Why are so many jews hostile towards Messianic jews?

Why are so many jews hostile towards Messianic jews? Why don't the jews accept Jesus as the Messiah?

We are only hostile towards people who pretend to be Jewish but are really Christian. There is no such thing as messianic Jews; it is as ridiculous as being a Buddhist Muslim!
Christians identify Messiah with Jesus and define him as God incarnated as a man, and believe he died for the sins of humanity as a blood sacrifice. This means that one has to accept the idea that one person's death can atone for another person's sins. However, this is opposed to what the Bible says in Deuteronomy 24:26, "Every man shall be put to death for his own sin," which is also expressed in Exodus 32:30-35, and Ezekiel 18. The Christian idea of the messiah also assumes that God wants, and will accept, a human sacrifice. After all, it was either Jesus-the-god who died on the cross, or Jesus-the-human. Jews believe that God cannot die, and so all that Christians are left with in the death of Jesus on the cross, is a human sacrifice. However, in Deuteronomy 12:30-31, God calls human sacrifice an abomination, and something He hates: "for every abomination to the Eternal, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods." All human beings are sons or daughters, and any sacrifice to God of any human being would be something that God would hate. The Christian idea of the messiah consists of ideas that are UnBiblical.
So how have we Jews, who invented the term, always defined the term Messiah?

1. The Messiah is born of two human parents, as we said. But Jesus, according to Christian theology, was born of a union between a Human woman and God, rather than two HUMAN parents, as was Hercules, and Dionysis, as well as many other pagan gods.
2. The Messiah can trace his lineage through his human biological father, back to King David (Isaiah 11:1,10; Jeremiah 23:5; Ezekiel 34:23-24; 37:21-28; Jeremiah 30:7-10; 33:14-16; and Hosea 3:4-5). But Jesus's lineage cannot go through his human father, according to Christian theology, as Jesus's father was not Joseph the husband of Mary. According to Christian theology, Jesus's father was God.
3. The Messiah traces his lineage only through King Solomon (II Samuel 7:12-17; I Chronicles 22:9-10). But according to Luke 3:31, Jesus was a descendant of Nathan, another son of King David, and not a descendant of King David through King Solomon.
4. The Messiah cannot trace his lineage through Jehoiakim, Jeconiah, or Shealtiel, because this royal line was cursed (I Chronicles 3:15-17; Jeremiah 22:18,30). But according to both Matthew 1:11-12 and Luke 3:27, Jesus was a descendant of Shealtiel.

According to the Jewish definition of the term, the Real Messiah will make changes in the real world, changes that one can see and perceive and be able to prove because these changes take place in the real world. It is for this task that the real messiah has been anointed in the first place, hence the term, messiah -- one who is anointed. These changes, that one will be able to see and perceive in the real world, include:

1. The Messiah is preceded by Elijah the prophet who, with the Messiah, unifies the family (Malachi 4:5-6), which is contradicted by Jesus in Matthew 10:34-37.
2. The Messiah re-establishes the Davidic dynasty through the messiah's own children (Daniel 7:13-14). But Jesus had no children.
3. The Messiah brings an eternal peace between all nations, between all peoples, and between all people (Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-4; Ezekiel 39:9). Obviously there is no peace. Furthermore, Jesus said that his purpose in coming was to bring a sword, and not peace (see Matthew 10:34, as referenced above.)
4. The Messiah brings about the universal world-wide conversion of all peoples to Judaism, or at least to Ethical Monotheism (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Zechariah 8:23; Isaiah 11:9; Zechariah 14:9,16). But the world remains steeped in idolatry.
5. The Messiah brings about an end to all forms of idolatry (Zechariah 13:2). But the world remains steeped in idolatry.
6. The Messiah brings about a universal recognition that the Jewish idea of God is God (Isaiah 11:9). But the world remains steeped in idolatry.
7. The Messiah leads the world to become vegetarian (Isaiah 11:6-9). It isn't.
8. The Messiah gathers to Israel, all of the twelve tribes (Ezekiel 36:24). Many of the ten lost tribes remain lost.
9. The Messiah rebuilds The Temple (Isaiah 2:2; Ezekiel 37:26-28). It hasn't been rebuilt.
10. There will be no more famine (Ezekiel 36:29-30). People starve to death every day.
11. After the Messiah comes, death will eventually cease (Isaiah 25:8). People die every day.
12. Eventually the dead will be resurrected (Isaiah 26:19; Daniel 12:2; Ezekiel 37:12-13; Isaiah 43:5-6);
13. The nations of the earth will help the Jews, materially (Isaiah 60:5-6; 60:10-12;
14. The Jews will be sought out for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23);
15. All weapons will be destroyed (Ezekiel 3

Hostile toward Messianic *Jews*? Their methods of conversion amount to the 21st century's *final solution* to annihilate the Jewish people.

Why don't we accept Jesus as the Messiah? You'll find many Jewish answers here:

I'm going to answer your second question first. Jews don't believe in Jesus as the Messiah because the Messiah is supposed to bring world peace, along with fulfilling other prophecies. Is there world peace? Obviously not. Ergo, the Messiah hasn't yet arrived.

Now "Messianic Jews' are not Jews at all. Even for those who were originally Jews, once a Jew accepts another religion which blasphemes God (Jews believe that God would never accept a human form, nor 'give birth' to a son), he becomes an apostate to Judaism and is excluded from the Jewish community. So there are no real Jews who accept Jesus as the Messiah.

The purpose of the Messianic Jewish movement (especially such cults as "Jews for Jesus") is to spread the gospel to the Jews and to attempt to convert them to Christianity. I think you'll notice that people in general can't stand Christians who try to convert them, and "shove their beliefs down others' throats" (a phrase I've seen many times here on Y!A). What makes them particularly dangerous is the fact that they incorporate Jesus into OUR Jewish beliefs, and feed people a version of Christianity when they think they're getting Judaism. Most adults are not afraid of them, but they definitely are not too fond of them. It's children and Jews who do not have a Jewish education, or people who are poor, lonely, or depressed, who get drawn in by the show of caring. This causes them to be separated from the Jewish community without even realizing it, depriving them of the real warmth and caring they should be getting.

Their purpose is to spiritually destroy the Jewish people, just as Hitler and the Crusaders and the Babylonians and countless others tried to do. Would you blame Jews for being hostile to Nazis?

Who Are The Messianics?

They are Evangelical Xians. The Messianic Cult was founded by Xian Missionaries. It is funded by Evangelical Churches.

Members are *Literally* not Jewish: not via birth, not via conversion, not via theology.

What Do They Do?

Pose as 'messianic jews' and state they have the right to REdefine Judaism to now INclude worshipping Jesus.

*Why* do Messianics Lie And Claim To Be Jews?

The Messianic Cult began some 40 years ago. Frustrated at the low level of Jewish conversion to Xianity, Evangelical Xians sought a way to make Xianity more appealing to Jews.

Evangelicals tried to make their religion feel less "Christian". The crucifix, long associated with persecution and oppression, was removed, as was " Jesus Christ", and the pastor, altar, Sunday morning mass and all of the terms and rituals associated with the Church.

Instead, Messianics refer to "Yeshua HaMoshiach",(Jesus) 'rabbis', (Xian ministers), and Saturday morning services. Dressing up their Church as 'temples', with Jewish symbols, the Messianic movement sets out to 'teach' Jews about 'yeshua' (Jesus).

The result of this is: Xianity that keeps the fundamental theology that sets it apart from Judaism, but that claims to be 'jewish'.

Messianics still believe in a virgin birth - which they celebrate on the Jewish festival of Shavuot. The same goes for Easter; Messianics still believe that a demigod died for their sins, and commemorate this event during the Jewish Passover.
All Messianics worship Jesus; all Messianics condemn to 'hell' non Xians, including Jews.

The theology of the Messianic Cult is **identical** to the theology of Baptists and Evangelical Christians.

All Messianic groups, while claiming to be authentically 'Jewish', are hostile to authentic Jewish theology. Simply wrapping a cross in a tallis does not make it Jewish.
ALL Messianic groups are purely Christian groups, masquerading around with Jewish objects.

What Do Messianic Leaders Say?

In the US, several journalists obtained a confidential briefing written by the founder of the largest Messianic group, 'jews' For Jesus:

In the document ‘What Evangelical Christians should know about Messianic “jews” , Martin Meyer reveals:

‘We are an arm of the local **Church**. We are Evangelists. We are accountable to the Church. As we win and ***convert*** Jewish people, we urge them to take their place in a local Evangelical **Church**, or establish a congregation. Our duty is to aid the **Church** at large and to gather in the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel.’

- from ‘Holy Terror’ by Conway and Seigelman

What Do Jewish And Xian Leaders Say?

Every Jewish leader, in every country, has publicly asked the Messianics to stop lying and claiming to be 'jewish' and to stop misrepresenting Judaism.

Xian, Jewish and Muslim leaders have united in condemning the Messianics:
At the 1997 Washington D.C. Interfaith Conference, Protestant, Roman-Catholic, Muslim and Jewish leaders ***all***
issued an official statement (published in "Interfaith Connector" Vol. 8, No. 2) stating:

“We condemn proselytizing efforts which involve deception. Such practices are common among Christian groups calling themselves 'Hebrew Christianity', ***'Messianic judaism'***, or 'jews for Jesus'.
"These groups specifically target Jews for conversion to Christianity, claiming that in accepting Jesus as the savior/messiah, a Jews 'fulfills' his/her faith.'

"By celebrating Jewish festivals, worshipping on the Jewish Shabbat, appropriating Jewish symbols, rituals and prayers in their Churches, and, sometimes, even calling their leaders 'Rabbi', they seek to win over, often by deception, many Jews.

"They target vulnerable groups - residents of hospitals and old aged homes, confused youth, college students away from home. These deceitful techniques are tantamount to coerced conversions and should be condemned."

What Do Jews say?

We are very, very upset and troubled by the way that Messianic Xians have assumed the 'right' to totally REdefine the Jewish faith. Even as they preach and practise things that *violate* Judaism.
Especially upsetting to us is the way that some Messianics accuse us of 'hating' them when we understandably counter their lies, by speaking up and clarifying the *genuine* Jewish beliefs.

Crystal,

Try this group: "Christians for Lucifer the Morning Star", aka "Luciferian Christians". Or, even "Satanic Muslims".

You don't accept Lucifer the Morning Star as the true meaning behind Jesus? Islamic Satanism? Why not?

As much as you like your New Religion/s, both of which have a long history of forcing their views on other people at the point of swords and guns, you cannot replace ours with whichever one you decide. It's a wee bit of a control/boundary issue you seem to have.

I see on your profile you address Jews as "haters". So, don't You worry about Jewish feelings of hostility, just focus on Your control and boundary issues. Perhaps a good therapist.....

simple........

he did not fulfill the prophecies as said by the TORAH.

1- to bring peace on earth
2- build the third temple (a physical structure)
3- bring all jews back to back to Israel
4- spread the word of G-D of Israel

We are not hostile toward them it just that 99% of the time messianic jews never read the torah.

Never mentions second coming anywhere. IN fact never mentions messiah will have human flesh.

I wonder whether Christians feel hostile towards your self-description as a part-time Christian? [From your profile: Agnostic (part-time Christian) (interested and very respectful of Islam)
Feel free to email me. I don't bite.

I like to have a little fun sometimes. People with no sense of humor, back off. ]

I object to people following a religion that clearly is not Judaism calling their religion - "Messianic Judaism". If they have a Jewish heritage, they're welcome to say so, but that's got nothing to do with their religion. They believe in Jesus. I thought that was called Christianity, although some of them seem to feel Christianity is a corruption of what Jesus taught. In that case, they may need another name for their religion but by no stretch of the imagination is that religion they follow JUDAISM.

As for why we don't accept Jesus as the Messiah - Christians don't accept Krishna, Muslims don't accept Zeus. If you need more, search for the dozens of versions of this question asked every week. We've replied often enough now.

samsproudmommy
bc he didnt fullfill the requirments st forth by the torah to be the messiah.
and jews are hostile toward messianic jews bc they try to convert us

The angels have the Arc Light.
It might help if you let go of your assumptions about our emotions. You call us haters (on your profile) and hostile. I wonder if you're willing to set those negative views aside long enough to truly listen to us.

'Messianics' operate under a false presumption of what Judaism is. They cling to the idea of a Jewish race or ethnicity. What they refuse to accept is the fact that this idea arose in the 19th century as a way of considering anyone Jewish or born to Jews to be racially inferior. We know were that led.

Many 'Messianics' have rejected what they see as the 'pagan' practices of Christianity and have replaced them with their interpretation of Jewish practices. In their minds, because they're doing something different from mainstream Christianity, they must be Jewish.

For something reason, they assume that they're entitled to violate the central-most core tenants of Judaism and call themselves Jewish. A very few of them grew up as Jews, and assume that anything they subsequently do is therefore necessarily Jewish.

Most don't even have that connection. They've set aside some of the superficial trappings of Christianity and adopted superficial trappings of Jewish practice.

Their theology is Christian, yet they doggedly insist on misrepresenting themselves as Jewish.

They are entitled to their beliefs. But they are not entitled to redefine our religion because they like our rituals.

Same reason why fanatical muslims are hostile towards infidels and jews?

dandyl
Its not that many jews are hostile to them, its a very small segment of the the small radical religious communities, both Muslim(yes even they) and Jewish in Israel.Who are trying to create dehuminaztion. Those who are guilty are arrested .

They see themselves as a bridge between the Jewish and Christian worlds and harassment comes from this because it threatens the worldview of extremist religious bodies that want to uniquely define who is a Jew.
Both Jewish and Muslim people dont believe in Jesus , or that he was the messiah, no one can change that, everyone has they own belief. It is wrong though to inforce violence in those they do, everyone must respect each other.

There aren't any yet. They are claiming something that isn't real.
If they are Christians they aren't Jews by definition.
There will be . In time. Not yet There will still be Jews though and it is not for us to say they are wrong for keeping there religion. Nor is there a command to convert the Jew. If they do that's great but it isn't necessary. God still loves his chosen.
Christ himself said they would be judged by the law.
There are three judgments you know. Are do you. Have you ever read your bible and retained any of it?

toda1
Some Jews are suspicious of the motives of Christians and with due cause I might add.
They see attempts at converting Jews are another way of destroying Jewish identity.

However, nothing could be further from the truth. Messianic Jews do not stop being Jewish because they have accepted Yeshua as their long awaited messiah. It is in fact the completeness of their faith.

True Christians understand their faith is rooted in Judaism and as such they love and support Israel and her people.

HopelessZ00
Many are afraid of being converted, but if one has faith in who they are and sure about who they are they can't be converted. I don't know why the insecurity. Cheers!
