Just with a simple calcualtion based on the estimates of "Mark", Which are correct, Every single Israeli (jew) whether man, woman or child receives more than US$ 4000 from the American tax payer per year. This is more than the entire per capita income of many countries (US$3256 is considered upper middle income).

So we can confortably say that, even if not a single Israeli bothered to work during his entire life, the American financial aid to Israel is practically enough to run the entire country and even make it among the upper middle income countries of the world).

So even if Israel could survive without US taxpayers money, we could say that it does make a huge difference in their economy.

Edit to Londonminx: US aid to Israel is mentioned becasue of its magnitude, never before in History was a country willing to entirely fund the economy of another country through direct financial aid for so long... Its actualy a curiosity worth talking of.

I find your challenge to cite even a single Israeli attrocity very funny indeed... they are documented and known all over the place... You say Israel is fighting Terrorism... I think Israel chose to be an occupying and colonialist power and have to live with the consequences of its choice... And please stop calling every act of resistance a terrorist act... Its just part of the Israeli "fogging" the truth tactics. Edit to moneymaker: Egypt receives from the US 1.8 Billion dollars (2006 estimates) mostly in Military aid. that makes the share of every single Egyptian of it roughly US$ 25.7 per year... a far cry from the whooping US$4000 that every Israeli receives. So i guess it won't make a big difference to Egypt after all contrary to your hint.

Israel might survive without the US' financial support, but it wouldn't have much of a chance of survival without American political support.

Do not know, but I would like to find out! I personally have nothing against Israel, but I see no reason why we should keep on giving them money like we are. I believe that it can be better spent.

Israel receive more than 20 billions $ each year from American taxpayers without their consent: 3.7B$ from the Congress Foreign Aid Program, 10B$ Free Loans Guarantee, and 6 to 10 B$ from USA Tax System Loophole as Charity money deducted from American JEWS Taxs to be sent to Israeli Settlements.

It could but are you willing to cut all foreign aid by the US then or is it just you have a problem with Israel. And don't forget our aid to other countries is not just direct aid but also some that is funneled through the UN, World Bank and the G8 so we should stop all that funding to if our funding is causing all this anti-americanism. Lets just be fair let everyone else take care of their problems and we spend all our money here no where else.

I should be able to. If a country cannot survive without outside aid or financial donations, it really has got problems justifying its existance.

It might be tough going for a while, but Israel would pull through. Israel has survived worse things in its short history, and America wasn't there for Israel until 1967.

First off the amount of aid the US gives to Israel is not equal to $4000.00 - that is a misnomer and anyone using that knows this so to use it identifies you as an Anti-Semite - however I am sure you would like to say I am not an anti-Semite - I am just anti-Zionist (which anyone with half a brain knows is the same thing. The answer is if the Arab states that want to destroy Israel stop getting US aid and weapon then that is definately true. If the The Arab states still get US aid and weapons Israel will probably survive - but it is not as likely. Its still not a done deal with US aid. Then again without US aid Western Europe woculd have fallen to the Soviet Union, Taiwan would be part of Mao's Communist China, Japan would have re-militarilized by now, South Korea would be communist, and the rest of the world would be a much worse place to live if not for US involvement. Some how people like to forget about these things (and there is alot more I could list).

As for the question: Yes, Israel would survive. It's interesting that America gives a lot of money to many countries - tons to Germany for example - and yet the only one ever mentioned on this site, is Israel. Why is that, then?

America supports Israel because it suits her own purposes. The USA wants a democratic ally in the Middle East, for many reasons. Israel is the only true democracy in the entire region. America gets a lot of intelligence info from Israel; don't forget that Israel has been fighting terrorism for a long long time.

Yes, that's right - the very terrorists who caused mayhem and death in London and New York, in Bali and in Indonesia, these are the people that Israel battles against.

If the Islamic extremists are only trying to deal with Israel, then WHY do they bomb places that have NO connection with Israel, such as Indonesia?
