The first issue is that we haven't even defined the concept of "peace". I mean think about it, what is peace? It seems the most common definition is the absence of war/open hostility. I mean Israel and Egypt are technically at peace, but does that mean Israelis feel completely comfortable going to Egypt? Does it mean that Egypt doesn't consider Israel the biggest threat in the Middle East? Obviously not.
A peace like that we can achieve, though it seems to be more of a cold deadlock than something to strive for. True peace would be rooted in mutual respect and trust, two lacking elements nowadays. Perhaps someday a true peace like that will exist, but it seems to be far on the horizon if it is there at all. |

Israeli people long for peace; every Israeli mother dreads the time when her eighteen year old children have to leave home and enlist in the army to help protect Israel from the surrounding Arab nations that still refuse to recognise the Jewish state.

Jews are a main target, they have gone through 500 years of slavery, the holocaust, and are still being bothered with the otehr countries in the middle east. They are the only democratic country in the middle east, which is why the arab countries won't leave them alone, they all want a piece of israel, until its nothing. ALl the other countries int eh middle east treat their civilians like ****. They do terrible things to them. Israel is the holy land, land of the free!!! |
