That was after the Partition Plan; you should study history more. The zionist regime did not exist on the date you mention, and there was no attack on the territory allotted to the jews; it was the other way around - jew attacks on the area allotted to the Pals. To answer: they did not attack, they depended, with very minimal resources while the jewish agency was copiously funded by American jewish organizations and armed by the USSR using Czechoslovakia as a cut-out.

Cool Breeze
They didn't because "Israel" didn't even exist until May 14,1948.

Palestinians were fighting as early as 1917 although there fight was very effective but the lack of weapon made the result obvious specially the British "mandate army" made it easy that by 1948 they left the land leaving behind at least 100 000 israeli soldiers and 2 million palestinian out of home by the end of 1948

A better question would be "Why does every one attack the Jews?"

First they were deported from Poland, Russia, Germany, Italy, France, Greece, Austria, Hungary, Romania etc etc next they flee to Palestine but no one wants them there neither. The Palestinians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians, Egyptians nor any other Arabs want them there, why? Why don't the Jews get out of places they are not wanted and liked? The answer is that Jews like to plant themselves in hostile environments to gain sympathy from others.

HopelessZ00
Israel was not around in 1947 therefore your question is Invalid. Cheers!

And... what is your point,my dear fellow?
It's been almost a century.
Is this a reason for all of those child killings and savage treatment of the Palestinians?
If you have something against Egypt, go fight Egypt, not 12 year old schoolchildren.
If you have something against the Palestinian guerrillas go find them and deal with them, do not make a whole nation suffer just like the German Nazis did this in the 40ties.
If you think I am not making any sense, then I feel the utmost sorry for you,my fellow poster.
The Jews must wake up someday and have a good look around them.
Then and only then they will realize of how wrong they've been behaving for all of these years against their cousins the Arabs.
Greetings

Mimi
Because the Partition plan was not fair to the Arabs. The Arabs at that time were majority (2 thirds of the population) and owned at least 80% of the land according to the british ownership documents (some sources even say that the Arabs owned 93% of the land). The Jews who were less than one third of the population owned about 10% of the land. The Partition plan gave the Jews 56% of the land and the Arabs 43% of the land. The (at least) 37% of the land that the Arabs owned and went to Jews was not compensated for. And the owners of these lands objected but were not heard.
In addition to that, Balfour declaration clearly denied the Arab self determination in the land and the Arabs were afraid of that point and thus the 5 armies attacked "Israel" not in 1947 but in 1948 to stop its creation..

because the arabs didnt get there way, so the only way they know is to attack, November 29: UN General Assembly recommends slight variant of UNSCOP partition plan by 33 to 13 votes with 10 abstentions. Arab representatives walk out of assembly.

It actually started in 1948.

In May, 1948, the Arab States responded to the creation of the UN-mandated Jewish State of Israel with a 5-power attack by regular armies, from Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, together with armed Palestinians, and armed Arab volunteers,
including Moslem Brotherhood elements.

The Arabs called on the Arab Palestinians to evacuate Israel, and so allow a "free-fire zone" for the 5 invading forces. This, together with the impact of fighting, led to a major fleeing of Palestinians, whose total numbers equalled the Jews who fled from the Arab world, mostly to Israel.

The Arabs that fled have been left in camps by the Arab Governments since 1949, and were never integrated, unlike the similar number of Jewish refugees from the Arab world, who were fully integrated into Israeli society. Neither did the Arabs move to any peace treaty with Israel, to addreess this, or any other issue.

To defend the Palestinians from heavily financed and well-armed jewish marauders.

Israeli atrocities against Palestinians started before the UN declaration of the new state.
See for yourself.
http://www.soundofegypt.com/palestinian/adult/massacres.htm
The violent new state which did not care for any human values and started its brutal killing machine in preparation to the foundation of the new state forced the the countries neighboring Palestine to act though they were not ready for such a war.

They seen how racist, evil and dangerous to the world peace the new state will be before anyone else.

The U.N. [General Assembly Resolution 181] Partition vote http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Peace%20Process/Guide%20to%20the%20Peace%20Process/UN%20General%20Assembly%20Resolution%20181 called for a plan to create 2 states, one Jewish and the other Arab, in the British-controlled Palestine Mandate.
Although the land for the proposed all-new Arab state (TransJordan) constituted most of the land formerly promised to Israel, the Jews accepted the results of the international vote. http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_independence_un_role.php
Ironically, it was the Arab delegates to the UN who stormed out, rejecting the UN plan and threatening war to prevent partition. According to a 1947 Time Magazine article, "All Arab delegations announced that they would boycott the partition plan, have nothing more to do with UN discussions of Palestine."
The Arab armies attacked in 1948 after months of preparation.

Edit: "2 million", Naserq? How creative. Try: a few thousand refugees, the majority of whom fled (according to Arab sources) without ever seeing one of those fierce soldiers that you claim Israel had. http://www.eretzyisroel.org/~jkatz/refugees2.html#3
