I would say Rabin. He even decided to hand over East Jerusalem to Arafat. So I guess he would want peace.

But just too bad, "israel" had a great leader back then but full of terrorist jews whose one main aim is to kill this great leader. GREAT! They just did that.

Another great example of terrorist jews back stabbing their own kind. Just like they did to their own Prophet Moses when they turned their back towards God and worshipped that cow despite Prophet Moses success in delivering them to the so called "promised land" from the Pharoah.

...and did I miss another great leader... Prophet Jesus who was killed by the Jewish high priest Caiaphas, who presided over the prophet's trial and crucifixion (?)

It's this simple - when the jews have a great leader, they'll try their very best to whatever it takes to kill this great leader because in the first place they never intend to have peace.

If they have a weak leader, they tend to blame their neighbours' leaders for not working towards peace. Of course their famous line will be " 'israel' don't have a partner for peace" as an excuse.

Arafat of course, Rabin like the rest of the Israeli leadership are all terrorists and belonged to gangs. Arafat was a fighting for the freedom of his people and country. Rabin was not going to achieve the ever lasting peace everybody is looking for simply because the Israelis were never willing to giveup what was needed and Rabin was only able to start the first step but not the process.
Unfortunatly Israel is a terrorist and Illegal state and as long as their leadership remains closed to the gangs, there will be no peace and more of our brothers, sisters, mothers will die in the conflict with the Palestinians.

Rabin, he was closer to peace than Arafat ever was. Also, Arafat never wanted peace from the beginning, so Catch-22.

Yasir Arafat was a revolutionary, pure and simple, and he had NO diplomatic negotiating or political skills at all. He was a net disaster to the Palestinian cause in the end. Ariel Sharon, another terrorist, was far better as a politician. Even Rabin was much better than Arafat. One of the problems for the Palestinians is that they have produced no real outstanding leaders. It is one thing to be a revolutionary and bring down an existing order, but it is quite an other to build something up from the rubble of revolution. Arafat failed at this.

I support the Arab cause and am staunchly anti-Israeli, but you have to admit the shortfall in Arab politics.

First, I would advise to read carefully through racist and antisemitic responses (like Yohan's) which are full of the most common and banal unestablished propaganda.

When trying to compare the leader's, I also tend to agree Rabin was greater. Being older, more experienced, and ACTUALLY involved in a SUCCESSFUL process of lib rating a nation.
At the times prior to the establishment of the state of Israel (1948) Rabin was one of the leaders in the "Hagana" organization, out of the three in that days (Hagana, Etsel, Lechi) it was the moderate one and the biggest, which later was given the mission to establish I.D.F (Israeli Army).
As a leader of some kind of a "liberation Army", Rabin could understand and built up the legitimation for Ar fat and the P.L.O to be a partner for peace.
Unfortunately, Arafat, couldn't cross the line of being a terrorist leader, and though he got a Nobel Prize for peace (sharing with Rabin and Peres) kept using terror methods by not taking action against them, allowing them and actually ordering them.
By this time, Rabin was looking far into the future (with great help of Peres), trying to achieve a solution to the whole Israeli - Palestinian problem.
After the ascension of Rabin, Arafat was given few opportunities by different Israeli leaders to promote the peace process, but always found a reason to skip them, up to the point Sharon decided to take a one side step and withdraw all civilians and soldiers out of the Gaza strip.
In an overview of this issue, including the worldwide understanding of the Terror issue, especially since 9.11, it seems we (the Israelis) will keep offering gestures to the Palestine's and the Neighboring countries whom most aren't ashamed to say would prefer us off the map some way or the other.
Using Yohan's style: as we were here before Jesus and Muhammad, we will stay here long after.

Rabin because he was dedicated to peace. He set an example for many Israeli leaders to follow. Yasser Arafat will never be anything more than a terrorist.

i think arafat's best leadership quality was the way he stole millions of dollars from his people and used them for himself and his wife.......

Arafat was the WORST leader the Palestinians have EVER had.
Even when he had a chance of peace, and he was offered 90% of what he asked for, HE REFUSED! That just PROVES what a wicked and evil person he was, and only dedicated to killing murder and TOTAL corruption.
Arafat amassed a personal fortune of MILLIONS of dollers whilst he was in power. This was money given to the Palestinian people that Arafat sifted to his own personal bank accounts.
His widow has always lived the height of luxury in France, her future is assured, at least on this earth financially, due to her husbands total corruption.
However, when she meets her maker, the Living Lord Jesus, The Christ, her future will be assured in Hell unless she repents of her wickedness and hands back all her ill gotton gains to her people.
Not very likely is it!
Rabin however has worked hared for peace as do all the Israelis.
Peace is not something the Arabs want, they just love war and death!
