Why is it an insult to Jews when we say "Jews control the media in North America"?

Before I ever went to the Middle East I had never met an Israeli Jew nor Palestinian. I felt sorry for the Jews because of the holocaust and admit a pro-Israel bias based on the only information I had: the media.

Then I went there. To say I was shocked at what I saw and learned would be an understatement. I saw such injustices against the Palestinians and oppression. I couldn't understand why the media didn't report the other side, nor why the rest of the world let these incredible horrific injustices go on.

It's because most of the world doesn't know what's really going on. And the reason why is because the media gives primarily a pro-Israel perspective. They do this because, as you correctly stated Mimi, Jews do own the majority of the media sources.

The largest media conglomerate today is Walt Disney Company and it is owned by a Jewish gentleman, Michael Eisner.

The truth certainly hurts the Jewish cause, which is why they don't want the truth to be told.

I do not know if theJews control the media in north America but I do know that there is a big Jewish comunity in the US
who has a big influence in finance and politics.

If this would not have been the case the State of Israel (no offense please!) may be not have been established. The Jewish community in the US supported the founding of the State Isreal a lot (I do not blame them).

I read the Arab Press and of course it is not objective. I watch American TV and I am wondering why they are not objective at all. I watch European channels and get a much better view.

I do not know (like I said before) if Jews control North America, but I do know that Jews have a big influence on financial and poilitical disicions. No doubt about that!

Its not really an insult anymore... . Its just the usual bog-standard, run of the mill, made-up waffle from the 1930s that the pro Arab lobby wheel out again and again. So I'm not insulted, instead it simply confirms my opinion of those who say things like that...It's to be expected. You have stated your original Hizbbollah support. That kind of implies you already have an anti-jewish (or at least anti-Israeli, which is not the same thing) axe to grind and that you are happy to believe whatever slant suits you. Thats not an insult either, by the way. Its my "fact".

As Jewish people do not even own 10% of the US news papers that part can not be true, its a known fact Arabs own them as they do the ones in England Holland and Germany.

Because it is a lie, not a "fact". It is another anti-Semitic falsehood used to demonize Jews -- part of the whole "the evil Jews are running the world!" BS. Think Hitler...the protocols of the elders of Zion...etc. ... etc. The very terming ("the Jews control the media") suggests insidious grasping and the exertion of a malicious, underhanded power; that is the point of this accusation; to slander by casting Jews as monstrous controllers and villains.

You say it's fact...so prove to me that Jews "control" the media.

The myth that "jews control the media" likely came from Israeli diplomats and politicans while posted on diplomatic missions in the USA a big part of their job was to deal with the media for example it is not uncommon for Israeli diplomats to have lunch with reporters,likely the conversation is about how they potray Israel on the news and they tell them no dont call it an illegal settlement call it a community.

When you have lots of small terminology changes like calling a illegal occupying settlement a town you start to change the picture over time until the hwole picture is changed to something else.

Israel and Israeli interests have a bigger efect on the media then i mentioned but i think its a stretch to say jews own the media.

If this is some attempt to encourage intelligent discussion on protrayl of Jews and/or Arabs in the media it is a poor attempt. I wish Jews controlled GWB. Unfortunately, he is controlled by his big business (no, not media) cronies. He just promised to sign a law, as long is it provided tax breaks for the largest oil companies. The same companies that are raking in best profits in years. Thank God, we are almost done with him.

- Jews do NOT 'control North America'. They are like any other group in American society; they are represented and that is all. One could argue that the Arabs have the most control given that they control the world's oil.
