Why wasn't Australia condemned like South Africa was?

In Aus and North America they killed off the native populations before it became politically correct to love a native. In SA the people tried to use them for labour. It seems that in the PC world of today that this was a bigger crime than killing them off.

I think it comes down to simple numbers. In SA, the white minority ruled and suppressed the black majority - a very visible injustice. What many people don't realise is what a tiny proportion of the total population the Aboriginals represent, so their plight was easily overlooked, out of sight and out of mind.

Because, although other countries also practised some sort of apartheid, South Africa was the only doff ones to actually put it down in their law books!! It was documented for all the world to see: Net blankes, whites only signs etc.

Australia never faced the music for what they did because they did it in a time where this type of thing was more acceptable and was given the name it was; conquest.

Aus never went to war for it's independence like India it asked nicely, throw several tantrums, and was granted it. S.A. and Rhodesia went to war. Not allowed, and never forgiven.

Interesting question. Australia gets very little press in Canada and I daresay very few people here know anything about the aboriginals of Australia. In the 60's we had a daily diet of black vs white in the U.S.. We got chapter and verse from the first slaves to watching Mississippi burning live on t.v. at dinner time. It's a short hop from that to South Africa with a different but nonetheless similar situation a few years later. Sort of a continuing saga! And journalism had changed a lot. I remember seeing a necklacing, live and in colour with the commentary being about apartheid. The fact that one had nothing to do with the other was never pointed out. It was left to appear that one was the result of the other and a lot of people bought that sort of thing - they had been primed up and ripe for it and had no reason to believe they were being manipulated. I had family living there and knew the difference and much as I would like to say I would have known the difference anyway, I really don't think I would have. The schooling my generation got over here on Africa was to learn about a pygmy named Bunga from the Belgium Congo who lived in the jungle and hunted wild animals to survive. Hardly a good foundation for understanding Rhodesia, Uganda, South Africa or anywhere else on the continent.

About North American Indians - White men killed off a lot of Indians - no doubt about it. But most of it was not due to planned warfare. We (white people from Europe) brought small pox over here and more Indians died of small pox than in Indian wars. We then introduced them to hard liquor which pretty effectively kept them down. Initially that was not a planned thing either but it sure as blazes became a part of a plan once the effects of booze became clear. Fortunately for everyone, more and more are finding their way back but it is one very slow process.

You might be right about the world hating South Africa over Apartheid. But take solace in knowing that since time began the conquered have hated the conquerer. Had there been radio, t.v. and newspapers in ancient Rome, the world would have hated them too, not just the places they overran.

South Africa and Rhodesia got crap because they broke from the UK. So UK punished them by screaming about them at the UN.

Australia never broke from the UK so the Brits never said a word. Anyways Australia stopped all that crap back in the 60s

Many colonies exterminated most of their indigenous population, South Africa didn't.
At the advent of modern communication and information the time was also ripe for many countries to force the attention away from their own "backyard", point the finger somewhere else and feel comfort in their newly expressed politically correct sentiments.

This should be the standard insert for hypocrisy in modern dictionaries.

Australia was formerly a Penal Colony and they killed off the Aborigines. South Africa was offered the same opportunity but declined. Instead they brought technology,medicine and education to Africans. The African population flourished as a result resulting in there being many,many millions instead of a few 100,000. Instead of being grateful the likes of the ANC declared War on the then South African Government and fought such War in the form of propaganda in the Western Media aided and abetted by their Communist Allies such as Soviet Russia and Cuba. Such propaganda was designed to weaken the resolve of Countries like the US and UK who along with the SADF were halting Communist expansionism in Sub Saharan Africa. This was one of the founding pillars in the roots of todays Political Correctness i.e turn the truth around and call anyone who exposes the lies of Communists/Liberals/Socialists - RACISTS.

Well there are some differences. The Australian aboriginal population was not that of the african nations. Similar for canada and the US. The aboriginal populations were small in comparison to the african ones and the whites became the majority rather than being a miniority. In south africa and rhodesia the whites were always a minority and ruled over everyone making harsh rules for the natives. In places like the US and canada the natives were allowed (after some time) to go out and get jobs and make it in the cities. So with smaller populations ruled by a majority things were a little different than the african situation.

Apartheid was great and never wrong. It kept the bloodthirsty hyenas at bay. Look at them now,necklacing,stabbing,raping,robbing,b... The hyenas of the human world. They can keep their culture and their racial; hatred. It was indeed the black leadership that betrayed the white leadership in the form of Dingaan at Umgungungdlovu that caused the mistrust of blacks. They just acted as they always have and always will-with greed,avarice and bloodlust. Look at africa,anywhere,same old story. Get rid of the whites,then blame the whites for all thats wrong today. Apartheid was great!! Where there's only a white population you get no crime. Put blacks in the mix then its" We were slaves now you owe us". Burn Africa,burn. wipe each other out. What I want to know is how the WHOLE CONTINANT, immigrant wise, has been able to not only move on past their "Convict" beginning but have actually used their bad beginnings as a battle cry towards self reliance and pride!

While the blacks in the US have not only been unable to become self reliant, they perpetuate their own poor cultures with a battle cry of "YOU FU*KING OWE US! WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF THE WHITE DEVILS! PAY US! GIVE US THINGS! GIVE US CUTS IN LINE! NOT BECAUSE WE ARE STRONG PEOPLE THAT CAN DO ANYTHING, BUT BECAUSE YOU ALL FU*KING OWE US!"

The Australians have a mentality of being "Survivors" while American Blacks have a mentality of being "Victims".

Be as upset at this statement as you want but you know deep down inside that something as simple as semantics has empowered one type of forced migration and infantised another.

More proof of how semantics can either help or hinder an entire population...

A simple question of timing and numbers. Numbers being the result of white South Africans choosing not to kill off the "native peoples" at a time when the Aussies and others thought it the ' right' ting to do.'

Kl - you are so wrong - South Africa STILL has massive mineral recourses - it is pure hypocrisy - if the majority of people are kept in their place it is unsatisfactory - but if it is a minority it is fine - just look at the hopeless situation in SA for the Whites at the moment--

The only solution is to allow the Race who has the capacity to Govern - better to rule (acknowledged by a free and fair vote) - but that is NEVER going to happen - well at least not for a 1000 years....

The concept of majority RULE is fundamentally flawed!!!

well mjay,after some thought i think that its because aus natives are a very small minority,if they were black there would have been sanctions etc..very sad that the international community can have such appalling double standards.it really sucks to be a minority.

I lived in SA for 9 years.
America has a huge racial problem, as does Australia. No excuses, these countries have had ample time fix deep rooted problems that every decent person finds personally offencive.
But SA had legislation in place, designed specifically to divide the races. Allowing in practice for one to be treated in all official channels as less than human.
We cannot change the way people want to think with sanctions, but we can make people change legislation if we target the sanctions appropriately.
But sanctions cannot work in every case anyway.

The genocide in recent history of both America and Australia doesn't change the fact that today there is no legislation in place determining that races should be divided.
The fact the the Afrikaaner didn't commit genocide on the same scale changes nothing about this fact.
Americans and Aussies, sorry but it's true.
