I was always sceptical about this "God's chosen" silly expression.
Might that be a smoke screen to blind us from the true nature of these people?
Anyone reading the comments of our jewish friends here, that are suggesting us to "nuke the Palestinians" or "carpet Bomb" Palestine gets the same feeling as the one I usually get when I log in this section of Yahoo Answers.
And anyway its something that must make us all wonder how such a small racial number of people have so many simililar incidents happening so often.

No, we should not look "elsewhere" when it comes to religion, rather we should ensure that these criminals are prosecuted to the fullest, regardless of religion.

Making the statement implying that people should 'change religious beliefs' shows your ignorance on the subject.

Pedophiles can be found at EVERY social and economic level and can be established members of the community ANYWHERE.

The psychology behind this categorizes a few groups of mentality types. One of them being someone who KNOWS that pedophilia is wrong thus goes to extremes in order to hide their issue. This would include trying to actively involve themselves in a community in any way possible.

The common factors with all pedophiles are as follows:

- Often having failed marriages because of intentions.
- The wife may know but keeps quiet to avoid social stigma.
- A fascination or unusual interest in children.
- Frequent references to children in exalted terms.
- Hobbies commonly belonging in the realm of a child's.
- Home is decorated in a child's theme.
- Home theme will reflect the age bracket of preferred victims
- Over 30 years of age, single and few or no friends their age
- Frequent unexplained changes of residence/jobs.

This is the common factor with religion (all of them): A strong emphasis on family values.

Because of the wide age disparity between them and victims, pedophiles cannot just hang around children. Thus they have to find a way to legitimize contact with kids.

This usually implies obtaining employment in a field where children are seen on a daily basis.

- School teaching
- Bus drivers
- Camp counselors
- Clergy members
- Photographers
- Sports coaching

They will always volunteer for activities in which they are left alone with children with no parental supervision (Lanning, p. 19).

- Pedophiles are adept to locating troubled children.
- Pedophiles will give gifts to the target
- Pedophiles will take targets to places that interest children
- If the target is troubled the pedophile will comfort them

Please do some some research before making such claims. This is a problem that affects every community and religion in the world.

Every religion and denomination has seen these cases over the years. It was not brought to public attention until the 1970's.

I had no idea that the abuse was so widespread. Let's just say half of the allegations are false, it is still a monument to hypocrisy. It is not for us to judge our religion as corrupt in regards to these negative examples. Our personal relationship with G-d is all that matters. How can these hypocrites even live with themselves is beyond my understanding. Not only would it be disgusting even if they were secular molesters, but to represent our religion and hence further the cause of anti-semitism is an abomination not only by the laws of the Torah, but to my own personal values. They should all be castrated and have their future children saved from an intolerable fate.

While pedophiles may adhere to various religions, it isn't an aspect of any Judeo-Christian/Islamic beliefs or any popular religion that I know of.

They are troubled people who are very skilled in hiding what their motives are. They'd use anything for cover that gives them proximity to children. Religion, amusement parks, Chuck E Cheese, teaching, parenting, coaching.... Whatever works.

You want to change it? Advocate for children.

I do not think it makes the Religion corrupt. There are people in this world period, this happened to the Catholic Church and many allegations are false and of course many are true too.

This did not change Christianity so I do not see it with Judaism or any other faith. Humans do bad things some times and just because they wear Religious clothing does not mean they truly represent that faith if they are doing such things.

That is why I say its not Religions fault, but each user who is truly guilty of its fault. Go after the person not the faith.

I agree Child Molesters are horrible but how is this only a Rabbi problem and how does this have anything to do with Religion because no faith teaches such horrible acts or condones it. A few bad apples does not make a whole faith wrong or bad and I am not even Jewish and believe that it does not change their faith one bit. TDs do not bother me if one cannot handle an objective opinion. I do not condone child molestation but I will not condone it is Judaisms fault either.

I am a Secular Jew and also hate and do not condone child abuse of any kind. I agree it is not the fault of the faith but individuals only and they should be persecuted by law and not the faith if that were the case then the Catholic Church should close its doors too but it should not for what a few did.

Every religion will always have it, you can't stop this phenomenon. It's fortunate that America and Israel are secular socieites so we can punish people for this. Try punishing somebody for this in Afghanistan.........

Compare the numbers of Christian ministers and priests accused of molestation over the years and accusations of domestic abuse and murder among elders in Islam = what religion do you think Jews should look into where everyone is pure and perfect?

Why would you demand that they break their covenant with G-d?

I too think child molesters should be locked up and the key thrown away.
However, I have to say this has nothing to do with Judaism or any religion as such. It happens in secular entities too. Anybody who doesn't have respect for an innocent child, is not going to respect the sanctity of a school, church, synagogue, or family.
Since children absolutely need the care of adults, abusing a child is one of the worst betrayals imaginable.
