This does not seem likely, we dont seem to have any means at our reach to help it. We desperately need God- ok, ok, ok! It is no longer about believer or non-believer, it is about you and i, we wont last long! Zim, this is a brilliant question man only if it were to meet equally brilliant minds then a chance is we would at least learn to live together. |

Zim, there is more in your question than what the eye meets. Violence is a behaviour and behaviour controls man and animal in many ways. It is in nature to turn into a different mindset when you want to protect and I tell you, I will do all possible to protect my family and friends around me even if I have to turn to violence. The same can be observed in nature. Animals will turn to 'violence' to protect there mates or when another species harms their own. My answer I that we possibly never will end violence but humans needs to learn to control violence. |

Its because we, as a whole, are still an immature species.
We squabble over petty differences, only to resort to one thing that will make us 'feel' better: violence and retailition. The vicious cycle begins and only feeds itself to the point where there is no other alternative but to wage war agaisnt each other.
You can pply see it in playgrounds across the world, one kid has something, another wants it & will try to force the other kid to give it to him, she refuses, a scuffle breaks out and theres snot 'n trane...
The only way to end violence is if we all just grew up. Take responsibilty for our actions. Stop being so selfish. To think further than the next step; develop a sense of foresight. And to stop being so bloody possesive and stop this 'holier-than-thou' attitude that EVERY culture in the world displays to its neighbours. |

can we eliminate our animal instinct to hurt in reponse to things that seem adverse to us? what we see as adverse can be things we hate or are prejudiced against. hatred and material wealth are the key drivers of violence, because violence breeds hatred and even more violence, and so on. as long as there are riches in the world, the people who are disenfranchised and disadvantaged in money/material wealth-gaining will always act up. i don't think violence will ever end. humans have been attracted to material wealth and have grievances in their everyday lives.
it's the truth |

It does not look like its going to end any time soon Zim, but we just have to keep trying doing our bid as individuals and change our attitudes. |

Zim, maybe we should forget to even discuss this. It will never happen, at least not in the next million years. We become more violent with each day. |

As long as the are parents out there who still think spanking is good. Then it will never end. |

No don't think we ever will, as we grow more intelligent our emotions grow more complex and it's harder to deal with them. Having full consciouness about who we are and what were made of is a gift and a curse. Have you ever seen a leopard kill another because it didn't have enough spots, yet you wont see it learning how to ride a bike either, not willing anyway. |

no. humans like to think theyre all little angels but lets all face it....humans have a "good side" (a side that benfefits society or a certain type of behavior that is expected of you)....and a bad side (thier animal side...like being greedy or making fun of people they dont understand). |

man is inherently violent. while some men choose the battlefield of digital bytes and a keyboard, others will always choose their fists.
a man who chooses fists never wins. all he has proven is that he is physically better on the day than the other, but proves he does not have the mental capability to fight with words.
HOWEVER,
if you disrespect or abuse my family, a woman, child or animal, i will moer you hard, because that will teach you a lesson. |

Nice try fellows! Man will never change.. violence begets violence.
Now look at at the world from a vegetarian's point of view... For us it is just a whole lot worse. |

Hi Zim,
Doesn't appear to be, anytime soon ;
If only we could all get along... What a thought that would be ;-) |

I think that in general, everyone has to stop for moment and realise what it is THEY did to someone else today! For eg. did you cut someone off in traffic then give him the finger?? I think that one has to make sure that they treat people around you with respect, even if they dont show you the same respect. Lets start with the little things, then maybe the major ones will follow suite... (corny huh?) |

Zim it a terrible problem and unfortunately Hollywood does not help, with the films. And all the X Box games. Society is falling apart rapidly, we are not in an evolutionary stage, we are develutioning? Is that a word. |

No sadly i believe it can not end because no one really cares about other people, but we forget that to others you are the other people - and to few people realize that the violence is not and will never be the answer to any problem |

I wouldn't hold my breathe.
Humans are volatile creatures!
Even the sweetest can turn bad given the right circumstances.
But no one has to be an animal either. There is a line between simple anger and irrational violence. People need to learn where that is and when NOT to lose their temper or be over sensitive.
Not easy since the media glorifies violence and even cartoons show that getting revenge is far "better" then trying to understand and forgive.
It's going to be an uphill struggle all the way. |
