People are leaving the country for many reasons, the most popular being, high crime and corruption within the police services (concerned about their personal and family safety), Affirmative Action ( white males are discriminated against when applying for employment), unemployment is high in SA (above 25%) and corruption, bribery and nepotism within government.
In addition, Jacob Zuma, who in all probability will be the next President , after the April elections, is facing a number of charges for corruption and bribery, amongst others, and many do not have any confidence in his ability to address the current problems facing South Africa and or to lead the country forward.
Others have left simply because they have received better job prospects overseas, but they are in the minority. |

I know many whites who have moved out of S. Africa. The common reason is because of the violence commited by the black Africans on white people. I'm not being racist, it's just a fact.
Africa is a cruel continent. |

We left because of the violence. We would be seriously injured or dead if we had stayed. However, do enjoy moving. If you move to Capetown it IS a lovely place, just be careful. |

Mostly because of dump politicians, always spewing hate Speech, and the crime of cause, but south africa is starting to change now that the old president was removed, he was an arrogant angry man who hated white people. |

legalised apartheid, just have a look at the job adverts online or in local papers 90% have the "equal opportunity" clause after 15 years the government still feels it is necessary to enforce racial descrimination and that is why south africans are leaving or at least this south african. |

Read Jeffrey M's answer and you will get an idea why people are leaving. |

I left Cape Town because of the increasing violence and lack of any police help - when I went in to report my fifth mugging, in which I was quite badly hurt, the police sargeant laughed and said that as I was alive I should not complain. He then gave me a Police case number so that I could claim on insurance and told me not to bother them again as they had "lots to do" !!!! Oh, when I lay bleeding in the street some African women laughed and said that what was "White mamas deserve" and walked on by. There is very little job opportunity for young white people now, as "Affirmative Action" or "Equal opportunity" policies ensure that, regardless of qualifications or experience, the local black people get the jobs. Insurance premiums for your home and contents are sky high. The climate is great, Cape Town is a wonderful place, but you cannot live on pretty views. |

Most people leave because of the high crime rate and because the ANC (government in power) are useless and uneducated and are really starting to turn our beautiful country into a new Zimbabwe. |

Globally people are on the move. Who knows? Adventure, work, play, love etc... the answers are endless. We moved from Cape Town to Berlin in Germany because my husband needed work experience in his field and an opportunity opened up for us. We did not move for any other reason, as we like it in Cape Town. |

africa is definately not a cruel continent.what people nned to understand is that black southafricans unlike african americans are celebrating new independence, the country hasnt bin liberated that long.think about it, aparthied(segregation), just ended in 1993, so before that all the blacks were being oppressed. m sure u dnt jst expect them to suck it up n forget all about it. they still hve fresh wounds that they are coping with.. when uv bin oppressed for soo long, even when it ends ur still paranoid. the white people living in south africa are not angels either, they still judge and mistreat the black people.
anyway, i would like to suggest that alot of people move to seek better opportunities, its not just n south africa bt in a lot of african countries as well. |
