Why do americans go on vacation to lebanon? are they stupid, or just dumb?

I guess because they want to. What bothers me is the fact that us taxpayers pay the bill to haul their ignorant butts back home. I say just leave them there.

They're not "stupid and dumb" enough to go to some country where there's war going on.

I think the some go beacuse they are Arabs. some have a citizenship of lebanon. Many are students. Hell knows why they go!!!!!!

We'll start with "dumb" first - I see no reason to believe that they
are unable to speak (as in "struck dumb").

As to "stupid", they are making the trade-off between safety
and curiosity. Realistically, the risk of traveling in Lebanon
prior to the war was no worse than travelling in China, Laos
Cambodia, etc (where diseases are huge problems for tourism).

My spouse and I went to Egypt a few years back and had
the oppurtunity to go to Jerusalem from there for a week
or so. We passed on it because we thought our parents
would freak out.

The current fighting between the Palastinians and the
Israelis broke out about 2 months after we would have gone
and it is quite likely it may be more than a decade before
we can see this fascinating city.

Its really all a matter of risk/benefit analysis.

The parents weren't particularly happy with us going to Egypt
either. There were armed guards in many places throughout
Cairo - primarily protecting tourists, their single largest
source of income - and it was a spectacular vacation.
However, we are interested in history and different
cultures.

If exposing yourself to other places of the world doesn't
interest you, then it isn't worth the risk.

The safest place may be in your bed. There are good things
to do there too, but I'm not sure I'd want to spend my life
there.

Some Americans have to work in Lebanon and some of them get to bring their family for holidays to Lebanon.

But, some of those Americans don't think twice before they do anything and learn to understand whats the situation is happening in the world today.

Some are stupid, others have relatives there.

Most go to visit familly. There is a large community of Lebanese in Detroit. Most of them have fammily in lebanon so they go to visit, take the kids to see the grans parents.

Lebanon used to be a nice country until Syria and Hizbullah destroyed it.

Now Iran, through Hizbullah, is trying to turn Lebanon into a radical Muslim country in order to have a jumping board into Europe, so they can spread Islam and do their Jihad.

I feel sorry for the people of Lebanon

Um most of the Americans there aren't on vacation. Most of them are working for overseas companies. I'd also suspect some may be there because they have family there.

No they are not stupid or dumb. They're paid good money for what they do and wouldn't be there unless they had at least a few brain cells.

Well people go to experience the culture and the sites. Although, I don't think it's very smart to travel to ANY country that is in a war.

ok, if you HAVENT NOTICED people were basically stuck there after they came on vacation
as for the others, i think of them as noble
they went there to be with there families that couldnt get out, and they wanted to die with them if they were to be killed
and yes, lebanese are VERY NICE TO AMERICANS. they treat them better than anything
come to think of it, lebanese are kind to ANY nationality that visits them, unless they are in conflict with them
and if you think its dumb then you dont know the beautiful landmarks, and miracles that are in that poor country

Lebanon is a very beautiful place, and a lot of people like to expierence other cultures. Beruit is known as the 'Paris' of the Middle East because of it's French inspired architecture, which might be another reason to visit Lebanon. Some where probably visiting family, while others where there for buisness. And visiting another country doesn't make people stupid or dumb, it would probably make them more smart because they are expierencing new things, even if there is a war going on. I'm sure they didn't plan on there being a war while they visited.

Babe, If u visited Lebanon before you wouldnt have asked this stupid question. Lebanon is a very nice toursitic place. it is awesome but this can happen anywhere if all the world is leaving a country to be destryed by a zionist bloody thing.
