Why does Israel need to use the Holocaust for everything?

Since Israel is now supposedly a "civilised" country, why does it use the Holocaust for political purposes?

Should the palestinians have equal rights, with borders recognised by Israel? "Well you see the jews in the holocaust..."

Should Israel obey international laws with regards to its nuclear programme? "Well you see they way Iran is behaving and six million jews in the holocaust..."

they do not bring it up jsut for such a thing as you are stating. it shoudlnever beforegotten. that was horrible but as you must realize its already been done in other counties such as africa, afaganastan and others also. but yes it shoudl be there land they owned it and they irigated it and made it furtule so why should they give it to someone who wants to be sitting onthe land that is what has happened. they didn't own it but became sitters onthe land and its the isreals rights to have their land back. no one wanted it till they fixed it and learned how to do it right. they do obide by laws but all the coutries want to hate them beause they are workers and try hard to keep things right. yes see iran if they ar enot careful they will have u.s. and isreal on their butts kicking names and stuff they are wrong and they are trying to use it against us and everyone but there are so many countries that are fed up witht hem also.

They don't! But the Holocaust should never be forgotten and when your surrounded by nations calling for your destruction it would be hard not to think back to a time when it almost happened.

Israel uses the Holocaust to solicit sympathy and shut up any criticism of its policies. Palestinians should have equal rights, but that would go against the Zionist ideology so they are treated as dirt in the occupied territories.

Israel should follow international laws; since it doesn't, there is no peace. Israel violates more UN resolutions than any other country.

Israel does not "use" the Holocaust, still the Holocaust is not to be forgotten by anyone on this earth.
I fail to see the connection between Holocaust and Palestinains.

THE TRUTH IS HOLY

The foremost scholar on the mid-east conflict of the 1960's and 1970's addressed this issue nearly a quarter-century ago:

"Dear World:

I understand that you are upset over us, here in Israel. Indeed, it appears that you are quite upset, even angry. (Outraged?) Indeed, every few years you seem to became upset over us. Today, it is the brutal repression of the Palestinians"; you never even notice OUR innocent victims of brutal cold-blooded murder, yesterday, it was Lebanon; before that it was the bombing of the nuclear reactor in Baghdad and the Yom Kippur War and the Sinai campaign. It appears that Jews who try to defend themselves and who, therefore, remain alive, upset you most extraordinarily.

Of course, dear world, long before there was an Israel, we - the Jewish people - upset you. We upset a German people who elected a Hitler and we upset an Austrian people who cheered his entry into Vienna and we upset a whole slew of Slavic nations - Poles, Slovaks, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Russians, Hungarians, Romanians. And we go back a long, long way in the history of world "upset." We upset the Cossacks of Chmielnicki who massacred tens of thousands of us in 1648- 49; we upset the Crusaders who, on their way to liberate the Holy Land, were so upset at Jews that they slaughtered untold numbers of us. We upset, for centuries, a Roman Catholic Church that did its best to define our relationship through Inquisitions, and we upset the arch- enemy of the Church, Martin Luther, who, in his call to burn the synagogues and the Jews within them, showed an admirable Christian ecumenical spirit.

And it is because we became so upset over upsetting you, dear world, that we decided to "leave" you - in a manner of speaking - and establish a Jewish state. The reasoning was that living in close contact with you, as resident-strangers in the various countries that comprise you, we upset you, irritate you, disturb you. What better notion, then, than to leave you and thus love you - and have you love us? And so we decided to come home - to the same homeland from which we were driven out 1,900 years earlier by a Roman world that, apparently, we also upset.
Alas, dear world, it appears that you are hard to please. Having left you and your pogroms and Inquisitions and Crusades and Holocausts, having taken our leave of the general world to live alone in our own little state - we continue to upset you. You are upset that we "repress" the poor Palestinians (who never had it as good). You are deeply angered over the fact that we do not give up the lands of 1967, which are clearly the obstacle to peace in the Middle East.
Moscow is upset and Washington is upset. The "radical" Arabs are upset and the gentle Egyptian moderates are upset. Well, dear world, consider the reaction of a normal Jew from Israel.
In 1920 and 1921 and 1929, there were no territories of 1967 to impede peace between Jews and Arabs. Indeed, there was no Jewish State to upset anybody. Nevertheless, the same oppressed and repressed Palestinians slaughtered tens of Jews in Jerusalem, Jaffa, Safed and Hebron. Indeed, 67 Jews were slaughtered one day in Hebron - in 1929. Dear world, why did the Arabs - the Palestinians - massacre 67 Jews in one day in 1929? Could it have been their anger over Israeli aggression in 1967?
And why were 510 Jewish men, women and children slaughtered in Arab riots between 1936-39? was it because of Arab upset over1967? And when you, world, proposed a U.N. Partition Plan in1947 that would have created a "Palestinian State" alongside a tiny Israel and the Arabs cried "no" and went to war and killed 6,000 Jews - was that upset stomach caused by the aggression of 1967? And, by the way, dear world, why did we not hear your cry of upset, then? The poor Palestinians who today kill Jews with explosives and firebombs and stones are part of the same people who - when they had all the territories they now demand be given them for their state - attempted to drive the Jewish state in to the sea. The same twisted faces, the same hate the same cry of "itbach-al-yahud" massacre the Jew! - that we hear and see today, were seen and heard then. The same people, the same dream - destroy Israel.
What they failed to do yesterday, they dream of today - but we should not "repress" them...
Dear world, you stood by [during] the Holocaust and you stood by in 1948 as seven states launched a war that the Arab League proudly compared to the Mongol massacres. You stood by 1967 as Nasser, wildly cheered by wild mobs in every Arab capital in the world, vowed to drive the Jews into the sea. And you would stand by tomorrow if Israel were facing extinction.
And since we know that the Arabs-Palestinians daily dream of that extinction, we will do everything possible to remain alive in our own land. If that bothers you, dear world, well - think of how many times in the past you bothered us!. In any event, dear world, if you are bothered by us, here is one Jew in Israel who could not care less."

You know you seldom hear Jews referring to it. Mostly it comes from other peoples either selling it or denouncing it.
Not so long as they are living on Israeli land. Let them go back where the most of them came from all the real Muslim nations.
No one is talking about attacking Israel because it has a bomb. They don't threaten anyone that hasn't promised them death.
Now Iran and Pakistan and India bear close watching.
I don't put Korea on there as I don't think they are a threat to use it just to sell it.

Stumpy
It is very profitable for them.

Yes.

Israhell ignores International law, it currently has about 60 UN resolutions passed against it including the order to stop building on land stolen from Palestinians which it has speeded up in the last year.

1. it doesn't. what, specifically, are you talking about?

2. sure, as soon as the palestinians end their civil war, decide about hamas vs fatah, and negotiate the borders.

3. israel did not sign any treaties, so it IS obeying international law when it comes to nukes. they have never threatened anyone with them, and they need them as a deterrent.

""Well you see they way Iran is behaving and six million jews in the holocaust...""

is that supposed to be a quote? i only ask because you have quotation marks around it. who said it? when was it said? i have never heard anyone but YOU say that.

The jews have lost the right to "use" any holocaust since they are doing the same things to the Palestinians with the help of the fascist Christians of the US.
The nazis started it but the jews have improved it., so the term belongs to the Palestinians today.

They don't use the holocaust. Most of the families in Israel do not have any grandparents who were in the holocaust, since they are from arab countries. But then again, they had their own holocaust (using that term lightly) in the arab countries. If you read about how Israel was created, since the 1870's (this number is important), you start to realize that Israel is not such a bad state and the the conflict in the middle east is not about land. I believe no one really needs to obey international law, but you have to suffer the consequences of having bombs. If Iran believes Israel should not have weapons then do something about it. Iran has nuclear weapons, therefore Israel feels they need to do something about it. Is it bad for Iran to have weapons or Israel? I don't know, but the surrounding countries have to answer this question for themselves, not 20 rich men in the U.N.

Liora
I'm Jewish and Israeli. I don't use the Holocaust for political purposes, nor do any Israelis that I know.

What are these "equal rights" for "Palestinians" that you are talking about? Muslim "Palestine" was an invention of Yasir Arafat - who once declared Jerusalem his home town, but he was actually born & brought up in Cairo on 24.8.1929, and named Mohammed Abdel Rahman al Qudwa al-Husseini - living in Cairo until the age of 28.

The "Palestinians"as a nation of Moslems, were created by Arafat in 1964, with the main goal of destroying the Jewish people living in the Land of Israel. - still the defined goal of Hamas, today.

By adopting the name "Palestinians", the Arabs changed the focus of the Arab-Israeli conflict from a War of Annihilation against the Jewish population to a struggle of 'dispossessed' natives.

In 1923, the British divided the "Palestine" portion of the Ottoman Empire into two administrative districts; Jews would be permitted to settle the 27.8% of the land west of the Jordan River creating a Jewish Palestinian National Homeland, whilst 72.2% was allocated to form an Arab Palestinian nation called Trans-Jordan (meaning "across the Jordan River"). This territory east of the Jordan River was given to Emir Abdullah (from Hejaz, now Saudi Arabia) who was not even an Arab-"Palestinian!"
Problems arose, because Jordan & Lebanon & Egypt abrogated their responsibilities to the Palestinian Arabs that were living on the Lands - contrary to the agreements that were made with them in 1923.

In 1946, Trans-Jordan was again renamed simply Jordan. In other words, the Eastern 72.2% of what was Palestine was renamed twice, in effect, erasing all connection to the name "Palestine!"
The bottom line is that THE PALESTINIAN ARABS WERE ALLOCATED AN "ARAB PALESTINIAN" HOMELAND, in what is now Jordan. The remaining 27.2% of Palestine (now west of the Jordan River) was to be the "Jewish Palestinian" homeland.

Encouraged by growing Arab nationalism throughout the Middle East, the Arabs of that remaining Palestinian territory west of the Jordan River, started to launch attacks upon the Jewish Palestinians in an effort to drive them out. The British at first tried to maintain order but soon (due to the large oil deposits being discovered throughout the Arab Middle East) turned a blind eye. It became clear to the Palestinian Jews that to survive, they must fight the Arabs, and drive out the British.

In 1947, the UN passed Resolution 181, known as the Partition Plan, intended to divide the remaining 27.2% of Palestine into a Jewish Palestinian State and a SECOND Arab Palestinian State (Trans-Jordan being the first) based upon population concentrations. These were to be the Gaza Strip plus Judea-Samaria - today termed the "West Bank" of the Jordan River).
The Jewish Palestinians accepted…..... the Arab Palestinians rejected - because they wanted all of the land, both East AND West of the Jordan River - and to get rid of all the Jews.
In doing this, the General Assembly of the UN violated the League of the Nations' Mandate for Palestine in that it granted political rights to the Arabs in Western Palestine - yet, ironically, the Jews accepted the plan, while the Arabs worked to prevent it.

On May 14, 1948 the Palestinian Jews declared their own State of Israel and became "Israelis." The next day, SEVEN neighbouring Arab armies, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen, invaded Israel. They encouraged most of the Arabs living within the boundaries of the 'newly declared' Israel, to leave, in order to facilitate the slaughter of the Jews -promising that they would be given all Jewish property after the 'victorious Arab armies' won the war.

70% of the Palestinian Arabs who left in 1948 – perhaps 300,000 to 400,000 of them – never even saw an Israeli soldier! They did not flee because they feared Jewish retaliation, but because they determined that while they were gone the Jews would be exterminated, and they would return afterwards to inherit those nice Jewish properties, built with Jewish money from overseas. They guessed wrong; and the Palestinian Arabs are still tortured by the shame of their flight. Their shame is so great because in their eyes running from Jews was like running from women.

The result of the 1948 - 1949 Israeli War of Independence was that the almost-created second Palestinian Arab State was gobbled up by (1) Egypt (occupying the Gaza Strip) and by (2) Trans-Jordan (occupying Judea-Samaria (today termed the "West Bank" of the Jordan River).

During 1950, Trans-Jordan merged the West Bank territory into itself and granted the 'Palestinian Arabs' living there Jordanian citizenship. Since Trans-Jordan was then no longer confined to one side of the Jordan River, it renamed itself simply "Jordan". So, the Arabs of Palestine ended up with nearly 85% of the original territory of Palestine... called Jordan but in reality their Arab "Palesti
