Indeed, Thomas and instead all of those brothers and sisters, of trying together to make the land where Jesus Christ was born and walked upon, a paradise, they turned that in a war zone.
There has been not a single peaceful day for 60 whole years.
I do not blame only the Israelis, but they have the lion's share since we all have witnessed unheard atrocities from the Jewish side.
The Hebrew language is very similar to the Arabic one, by I am not an authority on that, in order to give you more input.
The gene similarity? frightening similar!
Turks and Kurds share smaller similarities than those of the Arabs and the Jews.
If I am not mistaken the University of Barcelona, Spain did a survey on that very recently, giving us many new clues and data.

They are both of Middle Eastern descent. DNA studies have shown they share a lot of genes. A white Jew will have more genes in common with a Palestinian than with a white Brit (unelss they are a convert or both their parents are converts).

Hebrew and Arabic are both Semitic languages and have a lot of words that are similar or even idenitcal, both are official languages of Israel.

Well, at the risk of speaking in massive generalizations, the tribes that made up the early Hebraics and those that made up the early nomads (who became Muslims later) are both of a basic semetic stock - they are racially/regionally related. Of course, this regards only those of that arabia region.

Dear Thomas, I would assume since you are in Israel, you probably know this, however I will review the genetics as I understand it. If you go back to the book of Genesis, you will see that Abraham is considered the father of the people who became the Jewish nation. And, I believe, that this lineage has continued to this day, because as you know, the term 'Jew' has come to mean not only those of the Jewish religion, but those of the Jewish nationality. If you go to about the 25 th chapter of Genesis, you will see that Isaac who is Abraham's long awaited son, married Rebbecca and had two sons, Esau and Jacob. As you read the story of Esau and Jacob, you find that while the Jews have descended from Jacob, it appears the 'Arabs' have descended from Esau. This may help you understand the similarity in looks. It depends on your definition of Jewish.
In many Arab countries there are Jewish-Arab minority groups such as the Syrian Jews or the Yemeni Jews. These people are indistinguishable from other Arabs. The same would be true with Hispanic Jews or Black Jews. However, when it comes to the state of Israel, the majority of Israeli Jews tend to look more European than Semitic. The vast majority of Israeli Jews are immigrants from Europe, where they've lived for nearly two thousand years. After two thousand years, intermarrige is bound to happen, eventualy causing the majority of Semitic triats to be replaced with European traits. Currently, Palestinians and other Arabs are more Semitic than the majority of Israelies are (making the Holocaust even more ironic).

I'll say they look similar but they don't look the same. It could be because Israel (which has a high jewish population) is in the middle east and so are the arabian countries. No most don't speak the same language.

Only one of the Jews I know looks Arab. The others are European.. But it could just be a matter of the difference between being ethnically and religiously Jewish (I also know two atheists who call themselves Jewish. One is blonde and fair; the other actually does look a bit Arabic.)

However, I think it would be fair to say that ethnic Jews and Arabs share common genes. They believe they are descended from the same person (Abraham/Ibrahim) and the original Jewish homeland was indeed in the Middle East (I'll let everyone else argue about whether that homeland is/was today's Israel.) But language-wise, Arabs tend to speak Arabic. Jews generally speak Hebrew and at least one other language. Arabic and Hebrew are both Semitic languages, with similar words (Peace: Salaam in Arabic, Shalom in Hebrew. Father: Abu in Arabic, Abba in Hebrew.)

Arabs and Jews are both semetic people so they look similar. They are decendants of Abraham. Abraham is the father of all Muslims, Jews and christians not only Jews. However, some Jews like some Europian Jewish groups aren't semites and they don't look like Arabs in anyway.

And as someone pointed out, you can know Jewish people from their eyes. They are always frowning and have piercing scary eyes.

Who said that they do ? I am not sure that this assumption is correct. Maybe they do in America , but not in Israel - I think that most of the Israeli residents can see differences between the groups( even if they are minute) , if they try .

well languages came from aramic,
tehy dont really look alike, i mean most jews look european and have light hair or light eyes. or they have black hair and arabs dont have black hair we have dark dark brown. but yeah tehy are all mixed up... we are all mixed up. so im sure we share same gene.
moroccan jews look liek moroccan muslims. no difference, i see lots when i go back home

oh and being jewish is a religion way of life is not your ethnicity or your nationality. like muslims.... im muslim, but my ethnicity is arab/moroccan/north african... im all mixed up hehehehe

What do you mean "look the same?" You can tell a Jew by their appearance? Well, NO you can't. Judaism is a RELIGION, not a race. There are black Jews and Hispanic Jews. I am almost 6 feet tall, have red hair and blue eyes. My husband is 6 feet 2 inches and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Do we look like Arabs?

Many, but not all Jews are related to other Jews.

I suspect that you would have difficulty telling apart Chinese and Japanese.

It's just a matter of being familiar with one group or another.

hey! im a jewish (american), but i was in israel last year,
and specifically in israel i hear what you are saying.
relegious jews you can tell their jewish from thier garb(blkwhite!) but irrelegious jewish israelis, without head coverings and israeli arabs do look similar because of thier dark skin and dark features.

but someone else commented and ive notiv-ced it too-
eyes are different.
arabs have these piercing eyes.....
while jews arent so scary looking!

about the language, yes in israel most arabs speak hebrew also so that makes it harder to tell them apart.
like for example sometimes i couldnt decide if my cab driver was jewish or arabic, so from curiosity i check thier name on thier driver id and am most of the time correct in my guess...or sometimes so wrong!

and last thing, technically we both come from abraham, like someone mentioned! jacob and esav were brothers!
