Who would you vote for? American Primaries......?

Although we are not Americans (thank God...LOLL!!!) we have to accept that what happens in America affects the rest of the world as Darth and I concluded in our recent economic debate, so given the current Primaries and the possibility of a revolutionary American President next year, who would you vote for if you could?
1. Hilary Clinton
I am not sure about her credentials, is she only there because of her, or despite, her husband?
2. Barack Obama
Is he a man of substance or is he relying on the "Jesse Jackson", "Martin Luther King" factor and nothing else?
3. McCain
Is he a wise man or would he represent a step back, the Old Guard...?

I am disappointed that Giuliani dropped out of the running as he would have had my vote based on the way he cleaned up New York and handled the whole 9/11 thing. Perhaps Giuliani should come to South Africa to advise the government.
I suppose my vote would go to Obama, he is young and charismatic and I think he has something "new" to bring to the table

i'm with bull - i was supporting huckabee, i liked the fact that he was willing to challenge the status quo in regards to taxes, etc. truth be told, i really like his "tax on consumption" idea.

he also impressed me when listening to the republican debate yesterday. i think a problem with politicians today is that they only think short term, as they try to impress in their term only and not the effect their term had. take the us recession at the moment. the other candidates want to give tax rebates which, i believe, leads to random spending that doesn't necessarily help your economy. whereas huckabee sees the opportunity to enrich the american economy, citizens and services by investing in their own country. for instance upgrading the infrastructure. any country needs a good foundation to build on, politicians just don't seem to want to bother with that... think big and dare to fail i guess.

but as bull said, he won't make it (stupid republican winner take all rules!)... pity. i REALLY don't like the other Republicans, but I'd probably have to go with McCain. I'd still have to read up on him a bit more - I didn't always agree with what he said at the debate, but i'd hope that his business skills come forward, as i believe that's the only thing that can save politics... it being run like a successfull business.

mccain's age is another concern though, as chuck norris said - voting for him is like voting the vice presdent into office! ;-) even though that probably won't happen, i think a 2nd term would be stretching it a bit far for mccain, and america needs the stability of one political plan and to stick with it untill it shows results... (can you hear me ms naledi pandor?!)

i actually started off as a democrat, but between Hillary's fake tears and Obama practically being Opera's endorsement (what happened to Opera never endorsing a candidate?) - i didn't want to be associated with the ridicule. What do they think we are? Idiots?

Though i think Obama will bring a bit of fresh air to Washington by having a different perspective, I don't know however, how well he will handle himself with his lack of experience. I mean seriously, imagine him in the international arena? I can't see him rubbing shoulders with the likes of Putin. Not to mention standing up against him.

Any way, just my thoughts... Anything will be better than Bush, right?

Unfortunately, it's irrelevant, the American central reserve controls the economy and therefore the senate.
American government buys currency from them which they print and charge interest on.
The American government made this deal with the Central Reserve way back I think in the 1910s or 20s. Thereby effectively giving theirs and the people's power away.
(The direction of a countries economy in a true democracy should be reflective of a vote.)

I'm not bashing the Americans here (well maybe I am) but I do feel it's important to know all the facts.
Most Americans are unfortunately oblivious to this (well most think their Capital is New York....).

Democrat, Republican...it's irrelevant, they're both more or less the same cake with different icings.

If I had to:
I would probably vote for Obama.
Hillary's political career was given a boost when she was promised this exact campaign if she stuck it out through her husbands sticky affairs (no pun intended). She's way too transparent to me.
McCain, sorry, I think he has been more of a side show compared to the other two, not really being prepared to stick his neck out too much in serious debates.

I was hoping for Mike Huckabee to come through the process as the Republican candidate but thats not going to happen so I'll go for McCain.

None of them!
They are all either lawyers or preachers. Neither can be trusted.
Lawyers because they are professional liars.
Preachers because their world view is by definition devoid of rationality.

Definately Obama. I think America should be ready for a little Transformation.

If I were to choose a Republican, it would deffinately be McCain. I don't really like or dis-like him, but he is better than what's left. I absolutely can't stand Mitt Romney. Who names their kid after a type of hand-wear?

As far as Clinton and Obama.......first woman president or first black? Nobody should be voted for just because they will be the first of something. Also, nobody should vote for someone because of their gender, race, religion or even their sexual orientation. They should vote for them because of what they have to offer and what they stand for. I really don't like Hillary. She sounds so fake. I think she is just acting as a puppet for Bill, just as GWB is being the puppet for his Dad and his friends. Barack Obama amazes me every time I see him on TV and hear him speak. He never says anything wrong and has that aura of confidence that is so important in a leader. In his speach after winning South Carolina, he mentioned two things that really got my attention. The first was that we have to get rid of bi-partisan politics. That even if you are a Democrat, it is possible that a Republican could have a good idea. The second was to remove the lobbyists from Washington. Instead of running the government to help big-business and the rich, the gov't would serve the people. Things like health-care for the poor and such. I have become disallusioned with the concept of democracy. I want to see what Obama could do if he was given the chance. But he is young. If he was to become president, then he would only have 8 years at most. maybe he should sit back for now and eventually be president in another 8 or 12 years.

In the end I think this is going to be the contest.. Clinton as Pres/Obama as VP vs McCain as Pres/Huckabee as VP, why?? cause the Dems need to do something bold and new cause they dont have any fresh ideals ..clinton had the whitehouse, both houses of congress and we never got the medical Insuance and you can bet the repub will bring that up, the first woman pres and first blackman as VP, the Repubs need the conservs and evangil to win, now all that said I'm voting for McCain for is stand on Israel and the military, both McCain and huck men have a proven record of working with the other side also which will help move things in the country, and cinton and obama dont, they have played party lines to much, the dems sadly will still be about party thinking period, both of them are very lib where the 2 repubs are more middle of the road, and one thing that is going to be huge in the vote is if in fact bush's plan in Iraq does win as it looks to be, cause then the dems will have alot of egg to scrape off, not to mention right now there is alot of anger towards the dem for taking Fla and Mich delegates away and that has made alot of dems go repub ... guess we'll just have to wait and see..........

Nomimi
I think Hillary is more liked than admired by people. His man had very positive results when he was President, I supposed people credit her for that. I dont think she is a good candidate though. She is too emotional.

I would vote for Obama because he seem to be far from any of the WHITE HOUSE DYNASTIES. his arguments makes sense about social health security, school fees support, and end of war in Irak. He needs a chance to prove that.

Snorkie
well I think it is quite a contraversial decision for the first time in the history of America either a woman or a man of colour will be the president. I think the Americans are very raccistic all though they will not admit it and rather point fingers at us....... so Hillary will propably win. But anybody will be better than that lunatic, murderous, demented George Bush.....................

Definitely democrat and definitely Obama, for the same reasons you mentioned. I think he will bring the change he has been promising.

Although Clinton shouldn't be written off. She is not riding on Bill's coattails she is probably the best candidate on paper, which is why the NY times have endorsed her. Her health care plan is by far the best.

ADD: Jesse Jackson is a lunatic who Obama has tried to keep at a distance.

i would vote for hillary clinton. there is no competition here. she is not here just because of her husband. she is an intelligent, seasoned politican in her own right.

obama? i didn't know that jesse jackson was a supporter. i wouldn't take it for granted that US black voters will support him. many or even most support clinton. i think obama is naive and way too inexperienced to be President. he struggled at the debates.

mccain? do you know that he graduated at the bottom of his naval academy class? his dad was an admiral and bailed him out. this guy is too old and we need someone with a bit more life and ideas, like clinton.

giuliani? oh, please. he never had a chance. he is a republican who is on his 4th wife and supports abortion?! he wouldn't have won, couldn't have won. and his day is over. he had 911, now he is too old and needs to pack it in.

the ferrari man
Never mind the US I dont even understand SA Politics, however I think H Clinton will have a peaceful affect on the globe.
