Why do some white South Africans still threaten to leave the country everyday?

I'm with you on this......if people want to go they must go.....those who want to stay and contribute to the growth of this country are welcome......theyn have that right.......

Some seem to be interested in drawing our attention with the hope that we will beg them to stay........people with suicidal tendencies don't make noise that they are going to kill themselves....they just do it.....so those who want to go must do likewise...stop threatening that you are going to leave....just leave......it's just a simple thing to do!!!!!!

Ayiza, I cannot answer for others, and can only speak to myself. Why do I want ti leave:

1. I am scared that my career opportunities are being limited due to government sponsired racial descrimination;
2. I am scared by the fact that someone like Zuma can become president;
3. I feel like a stranger in my own country, many things that are important to me is being thrown away.

Why have I not left:
1. I am African, love South Africa and did not think it will get this bad;
2. I never thought Zuma will get so much support;
3. I have been living fairly comfortably.

Will I leave:
As soon as I get a job overseas! Unfortunatly making this type of change is very difficult if you are middle aged. I am not the most desirable person in overseas job market, and generally would not be able to go unless I can prove that I have a job.

If that makes me a useless one, so be it.

this is a highly emotional matter, but I really believe that people must stop bickering. let those who want to leave do so, but the government must do more so that others must not think of leaving. i understand the frustrations that some whites are going through. the country must retain as much as we can. we need their skills, and this is also their home...^^(((<>)))^^

I have said this time and time again that I am here to stay ! My ancestors arrived in S.A in 1734 ! For 273 years have we called this home and we have helped build this country . Very few were wealthy people and most of them hard workers ! None of them were ''bloodsuckers that benefited from apartheid'' The ones who left did so because of reasons that were valid for them !
Now my problem is with people who rant about white people that wants to leave. If it does not bother you why do you keep on ranting about it ? What you are doing is ''hate speech'' and that is also taboo in this new SA of ours ! I wish you would stop whining about apartheid and constructively help building a better future ! Apartheid ended when you were still a baby !

Yes I am one of the hornest hard working ones you mention but I am rather horniest. Most of the people that benefitted from apartheid are all very old now. Most of the white SA's have allready left and I think you should leave as well.

You have no idea what you talking about. Look at the statistics it's not only the whites leaving. When a family has experienced violent crime what do you expect them to do sit arround till next time. When you can't find work to suport your family starve. Medical system falling apart ,. The list is long .

Even so, I don't think it's fair to say that anyone who wants to leave is a useless, paranoid blood sucker who benefited from apartheid. They are people, not statistics. You would need to at least hear their reasons first.

For some of the whites this is their first experience of a democratic system and they are confused. They have right of thought so we should wish them all the best if they can find greener pastures.

You should beg me to stay, I am a highly qualified individual, free thinking and free spirited. It is because of people like you who dont realize how important it is to keep us around or else you are stuck with a whole population of uneducated fools trying to run the place.. oh wait.. too late.

I havent left because it is too expensive. Our weak rand has made it nearly impossible for me to leave. And the ironic thing is, the longer I wait the worse it gets. I dread to see how the exchange rate will tumble even more when Zuma is president. my advice is to start buying dollars and Euros.

The only people I know who are benifitting in this land of our are the ones who know exactly how to milk it. No not from apratheid, but from the shoddy goverment. All the loops holes and the poor enforcement of the law. Thanks to the CURRENT goverment.
