Because there are some men whom go through mid life crisis, and/or later on Andropause (usually through ages 45-55).
Andropause is male menopause. As they age, some men produce less androgen (which are hormones, like estrogen is to the woman) and quite often experience a drop in their testosterone levels.

They feel irritable, sensitive, just as women who experience menopause.

Being with a younger woman could be a way to deal with this phase and the insecurities that come with it, just as buying a new porsche or toy, as a distraction.

Where menopause concerns, women usually express their hot sweats (or general bodily discomforts) and frustrations through emotional outbursts, while men through physical, the need to be held, touched and engage in sexual activity (which most translate to attention).

My opinion is that if two consenting adults enjoy each other's company and body, it is their personal business, no matter the age.

It is disgusting no matter who does it, celebrity or regular person. It is like being a paedophile, and it is not a nice feeling to have some old dude undressing you with his pervert eyes, and drooling like a caveman. It is not gentlemanly behaviour, it is disgusting. Just because some dude is old, does not automatically make him mature, he could be a stupid as a 15 year old. They don't think that someone might do the same to their daughter, and how disgusting that would be. Men really need to stop being pigs.

It's women who decide to go for older men.

We are just more mature than them, so in order to find someone to your level you need to find someone who has lived longer. sometimes much much ,much longer.

Age is just a number...beauty is in the eyes of the beholder..why when celebraties date and marry younger partners form either sex, it is ok, but when average joes do it it is discusting, how come?

Like you should know there is a menopause women go through. Signs of it are heat waves etc.
What many people do not realize/know, men are going through a process like this, too. It's called: going to the second spring.
When men (not all, like not all women have the same symtoms during the change either) going through that time, they want to prove theirseves still being attractive to younger women.
Most of them just do not realize that these young women have either a problem (having a father's complex) or are just looking for somebody who is doing well in a job already and makes enough money to support them.

I do know that generalizing is wrong, but you will hardly find a poor older man having a serious relationship with a good looking young woman. Wonder why.

I know that there are good relationships where age does not matter, but...................it's either the older man who wants to show off with a young lady or it's the young lady who wants to take advantage of the older man's money. These girls get their share out of it moneywise, while the older men use them as a "status symbol" (see, I still can do/have it).

I'm sorry but there has to be a cutoff point for men who prefer older women...... my goodness , a 70 year old granny does nothing to stimulate me at all ! Maybe when I'm 80 it will be a different story ! lol

What interests me more than anything are the characteristics that go to make up the person .....sure , there is physical beauty but more important is the personality , intellect , sense of humour , character etc etc in other words , the WHOLE person.

On the other hand , I adore you all & have to say I enjoy being Jeddo & friend to you , regardless of age or sex !

Men are attracted to young women because they are in their prime, both in looks and fertility. Its a primal instinct, all people (men and women alike) would choose a mate that is most likely to produce healthy, strong offspring.

I think its programmed into them. As a species we look to reproduce, women in their twenties are the right age for this, men respond to what they know and they know twenty year old women from when they were in their twenties. The older women they knew were in the do not touch category. Now of course they are older, but they haven't grown up in their minds. Even when they don't want children, they look for the signs of fertility in women, fresh skin, plump bosom, no wrinkles, and maybe no competition in the experience category either. Older women actually expect something from their men and that can scare the timid away.

well...I am in my twenties and find older men very attractive...but I am sure that when I am older, I will want a younger man..lol!

but girls in their late teens turn me on, around 17-20 years old.

most people think its strange but i cant help it, i dont know why that is just the way i am.

Err....it goes like this:
Old men want younger women because it makes them feel like a stud. The reality is that no younger woman wants them unless they have money. And they cannot perform. SO they now go for Asian women who are easy to please.
Most younger men want older women because they appreciate their seasoned and ripeness and they can keep up with them.

I think they probably prefer younger women because they are not so set in there ways easier to convince.. they are more vibrate and outgoing they have more energy not to mention no wrinkles... If I were a man I would want a younger woman...I have always liked older men:) one good thing if you marry an older man you will never have to worry about him leaving you for a younger woman because you are the younger woman lol...

The answer is very simple> but let me ask you first, why young girls (do not neglect the word YOUNG) prefer an older man?
well both, man and woman, prefer the perfect example of the other,, while a young woman would prefer a real man (the correct image of manhood,) a young boy will prefer an older woman,, (a complete image of a female),,,,,later by time this young boy become a man,, he will seek a perfect image of a woman and that will be a young one,, and even an older woman will seek a younger man,,,
it is all about function in life... while a real man is considered more functional for protection , having the responsibility,,(and babies),,,,a mature(older) woman for a young boy represents the more functional in sex and having babies,,,(not like a child girl),,,,,
then later a man who is in his 50, 60 s is still seeking a more functional woman to have babies ,, that will be for a younger woman as man till very old age is capable to reproduce,,, while a woman in her 40s will also prefer a younger man as he presents for her a better function in sex and protection, (not like an oldy with health to the ground), that all happens in the level of the subconscious,,, the conscious in human which stores the laws moral , traditions and society acceptance will filter the desires of the subconscious,, while in the west the relation between an old man and young woman is mostly not accepted,,, in the east it is accepted for many reasons one of them is the economic reason as young men generally are not able to support the families,, and eastern women like to take the easy way and get a ready Men,, so the conscious will allow the relation , As a man in the east does not feel it is odd to have this relation,,, but believe me as a man lived in both societies even old men in the west seek these relations in the subconscious but as it is less accepted , the conscious does not allow it and we do not see a lot of these relations(unless again the economic reason convinces the young girl to accept it)

Natural selection.. Every man wants to be with a 20 year old woman whether he is 16 or 96. Man is seeking the best girl to make the most and best babies. The woman makes the decision if she should go with the educated and successful 40 year old with the Mercedes or the 20 year old boy on his skateboard. 70 year old men don't look at magazines with 70 year old women.

lol i dont know....you know i am not even 20 yet, and i get men in their 40's checking me out at the stores....yuck i am probably the age of their grandchildren :P
but if its a guy who is like in his 20s i wouldnt mind, i'd actually be lookin back too
