You asked a question that I have been asking myself for ages! It really drives me crazy, especially when it comes from a person driving a really expensive car. I think to myself "Fadda ilmi3addawi"! If you don't know what I'm talking about, she was a really vulgar but filthy rich woman in an Egyptian drama series. It pains me to see this happening, and I scream inwardly (haven't got your courage Butterfly!) YOU FILTHY IDIOT!

I do believe in starting with myself first, so I definitely don't commit this horrendous crime. There is always a small bag in the car for trash that is disposed of when full. If I'm walking I simply hold on to whatever trash I have till I find a waste basket. My hand bag is always a real mess, full of all kinds of trash waiting to be thrown away! I also taught my daughter not to EVER do that under any circumstances. She is confused when she sees trash in the street and constantly asks me why people threw their trash in the street if it was a bad thing to do. She is a good girl :) I always find her used tissues in the pockets of her school uniform because she doesn't throw them on the play ground. I'm really proud of her :)

I'll tell you a story that really happened to me. I was at the place where I work, standing in the hallway. A guy came and stood next to me, lit a cigarette, and then threw the empty carton on the floor despite the fact that he was standing right next to the waste basket. As if it wasn't bad enough that he was smoking! I thought I'd embarrass him and teach him a lesson, so I looked him in the eye, bent down and picked up his trash and put it where it belongs. He simply stared me in the eye without flinching, puffed his smoke in my face, threw the remains of the cigarette on the floor and walked away. I was pulling my hair out and my blood pressure must have hit the roof. But I had the last laugh. As I went into the room where I was supposed to give my lecture, the jerk turned out to be one of my students! It was the first lecture and he had no idea who I was when he behaved so rudely minutes before! It was sooo great to see the look on his face! Suffice it to say that I didn't see him again for the rest of the year!!! Like Shalfat said, "ahlohom marabohomsh!"

P.S
Hasafer, I gave you a thumbs up!

the people who do this have no manners

Edit : see that's why I delet my answers , I thumbed every one up and no one thumbed me [ up ]

Allow me to rephrase your question:

"why some Egyptians through garbage in the street?"

because they are either not educated, don't care or not well bahaved or in Arabic "Ahaleehom marabohomsh"

It's not just Egyptians, Filipinos do that a lot too, as well as Canadians. The only difference is in Egypt and Philippines, our government do not have enough financial resources to look after the streets and roads unlike here in Canada where they have allocated funds to maintain the city clean. Garbage cans are in every corner, so there is no reason for someone to dump garbage anywhere. Every morning you see well-paid street cleaners driving trucks that clean side-walks. Unfortunately for us, we were born in countries that do not have what these wealthy nations have.

Far Away ( Still Lost)
becuase (who does so) doesn't keep a plastic bag in the car to put his garbage in
actually I used to do this long time ago but then I started Keeping small plastic bags in the car to put garbage in it & when it gets full I just tie it & throw in one of the big garbage cans every where.
I admit I used to do it but now i am a clean person

MuslimRose~Amira
it is reay bad , i hate that type of ppl , they keep their cars clean by throwing in the street!
but i don't do this and so many don't !

mm71
maybe they think that the world is just a one big garbage bin!

NOOO manners

.
i shall also say it.......it's "throw" not "through" :D

then, people really nowadays are ill mannered, they don't respect the country they are living in nor do either they respect themselves.......these people are really ugly.

to Hasafer : see man, i gave you thumb [up], lol

pure heart
it depends on the person..if u r a clean person u won't do it whatever what ...but if u aren't and nothing will happen to u if u through garbage .u will do it.
some says if there is no law prevent me from doing that ,why don't i do this or that?
so some depends on the person and some depends on the country laws. if everyone will pay for each paper he through no one will through anything i can tell for sure :)

Wise Heart
I like the answer of butterfly. This is the way we should start. First be sure you don't do the wrong action, then your friends and relatives, then a wider circle of people. We should act always and let those who doesn't respect the street to regret it.
Kassandra also mentioned a remarkable fact, we can't forget it needs a lot of money either to clean or to control the streets and we don't have enough for both.

I don't , Also my family , but some Egyptians do that , its a bad habit , but also bcoz people didn't feel that this street full of garbage is belong to them also , not only the Government.

But i saw this bad habit in Paris and many European cities , but just few of them.

I hope we can finish this quickly as we can.

I love Egypt.

I wish you all the best :)

When I was there, almost every Egyptian I met threw garbage on the street. Some even threw trash out their home windows!!! I was completely shocked to see things like that. When walking with some of the Egyptians that I met, I got very angry at them and almost yelled at them for throwing garbage on the ground, only a few meters from a trash bin! They were quite amused by my anger (they are all men, being yelled at by a western girl on the street) and laughed it off, but did pick up the garbage they had thrown down and put it in the bin. After that, they made a joke of passing any garbage to the end of the line, for the next person to throw it out. They had never really thought about it before.
It is a shame that the entire country is like a dump. In villages, children were playing with pieces of garbage from the roads. So sad.
I suppose if you grow up seeing something and doing something, you just don't think about it. They say that someone else will clean it up. It is someone's job. They need to be taught/told/shown that it is up to everyone to keep the country clean.

gigi .
first only few of them not all of them
and this is happening all over the world

there are ppl who behave well and there are ppl who dont behave well

this is the world and the nature of the human

I'm Blind not Deaf
It is not about the Egyptians or any nationality.
It depends on the psychology of the person, like if there is a law in Egypt that will penalty anyone who will do this, you will never see it again, same as in other countries who has this law, if it wasn't there, you will find it widespread.
The problem is not mostly from the people, it is from the government, a simple law would make all people forced to become helpfull. Inspite of that, some decent people who deserve the best never throw anything in the street and when they see it they feel hurt and annoyed, lets all just dream of a better society for our country.

alyamed
u mean throw .

ST
Because they hate Egypt and dream to move to a western country.
