Because Israelis refuse to admit that Jerusalem is an Arabic city, and it's the capital of Palestine. So, if they let the Palestinians celebrate it, it would be an admission that Jerusalem is an Arabic city. |

Because isreal is the "only democracy in the region" and they have the "most moral army in the world" which only "occasionally" kills Palestinian children and Americans. |

Cultural imperialism. Israeli's want to dehumanize and disenfranchise the legitimate land owners of Palestine. They want to drive them into the ground
Oh and if the Israeli's want to know what a Palestinian is, well those unarmed women and children they killed in Gaza - they were Palestinians. |

I've already replied to your question on "Current Events" but I just couldn't resist letting what "Divine Creation" wrote go unanswered. It's just begging for my reply.
"Jerusalem belongs to the arabs, they fought and beaten The Crusaders"
Well, if to look at it from that perspective then.. Jerusalem belongs to the Israelies, they fought and beaten the Arabs :)
And if anyone wants to read my serious on-topic answer as well, here it is:

If they can't stop the missles from being launched from Gaza, how could they stop people from celebrating? I doubt what you've written is true anyway. Can I have a link please? |

Just because the Al-Masjid El-Aqsa stands on the ruins of the Temple does not give the Arabs of the west bank and Gaza the right to make any decisions about anything that happens in the capital of Israel.
It's just like Israelis chose Cairo as a cultural capital, after all the Ben Ezra Synagogue stands there, would Egyptians let them ??
The Al-Masjid El-Aqsa was built in 709 AD and the Ben Ezra Synagogue was sold to the Jews in 882 AD. |

Because Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. There is currently no such place as 'Palestine'.
The capital of the Muslim world is Mecca. Mohammed was the founder of Islam - he viewed Mecca as the capital, so why do those who profess to be followers of Islam go AGAINST the founder of their religion? |

Because Jerusalem belongs to Israel, not the Arabs. That would equate to the Germans claiming Paris, France as their "cultural capital" for a year.
There are thousands of Arab cities they could have planned to take over for this so-called celebration, so why did they try to choose a city that isn't even in an Arab state? To stir up more strife with Israel, that's why. This was nothing but another in your face attempt to claim the Holiest City in Judaism as theirs.
The Arabs really need to get over this jealousy they have of Israel and stop trying to force them back into submission with all these phony excuses to go to war. |

The main reason for israel to prevent those celebrations is that nationalistic and islamofacistic organizations related to terrorist acts use cultural events to feed the palestinians hatred to israel and the jews.
The other reasons require large amounts of information and understanding of the geopolitical demographic and history of the city and israel, in order to reach this understanding i'd suggest reading books and regularly watching Al-Jazeera and israeli media. |
