Men can still marry four wives in some islamic countries like SA but most moderate muslim men dont do that anymore.

because back then, that is 1000+ years ago, mean NEEDED more than wife, because lots of them died early and during childbirth

now that we have technology and a high mortality rate , we can say that we are civilized enough to be happy with being with one other person.

plus do you know how much financially consuming to have just 1 wife ???

in the beginning of Islam not all Muslims was married more than one wife although there was a reason for marring more than one,wars,spreading the religion,the simplified life..etc,but those days the life is more complicated,more difficult so man is not able to marry more than one wife ,cuz of life expenses and not being able to be fair with them and also there is no reason to have more than one.

Many men don't want the responsibility of taking care of 4 wives and their children. When it comes down to divorce, they do not want to have to pay so much alimony. A man can always marry one and cheat, like many men do, lol! I'm sure even with 4, 6 or 8 wives, some men will find the time and energy to cheat.

I know many brothers with more than one wife. And all are doing fine. For people who say its out of date? SubhanAllah this is in Quran, the perfect book for allllll time. You dont like it, take it up with Allah and His messenger (saws) It IS a time of war and famine, just as it has always been in the dunya. Look at Chechnya, many many women have had the husbands murdered by the russians, so a brother takes another to support her....same in Iraq, Yemen, all over. Is it for everyone, no...but I remind my brothers and sisters to be very careful....what Allah and His messenger (saws) have decided we have No right to have an opinion on, or we are in plain and clear error.
