Egyptians were mad (as they should be) that they would have to go through the "polling process" as any other monument or "wonder" would. I mean come on, they are the only last surviving 7th wonder of the ancient world! It is a no brainer that they should automatically be one of the 7 wonders. So the people behind this stunt pulled the pyramids out and claimed they are officially a wonder but they were picking 7 new wonders. So actually it is 8 I guess, but it doesnt matter.
TIme has not taken the pyramids and I do not think this stupid contest stunt will either. the Pyramids are a wonder and I love going there! |

They are not out... They have not been put in the vote in the first place... this was mailnly because of some active campaigning by Dr. Zahi Hawas...
The pyramids of Giza, the only surviving structures from the original seven wonders of the ancient world, were assured of retaining their status in addition to the new seven after indignant Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete.
The campaign to name new wonders was launched in 1999 by the Swiss adventurer Bernard Weber, and more than 100 Million people voted to chose them online... the results were announced yesterday in Lisbon.

The Great Wall of China, Rome's Colosseum, India's Taj Mahal, Jordan's Petra was the seventh winner. Peru's Machu Picchu, Brazil's Statue of Christ Redeemer and Mexico's Chichen Itza pyramid. |

they are not out of the list, they are simply the only wonder that is still around from ancient days. there has been some hype about a new list of current seven wonders of the world that still exists in the world. they are doing a survey to include a new list of seven wonders like the Colosseum in Rome and Eiffel tower for example. but the pyramids will always be the number one wonder of the world. |

Contest or no contest, the pyramids, being 7000 years of age, stand as a true wonder of the world regardless of the choices of these or those. This is exactly why the company responsible for this contest declared that the pyramids still stand as the "honorary" wonder of the world.
I personally believe it is ok to choose different wonders, for the purpose of tourism promotin of these areas, and consequently enhance the economies of these said areas. The pyramids are perfectly known for what they are, and honestly do NOT need a company, a vote, or any other thing to acknowledge their already well known value. We should be happy they're out of voting, in the light that they're considered as "out of competition". |

firstly,the one who called for this new wonders is not an archaeologist or an expert or a professor
he is just the owner of a big tourism company.
2-that man did this only because he wanted to achieve more profits by selling T-shirts and pics of the new wonders
3-he choosed the new wonders to insure his ignorance
do u imagine considiring the treasury of petra greater than the pyramids??
4-above all,the pyramids is still strong and living to this day
you should read for farouk hosny or mostafa mahmoud talking about pyramids
and guess what???they r not sure what the great pyramid -named khufu - acurrately is.
it cant be just a tomb,many scientists proved undeniable facts about its greatness

do you actually think anyone will even remember this new list in a few years time, let alone what was on it. i dont and the Giza pyramids will remain the leading wonder of the world long after others have fallen to dust. |
