When something tragic happens to you--you never forget it. That's why so many Jewish, German-Jews, Hungarian-Jews, etc. remember the Holocaust so well. It's the same as a grown woman remembering her sexually abused childhood. There's just too much pain and anger from those tragic events that it cannot just simply be forgotten. The Holocaust happened, Pearl Harbor happened, 9/11 happened--and we cannot forget.

my great-grandfather was a survivor of auschwitz, he died before i was born, but my father told me some of what he endured there. to cast doubt on this terrible period in history is an insult to those who died there and to the survivors, and there families.unfortunately it happened, whether the actual number of those killed by the nazis is accurate i dont know, but one thing i do know, is that two terrible wrongs do not make a right, and to use this as any sort of justification for the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the israelis, is both immoral, and also insulting to the victims of the holocaust!

B. Well, they were all sent to ghetto's and eventually camps...

D. How exactly have no victims been found? Exactly what are you implying? There have been mass burial sites uncovered.
E. The Nazis believed they were doing a wonderful thing, removing "World Jewry". Why wouldn't they have kept records? This was a meticulous operation, it would be far more bizarre if they hadn't.
F. Grow up...What are you suggesting, all the records have just been made up. Yeah, and while you're at it the big building you sometimes see, Auschwitz, yep, that was just a holiday camp...
G. This question bugs me TO NO END. Why portray it in an emotive way? How ON EARTH could you have taken a picture in a Nazi camp that wasn't sad? What do you suggest? That all the photos show the miserable workers, and really they were all happy dappy dancers having a wonderful time? Grow up, "as if there are directors want to show it as something sad"...it WAS sad. What picture do you suggest they took? The beautiful sunsets? The buffet queue? The dancing competitions? I mean, seriously, WHAT do you expect there to be pictures of!!!!!?

The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. "Holocaust" is a word of Greek origin meaning "sacrifice by fire." The Nazis, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were an alien threat to the so-called German racial community.

During the era of the Holocaust, German authorities also targeted other groups because of their perceived "racial inferiority": Roma (Gypsies), the disabled, and some of the Slavic peoples (Poles, Russians, and others). Other groups were persecuted on political, ideological, and behavioral grounds, among them Communists, Socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and homosexuals.

In 1933, the Jewish population of Europe stood at over nine million. Most European Jews lived in countries that Nazi Germany would occupy or influence during World War II. By 1945, the Germans and their collaborators killed nearly two out of every three European Jews as part of the "Final Solution," the Nazi policy to murder the Jews of Europe. Although Jews, whom the Nazis deemed a priority danger to Germany, were the primary victims of Nazi racism, other victims included some 200,000 Roma (Gypsies). At least 200,000 mentally or physically disabled patients, mainly Germans, living in institutional settings, were murdered in the so-called Euthanasia Program.

As Nazi tyranny spread across Europe, the Germans and their collaborators persecuted and murdered millions of other people. Between two and three million Soviet prisoners of war were murdered or died of starvation, disease, neglect, or maltreatment. The Germans targeted the non-Jewish Polish intelligentsia for killing, and deported millions of Polish and Soviet civilians for forced labor in Germany or in occupied Poland, where these individuals worked and often died under deplorable conditions. From the earliest years of the Nazi regime, German authorities persecuted homosexuals and others whose behavior did not match prescribed social norms. German police officials targeted thousands of political opponents (including Communists, Socialists, and trade unionists) and religious dissidents (such as Jehovah's Witnesses). Many of these individuals died as a result of incarceration and maltreatment.

Following the invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, Einsatzgruppen (mobile killing units) and, later, militarized battalions of Order Police officials, moved behind German lines to carry out mass-murder operations against Jews, Roma, and Soviet state and Communist Party officials. German SS and police units, supported by units of the Wehrmacht and the Waffen SS, murdered more than a million Jewish men, women, and children, and hundreds of thousands of others. Between 1941 and 1944, Nazi German authorities deported millions of Jews from Germany, from occupied territories, and from the countries of many of its Axis allies to ghettos and to killing centers, often called extermination camps, where they were murdered in specially developed gassing facilities.

In the aftermath of the Holocaust, many of the survivors found shelter in displaced persons (DP) camps administered by the Allied powers. Between 1948 and 1951, almost 700,000 Jews emigrated to Israel, including 136,000 Jewish displaced persons from Europe. Other Jewish DPs emigrated to the United States and other nations. The last DP camp closed in 1957. The crimes committed during the Holocaust devastated most European Jewish communities and eliminated hundreds of Jewish communities in occupied eastern Europe entirely.

You ask, "How they flee from the extermination camps?" Any way they could! Most didn't get out but there were survivers found by American troops!
You ask, "Don't you feel sometimes they are having the same story as if it was written by the same person?" No, there are many stories but the results were the same! Millions murdered by gas chambers, ovens, died from starvation, firing squads, worked to death with little to eat, evil experiments and God only knows how many other ways!
You ask, "How could the survivals remember the exact location of the execution camps even though they were very young and they were transferred by military vans? If something so tramatic were to happen to me, I would know that place better than any other!
You ask, "Why until now no body find any of the victims remains even the camps locations were scanned several times by very sophisticated instruments." You suggest that there has not been any evidence of this atrosity found by new technology, who did this survey and when? There is much original footage and still photography of these death camps with starved, skin and bones people in there stripped flemsy garb, ovens with skulls and bones, huge holes with these malnurished people piled like diseased animals to be mass buried, rail cars with these people coming out of them, why is it so hard to believ?
You ask "Why the Nazis kept all this records of the holocaust in their archives? You would have to ask them that question! You ask "Why it was so important for them? Same answer, only they could answer such a question!
You ask "Is there any international esteemed laboratory confirm that this documents were written in that period?" You ask a lot of questions!
You ask, "Why all pictures of the holocaust made in a very emotive way?" This was the worst atrosity in history and you are asking why does it seem everyone is so emotional! You state, " As if there are directors want to show it as something sad?" The question boggles my mind! If this is not something sad, I don't know what is! You state, " I think the photographer should by Nazi too!!" Okay, some were Nazi the captors and some were American, the liberators! Its obvious you can not except this event as it has been recorded, which I have a hard time understanding. What else have you been mislead to believe!

ordered all possible photographs to be taken and for the German people
from the surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even

This week, the UK removed the Holocaust from it's school curriculum
because it 'offended' the Muslim population because they say it never
occurred.
This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and
how easy each country is giving into it.
It is now more than 60 years since the 2nd. World War in Europe ended.
This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the 6 million
Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic
priests who were murdered, massacred, raped, starved, burned and
humiliated while German and Russian people looked the other way!
Now more than ever, with Iran among others, claiming the Holocaust to be
a myth, it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

well there are estimates that there were like 9 to 11 million victims so there were alot of people that were affected. some survived and got lucky enough to escape with thier lives.

They were pretty much guinea pigs for thier (Nazi) expieraments.

Oh and the nazi's lost the war there for there are survivors if they would have won there probably would not have been any.

Most are simply people who lived in Europe during the Nazi era,as someone else has pointed out. Roman Polanski was never in any death camp. He did however live in a small Polish village during the occupation. Nobody ever bothered with him.

Most "survivors' never saw the inside of a concentration camp. Jews know that the term "holocaust survivor" is interpreted by most people as an individual who experienced internment by the Germans. They also know that most people don't know that as they employ the term it refers to any jew who resided in Europe at the time of the German occupations. It doesn't matter whether the person was ever bothered by the Germans or not. Rep. Tom Lantos of California is the much-touted "only holocaust survivor to serve in Congress". Translation: his family was living in Hungary during the brief German occupation. They were never bothered by the occupation authorities at all.

This is the guy who precipitated the deaths of a million of Iraqis with his fake tossing-babies-out-incubators story,in case you recall. If you don't wiki the guy up; it's all there. He's scum. Not many holocaust survivors. Unfortunately 80% of the Judeo Castillian speaking Jewish population was exterminated by the Nazis.

A big percentage of Yiddish speaking Jews were also exterminated. Many of those that were rescued by Russian and American soldiers didn't make it and died anyways.

A lot of them ended up with mental problems and recovery hasn't been easy.

Not many Holocaust survivors left, since most of that generation is dying out.

Mass field killings are documented,as are bizarre medical experiments on human subjects within the gulag-like camp system. Conditions were very poor but the evidence for mass-killing in the camps is slim,and if it occurred we must wonder why the feild killings took place openly and were photographed,whereas the alleged mass-killing in the Camps of Death were supposedly hush-hush. This makes no sense. No doubt Waffen S.S. troops massacred many jews in occupied Russia and the Ukraine but there was no element of secrecy and the killings were meticulously documented. And yet mass-killings in isolated camps were supposedly a state secret. The basic scenario of the holocaust is therefore actually rather muddled. By the way,a more worthwhile question is: why does the mass media ignore the Holodomar? There were more victims,about 7 million,making it the worst case of genocide ever. Perhaps because Stalin's Himmler was a jewish gentleman named Lazar Kaganovich? As to all these good-hearted humanists who deplore in these answers the very poorly documented saga of the jewish genocide,why have they no compassion or interest to spare for the 7 million Ukrainians deliberately starved to death by Kaganovich and his all-jewish team of "commissars"? The Basic Scenario is obviously exaggerated,which is kind of sad since the truth was bad enough. As to these survivors you used to see on tv,most were simply displaced persons who fled eastern europe in advance of the Russians in order to avoid a life under communism; they ended up in Displaced Persons camps in Germany after the war and eventually migrated. Some were jewish,others merely said that to avoid being sent back to Eastern Europe.

I didn't answer this question when it first came out because it made me so angry. I know you are not this ignorant. You just simply refuse to believe because your heart is filled with darkness and hatred where the Jews are concerned.

And you still haven't answered my question: If the Holocaust didn't occur, why does Germany itself make denying it a crime? Surely, if it were a lie, Germany would be the first to expose it. But instead, it teaches its children the truth of what their grandfathers did.

And since you're so convinced that it is all "the lies of the Jews", here is something for you. This is a film comprised of footage from the days of the liberation of the camps and you can actually see aerial footage of them, and see those who survived and the many who didn't. This is not Nazi footage, or Jewish footage, but American and British footage shot in 1945. It is not "emotive", it doesn't have somber music in the background, any acting, or even any special effects. It is just raw footage of what the soldiers encountered when they entered the camps. Open your heart just a little bit ABC, and let the truth find acceptance within.

You can still hate what Israel has done without denying the systematic murder of the Jews of Europe before the creation of Israel. They are two separate issues entirely and you will be a better man when you can realize that.

First of all - the mass graves DO exist and are well documented . . .

Many survived because they were used as slave labor and kept alive with minimal sustenance . . . I've known several who told me their stories . . .

Some survived because they refused to die . . .

Some escaped the 'roundups' and joined with the 'underground' guerilla armies that fought the NAZI's, while others were able to get to Russia or West to England . . One such escapee that I knew in New York, who reached England, actually joined the British Army and went back to fight as a soldier with many other refugee's from that terror . . . The British army had several brigades made up of European nationals and holocaust survivors to help defeat Hitler and his crew . . . .

The NAZI's kept records because they were proud of what they were doing and wanted to document their planned extermination . . . . Those documents still exist . . .

The pictures were simply journalistic in nature - - - The horrible state of the subjects created the 'emotion' of the scenes . . .

The Nazis kept all of these records because they liked everything to be in order. They were VERY precise, and this way, they would make sure not to let many people get away. They tried to keep track of where everyone was, just in case they needed their "help". For example, before the Berlin Olympics, the Nazis got an esteemed Jewish film maker to make berlin look like a beautiful place, that was peaceful. He chose to do it, because he thought it might increase his chances of survival. This happened many times, to a decent number of people... because it was free labor. Those people usually were murdered anyway.

By the way, it's good to ask these questions so we don't believe lies... without questioning, we would follow blindly and end up where we dont want to be! :)

There were a LOT of Jews put into concentration camps - 1/3 of all Jews in the world were killed in the Holocaust. Once the camps were liberated, the thousands that were in them were set free. Not only were these children, but adults as well. But how can you forget something like that, even if you were young? It was an extremely traumatic experience, and all the survivors will never forget their experience. And all the camps were very similar, all run systematically. So it makes sense that the survivors would have similar stories - they had similar experiences.

The records were there because they just WERE. It was a huge operation - of course they're going to record it. However, once the Nazis knew they were in big trouble, they tried to destroy all the papers. Many were destroyed, but thankfully many were not.

As for the pictures... how can they NOT be emotional? Do you expect photographs of emaciated, tortured people to look happy and jolly? Of course it will be sad, terrifying, and emotional, because that's what the Holocaust was... sad, terrifying, and emotional.

how many stories about Holocaust survivors have you read that you can make a generalization that they all have "The same story".

They fled extermination camps in many ways -- many escaped before they were taken to ghettos and then moved to camps. Some had documentation (like my grandfather) to be taken to Israel then ruled by the British Empire and thrown into British camps, some survived the camps all together, some made a run for it, some hid out in the woods, some put their children in churches, didn't you ever see Schindler's List?!
Survivals weren't all very young. many have died at this point but older people how have survived SURELY remember what happend to them as im sure young children do! you don't forget horrific events!
Nazis kept all this records of the Holovause in their archives because they considered it something to be proud of exterminating inferior races (not only jews but also gypsies, the mentally handicapped, homosexuals). There was no denying the Holocaust not like some people today. A real Nazi would have been proud of the fact that it happened.
What the he ll do they need international esteemed laboratories to confirm documentation of that period? there are photographs and videos.. how much more OBVIOUS can it be?
the holocaust is something tragic. not just for jews. for all humanity. it says something about how we treat one another. the photographs are not directed. they are horrible. if you ever saw some REAL holocaust pictures than you would know that if it does not evoke emotion out of someone then there is somethign wrong with them.

I suggest before you write questions that make you sound stupid you go to a Holocaust museum or watch a movie or read a book! Better yet, talk to a holocaust survivor im sure they'd be thrilled with your offensive questions.

not all fled from the camps, some hid during the whole war, some lived in the forests with the partisans, and some, the majority were liberated when the americans and russians came
most places were similar, and a lot of ppl had similar situations, but it is like that in any large scale disastear; the genocide in rwanda, darfur, and i be the tsunami in thailand as well
first of all, the camps were in cities, so the inmates knew the names of the cities, and when thay got liberated if they didnt know they weer told. second, when someone goes through a trauma like this they remember every detail everything is engrained, hence the vivid flashbacks of sufferers of post traumatic sress disorder (ptsd)
the bodies were burned in crematoriums, after they were dead other inmates shoved them in. and there are mass graves all over in europe were the jews were killed
nazis were very meticulus, they believed in keeping a record of everything to see how efficient they were. in addition, they thought they would win the war and kill all the jews, they planned on opening a museum documenting the jews in berkin (it was recently opened in memory of the holocaust victims) they also destroyed as much as they could as they were retreating and leaving the camps
yes, it isent even a question, nazis themselves who were put on trial testified to it, and the american and russian troops were the ones who found them in camps offices right after the liberation, so no one could have even planted them there
there are photographs taken by the nazis in the camps. but it happens to be that the popular ones were the ones taken by the maericans and russians at liberation, and yes they are all filled with emotiona and sadness, can you honestly tell me that looking at pictures of human skeletons wouldnt evoke emotion form you?
