disputed.

jkyongi
The Israelites spent forty years wandering in the desert before they crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land. The people who lived there were called Philistines in the Bible. We would call them Palestinians. The Jews went from city to city massacring them. Sometimes they only killed the men, but usually they killed everyone, even children. It was OK though. They were obeying God's orders.

Sound familiar?

Israel is for and belongs to the Jews.

There are plenty of ways to prove that Israel is the righteous owner of the land of Israel. Here is a list of things that have been found that supports that the Jews belong there. Original manuscripts in Hebrew, artifacts, there have been 2 temples that history has recorded to have existed, there has been Kings of Israel in history. There is no evidence that the Palestinians ever existed there. Palestinians are Arabs that came from Jordan, Syria and Egypt. The Jews are the rightful owners.

The land of Israel belongs to God, and He has decided to give it to the Jewish nation,
in accordance with the covenant sealed on Mount Sinai, a covenant that no other nation
was willing to undertake. After a long exile, we've returned home. We bear no malice toward anyone
and seek no harm to anyone. But we will not surrender any portion of our land to foreign powers,
and if foreigners rise up against us to destroy us, we will fight against them¨

common error is to later think that all the Jews were pushed the Diáspora by the Romans, after the destruction of the Second Temple of Jerusalem in year 70 of the E.C., and then, 1.800 years, returned suddenly to Palestine demanding that gave back their country to them. In fact, the Jewish town has conserved nexuses with its historical mother country by more than 3,700 years. The Jewish town founds its right to the Earth of Israel on at least four premises: the 1) Jewish town colonized and developed the Earth, 2) the international community granted to the Jewish town political sovereignty to him in Palestine, 3) the territory was taken in 4 defensive warfares and) God promised the Earth to Abraham patriarch. Even after the destruction of the Second Temple of Jerusalem and of beginning of I exile, Earth the Jewish life of Israel continued and, frequently, it prospered. For century IX great communities in Jerusalem and Tiberias had recovered. In century XI, there were Jewish communities in Rafa, Gaza, Ascalón, Jafa and Cesarea.
The cruzados massacreed to many Jews during century XII, but the community recovered in next the two centuries insofar as great number of rabbis and Jewish pilgrims immigrated to Jerusalem and Galilea. Prominent rabbis settled down communities in Safed, Jerusalem and in other places during next the 300 years. At the beginning of century XIX - years before the birth of the modern Zionist movement more than 10,000 Jews vivíanen the territory of the present Israel.2 the 78 years that lasted to raise the nation, as of 1870, culminated in the reestablishment of the Jewish State. The “certificate of international birth” of Israel was validated by the Jewish estadidad in the Earth of Israel in the Biblical times, the uninterrupted Jewish presence as of the time of Joshua; the Declaration of Balfour of 1917; the mandate of Liga of the Nations, that incorporated the Declaration of Balfour; the admission of Israel in 1949; the recognition of Israel by the majority of other states and, mainly, the society created by the town of Israel in decades of prosperous and dynamic national existence.

Since there is really no such thing as a "Palestinian" the answer is that it belongs to the Jews. The term "Palestinian" was made up by the romans to describe Jews who lived their. Now this so called group of people is actually not linguistically, nor culturally different from Jordanians.

And besides, wouldn't you say the last thing we need is another Muslim country based on the garbage from the Quran?

That being said the Jews,There has been a Jewish presence in that land for 4000 years Archaeologists have proven this. Many Palestinians are descendants of migrant workers with no historical ties or claim.

The First Dragon
ACTUALLY it belongs to the Israelis.
You see, it used to be a part of the Ottoman Empire. It was not a nation then. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire in WWI, it was divided up into new nations (which were organized enough to govern themselves) and Mandates, regions that were assigned to European countries to govern and get them ready for self-government. The UK was assigned a region which they called the British Mandate of Palestine. It had not been called Palestine under 400 years of Ottoman rule, so I guess the name sounded historic, neutral, maybe even pro-Jewish. Anyway, they planned from the beginning to start a Jewish homeland there, which they though was needed.
Now under Ottoman rule, the Jews had dhimmi status (second class citizens) and were apparently tolerated under those conditions, at least some of the time. But after the UK took over, a movement arose among some of the Arabs to kill or expel all Jews from the Mandate lands. It was really fierce, just like modern "Palestinians." They were allies of Hitler, too.
So after WWII, the UK and the UN divided the Mandate of Palestine, giving most of it to establish Jordan, a smaller percentage to establish Israel; and the Gaza Strip was given to Egypt.
The establishment of Israel provoked the Arab-Israeli War; but Israel won, and remained in existence.
Israel seemed satisfied, except that people from West Bank (which belonged to Jordan) and the Gaza Strip (which belonged to Egypt) kept shooting rockets into Israel's towns; so finally Israel took them over. Now Egypt and Jordan don't want them back. They are encouraging them to form their own Palestinian state, which Israel also supports, as long as they will allow Israel to exist also. This is the sticking point, of course. Palestinian extremists don't want Israel to exist; they want to rule it, unrealistic as this idea may seem. They can't even seem to rule themselves, but factions fight among each other; literally fight, and kill each other.
So Israel is stuck with the job originally given to the UK: get West Bank and the Gaza Strip ready for self-government. Israel even left Gaza in 2005, and do not rule there anymore; but Gazans have never stopped shooting rockets at Israel.
