I've met quite a number of BOTH, -& all were positive experiences. They were PEOPLE; just like all the rest of us. And the sooner EVERYONE comes to grips with that, the more PEACEFULL this World is going to be... :)

I met and made friends with a Jewish girl in my swimming class this year. She was nice. She had a necklace that she wore all the time with a jewish symbol on it, I forget what the symbol meant. I am Catholic, she is Jewish, and we got along great. Neither one of us was judgemental towards the other. Religions shouldn't tear people apart or forbid them from being togather as friends. God never wanted that. He said that one day the lion will lay with the lamb.......

I have met quite a few Israeli Arabs in real life (Muslim ones and Jewish ones). Nice, normal people! (Imagine that...lol....)

I've known many Jews. Our next door neighbors when I was 12 were Jews. I thought they were the most wonderful people. We did many things together. My mother got sick quite a bit and our neighbor (I forget their names now - it's been almost 40 years) would bring over Kosher foods for our dinner. I learned to love it! We got some of her recipes. Matzo ball soup is a favorite of mine. We also attended the synagogue with them a couple of times, then they'd come to church with us. I have very fond memories of that time.

I also went to school with some kids who were Jews. The one thing that still stands out in my memory about one of them is that he was the only teenager I knew who would tell his parents he loved them in front of his friends and not get embarassed. I was really impressed by that to the point that I started doing it, too.

I have met a Jewish person in real life who emigrated from Jerusalem , spent time in their army, and is a great person. He is a very talented chemist who works in research.I have not met a Palestinian , at least not to my knowledge.

Samantha
My chem teacher in high school was Palestinian... she's the only Palestinian I know...

But I know lots of Jews... some who we are close friends with and some who we just know...

My experience wasn't anything out of the ordinary... they're people after all!

MikeInRI
Gosh the first person I met in my life was Jewish people - of course being the son of a happy married Jewish couple that would make some sense no? As for Palestinians the first ones I ever met were when I was 11 years old and I have met many others since then (one Palestinian guy substitute teaches at my school - many of the kids like him). I had some Palestinian friends back in college and with one major exception (when a group of Palestinian youths attack the group of people from my temple while we were praying outside of the old city - and this was definately an unproved attack this dopes did upon us) I have never had a bad experience personally with Palestinians.

Good Luck!!!

You and millions of others have met and have had many contact with Jews without even knowing it. The teller at a suppermarket, your doctor , your hair dresser, You might ask how is this possable......very simple they look like any Christian,Palistinian, Roman Cathlic . I don't know where you live or what your motive is for asking this question. Wakie.wakie ....It's the 21st century the Jews don't have to wear a badges to identify themselves.

Ok Hopeless I forgive you.

ABC is so full of crap! Makes me laugh :))) What a drama-queen! :)))

I have met Palestinians as well as other Arabs. Cannot say anything bad in general, except when they got the hint that I was a supporter of Israel I could feel their hatred without them obviously showing it.

MBC
I've met lots of both kinds of people.

Some of my best friends in my school days were Jewish. I had a couple of Israeli friends in school and one in college, too. My general impression of them was very positive. Sure, there were some JAP (Jewish American Princess, NO OFFENCE INTENDED!!) girls in my school, but the kids I hung out with not stuck up and spoiled like that. I think that I connected with them so well (I had way more than my fair share of Jewish friends) because they were a minority. Somehow that made them more accessible to me because I always felt different from the mainstream kids and I guess they did to, but for different reasons.

As for Palestinians, I've met many of those as well. I've only had one close Palestinian friend, but I have spent a lot of time with them communally in the mosque, at work as a teacher, and at women's parties. I would say that there is a sadness and anger about many of them stemming from their feelings about their recent history and current situation. There are many different mentalities, from secular, to culturally Muslim, to strict Muslims, to jihadis. Some of them I could get along with and some of them I couldn't. The ones that came out of the refugee camps with no education and shall we say less than civilized manners I had a hard time with. Those women who were college-educated I found to be very thoughtful and dynamic. The ones whose hatred for Israel allows them to support the murder of innocent civilians, well, I couldn't tolerate them at all, but fortunately I've only met a couple of those.

My best girlfriend is Jewish.

I don't think I've ever met any Palestinians face-to-face.

In my experience, there are good people and bad people no matter who they are or where they come from.

Donnie Mac
I have met both and the alleged Palastinian was always whining about people picking on him and the Arabic race.

EU Citizen
Ive never actually met a jewish person before, I've met a Palestinian twice.

The guy who set up my computer is from the West Bank and some person my mom met came over here and hes not really a palestinian but his family is from there.

Hes from Toronto like u but he speaks arabic and hes wifes from Jordan.

We had a dog in our house and when the partly parlayzed labrador came running up to his wife she screamed so loudly and jumped up on the couch, i had to move the dog with the mind of a 3 year old from her and the cats to.

Apparently in jordan dogs and cats are dangerous...

CEDARLEB - I know what you mean and don't worry, B argues with everyone.

I guess the second part of the question is the bit for me to answer:

Although I've known many Muslim people, I've only ever known two Palestinians. It was during my first year at Uni; there were two girls in one of my politics classes; they kept to themselves very much but they were very striking looking and I gathered they were from the middle east, I just wasn't sure where exactly!

Eventually we got talking and they told me they were Palestinian. It later transpired they were from Syria so I was a bit confused! I found them very interesting to talk to - they were incredibly knowledgeable about middle eastern history and politics. We had quite a few conversations about Israel/Arab conflict. I always found them polite and calm.

Jewish people, of course I know many! My family, many of my friends; we're just like anyone else, but rather misunderstood! Even just on YA I read every day comments by people who have the most bizarre ideas about us! Not in this section, though - I find Muslims usually very informed about Judaism and Jewish history.

Nice question, have a star. Shalom :)

B - what 'personal attack'?????????????? Oh, sorry, forgot you have no sense of humour whatsoever! As for making it 'personal' only last week you posted an entire thread attacking one of my sources of info, so don't be such a hypocrite! Lighten up!

DIANA, THAT'S SO FUNNY, what you said to ABC - lol lol

I met both because I am working for an European Embassy.
We very often have meetings in Europe where I have a choice to speak to both of them. Also we all sit together and talk to each other without any problems. Not to long ago I posted a question about a Palestinian who was not allowed to travel back from a trip to Europe through Tel Aviv Airport because he has a Palestinian background. He told all of us this without any hate. He did not make the Jews sitting together with us responsible for his living circumstances.

I had to find out, that it did not seem to be to much of a problem for these guys talking to each other. The hassle they have to go through on daily base seemed to be "normal" to them and I found out that I got more shocked about these conversation than Israelis or Palestinians.

But - I also have to take into consideration that I never talked to a Jew who has lost family in the Holocaust, I never talked personaly to victims of suicide bombers, never to Islamic terrorists or to any Palestinian who lost someone in an Israeli attac. Then it might be different. I do not know.

Like in this section here you see so many hateful posts from people who never were involved in a war or are a victim. (beside ABC stating the treatment from Israelis). But I never talked to him personaly. I would like to hear someone coming up here with some personal experience. From both sides. But.........................Here we are mostly just generalizing and being Jews against Muslims and vs and surprisingly more Jews not living in Israel are jumping on certain subjects than the Israelis theirselves.

I also found out that it is possible for civilized people with manners to talk to each other without blaming personal each other. They know that it's the politics, religious extremists, the past etc. what give them a hard time and the circumstances they have to deal with.

Take care, enjoy the holidays coming up and thanks for asking. Good question.

Judaism is a religion.

Your question should Be who met a Israeli person and an Palestinian person. Because you are comparing a religion to a nationality.

Baghdad or whatever ur name is: I am Jewish so next time dont teach me what I am teach yourself manners

See the History relating to the origin of man kind.Keep apart the theory of evaluation. The other side is origin of man kind starts from Adam and Eve. At this point there is no dispute .Most of them may agree on this conception.
Old and new testament Bible describes about the various Messiahs and the history of Jews starts from the descendants of Jakob.Intelligent and hard working people and known as sons of GOD.
It has been noted that this Jews are still waiting for their Last prophet as promised to them from Divine.
The truth is that ever so many changes that happened to the religious belief of mankind in the course of time.
Christianity and Islam spread over in the world.Jews are still holding their identity with the hope of the last prophet.Perhaps this shall be one of the known reasons.
All Religious texts describe about the coming of Jesus and Mohamed (sa) as the last prophet.
To put it in a nut shell all are brothers and sisters of the common origin except the brand name of Hindu,Budha ,Jaina ,Sikh,Parsi,Christian and Muslim.
In my opinion ,human kind is now in the age of globalisation and in the form "ALL IN ONE " believing in GOD,created the whole UNIVERSE and who loved all his creations alike .There may be difference of opinion but every body will admit the fact that all human beings are from common origin.

I met a lot of Jews and Palestinians in real life. Palestinians, what can I say, they are our Arab brothers and sister and of course we got along extremely well. I can say I have met abt 3 or 4 ppl who I knew were Jewish. We were ok, I didn't really try to interact with them much. I once had a Jewish coworker and we were fine, but he said stuff from behind my back to my boss to get me in trouble...

Janice
I am Jewish and my family members are Jewish and I have some Jewish friends. I also met a couple of Palestinians in my life. One in New York and one where I live now. The two Palestinians I met were nice.

LadySuri
I have, quite a few. It was in a program called Hands of Peace where Jewish, Xian, and Muslim teens from Chicago, Israel, and the Palestinian territories got together to talk about the issues. Some of them were very sweet, and some were very abrasive, just like all people. However I found all of them except for one (who was an Arab Israeli) tried their hardest to play on the sympathies of the unknowing Americans, often ignoring all the issues and only coming back to how hard their lives were (even though they didn't live in Gaza, and only 1 lived in the West Bank.)

For the most part though, it was a good experience. Why?

(And I'm Jewish and I live in a Jewish community so yes I've met lots)

I guarantee 99.9% of people in anti-Semitic countries, like Indonesia and Pakistan have never even met a Jew.

Trout
I've met a number of Jews and a 1 or 2 Pal's that I never really knew knew

I am going to talk about the one Jew that blows the stero types out the window

I worked with him - he was a dog walker for a humane society - Poorly paid overworked and constantly in fecal matter of some sort - dog cat rabbit so forth

We were eating lunch and he had a pork sandwich - I said "hey I thought you were not allowed to eat that"
He shrugged and said "So I am a bad Jew" amd kept on eating

He was a extremely informal person dumb as a bag of hammers and one of the nicest people you'd ever meet

Invading Germans killed much of my Jewish family in Poland, during WWII, including my grandparents.

My mom was a war orphan, hidden by Christians, and smuggled out of Europe, to safety here in Canada.

All my living relatives, on mom's side of the family are conservative Jews, some here in Canada.

ABC you are full of it!!!! if your home was checked so many times and you were caught by the police then maybe you are a little terrorist

Hatikvah JPA
If you've ever had occasion to visit a physician, odds are that you've met a Jew.

Jew-by-choice
.

ABC
I am a Palestinian, so the second part of the question is not applicable to me!!!

Yes I met so many Israelis, they came to my house sooooo many times, but they are not good gusts because they are coming in the midnight, before knocking the door they will disconnect the electricity, then they will knock the door in their legs or by the gun, then they will take all the house members out side their home then they will take the youngest boy or girl inside with them to help them open the cabinets, then they will start searching …searching… searching….…. then they will leave after the dawn.

also I met soooo many Israelis in the checkpoints….

also I met them in deferant places,

and to be fair, when I was in the university, I was going in the weekends and holidays to work in west Jerusalem “illegal labor work” so I met a lot of them, I know so many Jews from kenedy, kryat menahem, en karem, ora, keryatovel, betar, efrat, but because my boss was a Jew “Yemeni jew”, I never face problems from the Israelis civilians, but I was caught several times by the Israelis meshtara.
And from my experience, Yemeni Jews are much better than any other Jews.
