Because they know that the Torah forbids the restoration of a Jewish state until the Messiah comes. The truth is in the Torah, one only needs to read it to understand why there will never be peace as long as the state of Israel shakes its fist in Gods face. Should Jews be allowed to live in peace, throughout the world, of course. Should Zionists be allowed to usurp what is not theirs by force while disobeying God and the requirements he has laid down for them, no. |

The answer is that there are a few Jews--a very few--who believe that the state of Israel should not be established until the messiah comes. |

Many of the Jews against Zionism such as those in Mea Shearim, are against the formation of the state of Israel because they believe that only the Messiah can rebuild the country and the Temple and therefore, until he comes there should be no state.
The Jews who took place in the recent holocaust "convention" in Iran ranked among these anti-Zionist Jews. Sadly these same people live under the very protection of the state they are against. Their logic makes no sense to me. |

I am not against the state of Israel. I am just against those zionists who do nothing but humilating others. Many Israelis are good though.
God bless us and bless the people of the book. |

A very small minority of Jews believe that Israel should not be established until the messiah comes.
It's usually the ultra, ultra religious that feel this way.
EDIT SURYADI: Sorry but you are wrong: zionism is not a 'new' phenomenon. Jews have always dreamed of and spoken of returning to Eretz Yisroel. Hence the age-old 'Next Year In Jerusalem' that Jews say at many celebrations and religious festivals. |

As a friend has mentioned, the former is a monotheist faith, and most respectable, while the latter is a politically motivated school of thought, similar to what Wahabism, or Talibanism are in Islam.
They are not comparable with one another therefore, but the crimes committed by Zionists are mistakenly blamed on Jews, as those committed by Taliban were blamed on world Muslims, most unfortunately. |

I don't think you all got the problem right!
The chareidey Jews (ultra religious) don't except the Jewish state NOT because the Mashiach didn't come yet BUT because the Jewish state must be the TORA state. But unfortunately nowadays it's not like this. That's why they don't go to Israel to live there because it's the same as to live in galut (out of Israel).
And also there are more NOT religious Jews who are not Zionists because they think that Tora is not actual now. And the Jews can be the same as the other nations. In another words they assimilate and that's why they just don't need a Jewish state because it's more comfortable to live for example in the US. |

Cos Zionism is a relatively new phonemena, is political and not religious. Zionism to Judaism is what Wahhabism is to Islam. |

For the same reason that some Catholics hate their mothers, and some Armenians hate their sisters.
In the particular case you cite, an infinitesimally small group within the Jewish community rejects Zionism and thus are opposed to the Israel.because it is a secular state. Some of them live in Israel.
The Neturei Qarta group, which numbers under 20 Orthodox Jews, does indeed object to the State of Israel. The other 99.999999999 percent of Jews throughout the world support Israel as the Jewish homeland--the only Jewish state in the whole wide world.
The Jewish community considers these supporters of Islamic terror as the lunatic fringe.

Most Jews are not Zionist and some Jews blame the anti-Semitic phenomena of the 18 and 19 century on Zionist movement. They say the holocaust was a German reaction to the Zionist movement which called for German Jewish immigration to Palestine and take their wealth and money to Palestine. The world new anti-Semitic phenomena was caused by the displacement of the Palestinian people by Zionist movement. Israel is seen by many people around the world as the last colonial power in the world. Its hard for most Jews to support Israeli occupation polices. There are many Israelis who question the end game of Zionism. Peace is the missing link in the Zionist state.
No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind. |

Because there are just some Jews who are self-haters - is a sad thing - but what can you do? I pray for those poor fools who think they are Jews yet hate what it means to be a Jew which includes the Jewish dream of a Jewish state in the land of Yisrael. They are sad people.
Good Luck!!!
I don't know if I will get best answer or not - but there are a few things that need to be countered here:
First off when a studies are done on Jews around the world (however primarily in the United States) the lowest percentage of Jews who identified themselves as Zionist was back in the 1980's a put the number of 82% of all American Jews with 14% feeling neutral to positive on the issue - slightly over 3% (the other figures if I remember were slighly higher that the flat number) said they did not support the secular establishment of a State of Israel (mostly because the Messiah they believe should do so). Studies done since then and before usually put the percentage of Jewish-Zionists at over 90% of the Jewish population in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, South Africa, Germany, and over 80% in France (though I have heard of a study saying in recent years it is up to 90% there as well). No accurate studies since the fall of communism have been done (as far as I know) within the former Soviet Union.
The Torah does not state only the Messiah can re-establish the State of Israel - this is an issue of interpretation - what is said is this:
He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel -"And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth." (Isaiah 11:12)
When Isaiah was written there were Jews (Hebrews) in Israel. What was being said was those who are not in Israel must be gathered up. This does not mean Jews must wait for the Messiah to come. Just that the Messiah would gather up those Children of Israel who were living in foreign lands and bring them back. What must be understood it was during Isaiah's life that the ancient Kingdom of Israel fell to the Assyrians (the 10 lost tribes). He was most likely talking about those people and not the decendants of Judea directly (although I am sure he would like to see these people returned as well as part of his prophessy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isiah |

Those who are against Israel are against God. There is also nothing wrong with Zionism. Zionism is simply wanting to have (Israel) a Jewish state for the Jewish people. Goodness, gracious, there is nothing wrong in that. Arabs have like what, 22 countries, the Jews have 1. You do the math. |
