Why do white South Africans hate Jews?

I don't think they hate them as Jews (race/nation) but because most of them (SA whites) are Christians, they have problems with Judaism - which is the religion of, predominantly, the Jewish people. This dislike is not restricted to South Africa..it is a world phenomenon. Religions are at war with each other. While the Xians believe that Jesus is their saviour, Judaism don't. There is that long tensions between the two religions on this subject.

Judaism has always been monotheistic in theology. According to it, central authority is not vested in a person or group, but in sacred texts and traditions. In contrast, to Xians, the central tenet of their religion is the belief that Jesus is the Son of God, part of the trinity, the savior of souls who is the messiah. He is God's revelation through flesh. Jesus was, in Xian terms, God incarnate, God in the flesh who came to Earth to absorb the sins of humans and therefore free from sin those who accepted his divinity.
To Jews, whatever wonderful teacher and storyteller Jesus may have been, he was just a human, not the son of God (except in the metaphorical sense in which all humans are children of God). In the Jewish view, Jesus cannot save souls; only God can. Jesus did not, in the Jewish view, rise from the dead.
He also did not absorb the sins of people. For Jews, sins are removed not by Jesus' atonement but by seeking forgiveness. Jews seek forgiveness from God for sins against God and from other people (not just God) for sins against those people. Seeking forgiveness requires a sincere sense of repenting but also seeking directly to redress the wrong done to someone. Sins are partially removed through prayer which replaced animal sacrifice as a way of relieving sins. They are also removed by correcting errors against others.
Jesus, for Xians, replaced Jewish law. For traditional Jews, the commandments and Jewish law are still binding.
Jesus is not seen as the messiah. In the Jewish view, the messiah is a human being who will usher in an era of peace. We can tell the messiah by looking at the world and seeing if it is at peace. From the Jewish view, this clearly did not happen when Jesus was on Earth or anytime after his death.

Ayiza , I certainly never come across a white South African who hates Jews ! Where did you get that Idea ! Christians especially won't have a problem with Jews ! I think you are of the road on this one ! The Jews was my Gods chosen people !

Well, seems to me that you frequent people who 'hate' other groups. The majority of people I know (white, pink, yellow, black and all colours) do not have any groups that they hate.

Dude, you're opening a can of worms that you should've left. It's not a white thing. There are black, coloureds & indians that dislike them too.

This is a matter of religeous oppinion. As Christians, we beleave that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Jews believe that he was just a profit, like Matthew or Markus. Many people take religion very seriously & if someone disagrees with them, they dislike them.

My view is that you choose your religion, when you die & go to the afterlife, you will have to anwer to whoever is the real god. Most religions are very similar though, as they have the same general believe, but have different names for their gods.

Why only white people? (there are other races too) Why only South Africans? Well, just for the record...I'm part of the lot who don't hate the Jews. In any case, there are Jews of all races...check out a guy by the name Natan Gamedze. And, it hasn't got anything to do with race...more about what the religion is about and how the Jews are. Honestly, I couldn't care what colour Jews are, etc.

There are many people that hate the Jews, not just the "white south africans." But it is not hurting them, so hey they can continue to have their feelings, so long as they do not act out.

To each his own. There are people that hate children, blacks, women, men, gay's,cops, judges, the list is endless.

I 'm white and again oddly enough , most of my really good friends are jewish(i am a christian) .
So i think maybe you could say those Afrikaaners who are part of those ridiculous clans who's members cant even stay on a horse, are antisemitic as they have adopted the ridiculous sentiments of Adolf Hitler as they feel it makes them important!! Dont listen to them , they are idiots anyway!

I don't hate anyone, but I know that my dad tends to dislike Jews. I think it's because, when SA was in the depression and the Afrikaners had a very hard time, the Jews still made a lot of money out of them.
It's bit long ago now though, my dad's 72 and needless to say, we don't really see eye to eye on most things in life...

I could propose some reasons for anti-Jewish feeling in SA from certain quarters of white society.....
1.making money on the diamonds and then emigrating to Israel, make your money and leave mentality.
2. playing "victims" of apartheid as well, using Joe Slovo as a mascot and denying that the Jews supported apartheid at all when most of District Six belonged to Jewish landlords who let the place turn into a slum, sold it off to the government to be demolished and moved to Camp's Bay with the profits. Leaving coloureds to be "evicted" to Manenberg.
I'd like to stress that these are things I have heard some say, but generally I do not think that White SAfricans hate Jews at all, maybe the AWB do, but then they hate most people don't they?
